Official Airline of the Irish Rugby Team

Today we're delighted to announce a three-year deal with the IRFU, which will see us become the Official Airline of the Irish Rugby Team. The new partnership will see Ireland’s national airline link up with the Irish rugby team, which has risen to third in the World Rugby rankings after back-to-back RBS 6 Nations Championship wins under the helm of Joe Schmidt and his coaching team.

 

The deal will see us support Irish Rugby by flying players, management and support staff around Europe as they compete in the RBS 6 Nations Championships and in other high profile international tournaments.

 

As part of our new sponsorship agreement we will re-name one of our aircraft 'Green Spirit' and transform it with IRFU and player branding. This aircraft will be unveiled in early May 2015 and will bring the team to important matches around Europe. In addition, four leading Irish Internationals, one from each of the four provinces, will become ‘Aer Lingus Brand Ambassadors’, taking part in a number of events throughout the year as well as lending a helping hand to a new safety demonstration video which will be shown on board our transatlantic flights later this year. Our four ambassadors are: Rob Kearney - Leinster, Robbie Henshaw - Connacht, Tommy Bowe - Ulster and Conor Murray - Munster. We also plan to host celebratory send-offs and homecomings for the team as the travel to and from big games.
