JetBlue Airways commenced services to its latest destination on 5 May, Nashville (BNA). The carrier inaugurated double-daily services on the 1,513-kilometre link from Boston (BOS), and daily services on the 1,276-kilometre city pair with Fort Lauderdale (FLL). Both routes will be flown by the airline’s A320 fleet. Rob Wigington CEO Nashville Airport commented on the arrival of the facility’s latest carrier by saying: “JetBlue is known around the world for its unique brand and keen focus on customer service. We are delighted to welcome them to Nashville Airport and introduce its services to Boston and Fort Lauderdale. The Nashville Airport Authority is working constantly to bring more non-stop service and new destinations to Nashville and Middle Tennessee to better serve our growing region and visitors.” Both Boston and Fort Lauderdale services will face direct competition from Southwest Airlines, with each connection seeing the LCC operating 20 weekly competing services according to OAG Schedules Analyser data. JetBlue Airways also commenced a third route on 5 May, linking Fort Lauderdale with Aguadilla (BQN) in Puerto Rico. The 1,580-kilometre link will be served by the airline daily onboard A320s, with the airport pair facing incumbent Spirit Airlines which operates a five times weekly frequency.
