A brand new Airbus A319-115 aircraft, Registration B-6480, landed smoothly at Lhasa Gonggar Airport (LXA) at 10:37 a.m. on May 9 and joined the fleet of Tibet Airlines (TV), bringing its fleet size to 13 aircraft.
The A319 aircraft, known as the "Plateau Prince", is the most preferred airplane for airlines operating flights to and from the Tibet Autonomous Region. The new aircraft, powered by CFM56-5B engines, features a comfortable two class cabin, seating 128 passengers with 8 in business class and 120 in economy, providing passenger with more legroom and fresh look in cabin.
Tibet Airlines is the second largest carrier by passenger traffic in Tibet Autonomous Region. In the first quarter of this year, Tibet Airlines handled 201,294 people and 2,955 aircraft movements, accounting for 29.6 percent and 39.7 percent of the civil aviation industry in the Tibetan region.
As its fleet expands, the airline will extend its reach to more capital cities and major cities, in a bid to build an air bridge between Tibet Autonomous Region and other domestic regions as well as promote local economy development.
