China Eastern Airlines (MU) launched the inaugural flight from Kunming in Southwest China's Yunnan Province to Vancouver of Canada on Friday, marking the first long-hual transcontinental route from Yunnan Province to North America.
The long-haul service, served by Airbus A330-300 aircraft, is offered thrice weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sunday. The outbound flight MU597 is scheduled to take off from Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG) at 6:40 a.m., and touch down in Vancouver at 7:10 p.m., with a stopover at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG); while the return flight MU598 will depart from Vancouver at 1:30 a.m. and arrive in Kunming at 11:10 a.m. the next day, with a stopover in Shanghai (all local time).
China Eastern's A330-200 (A33E) is configured with 234 seats including 30 flat-bed seats in business class and 204 in economy class. Personal entertainment system is available on board and each seat is equipped with a universal laptop power port, noise-cancelling headphones and a 15-inch screen.
