Emirates Increases Capacity to Frankfurt with Second Daily A380 Service

UAE carrier, Emirates has announced the launch of a second daily A380 service to Frankfurt, significantly increasing the route capacity.

Emirates currently operate three daily flights to the German city, two of which are currently operated by a Boeing 777-300ER while the other is serviced by the Airbus A380 jumbo jet.

From January 1, 2016, the airline’s late-afternoon departure – flight EK047 will be operated by the jumbo jet, which departs Dubai at 14L35pm, arriving into Frankfurt at 18:40pm. The return leg departs the German city at 20:30pm, arriving back into Dubai at 06:10am the following day.

Hubert Frach, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations West said, "Our customers love the A380 and adding a second one to Frankfurt will further enhance the travel experience on that route and provide more A380 to A380 connectivity to popular destinations around the world via our ultra-modern hub in Dubai.”

The first scheduled A380 service between Frankfurt and Dubai was in September 2014, and since then over 280,000 passengers have travelled with Emirates on this route. The second daily A380 service will add 1,155 seats per week on the route, with 280 in First and Business Class.

Hubert Frach also added that the airline “would be keen to fly to additional cities that are currently underserved.”

Emirates also operates nine weekly freighter flights out of Frankfurt – Germany’s second largest metropolitan region.

The airline has been increasing its capacity to a number of destinations recently including London, Madrid, Melbourne and Birmingham, as well as announcing a codeshare with Bangkok Airways.

Later this year, Emirates will be adding Mashhad, Iran and Orlando to its global network in September, Bamako, Mali in October and Bologna in November. The airline has also announced that it will fly to Panama City from next year, in what will become the longest non-stop flight in the world, taking 17 hours and 35 minutes.
