Ethiopian Airlines will deploy its Boeing 737 aircraft on the double daily Delhi flights

Ethiopian Airlines will double its services to Delhi next month, with the launch of a second daily flight.

Commencing on 26 March 2016, the African carrier will offer two daily departures on the route, with flights leaving Addis Ababa at 1600 and 2315, and arriving in Delhi at 0125 and 0840. The return flights will then leave the Indian capital at 0240 and 0930 and get back into Ethiopia at 0710 and 1400.

Both services will be operated using a 154-seat, two-class Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

“We are pleased to offer our customers a double daily service to Delhi. India being one of the strongest economic muscles zooming into the global economic picture, availing more frequencies would catalyse the channelling of investors from both countries and facilitating business,” said Tewolde Gebremariam, group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.

“Moreover, the addition of the flight would have a paramount significance in strengthening the growing economic, political, and social relationship of the two countries in particular and the two continents in general. Our customers will be able to make an immediate connection to cities like Hargeisa, Khartoum, Nairobi and some southern African flights,” he added.

The new Delhi service marks the latest stage in Ethiopian’s expansion strategy; in the past year it has introduced services to Tokyo, Manila, Dublin, Los Angeles, Cape Town, Durban, Gaborone, Yaounde and Goma.
