WOW air commenced services on its latest transatlantic route on 4 May when it launched flights between Reykjavik/Keflavik (KEF) and Montreal
The 3,726-kilometre sector will be served by the carrier four times weekly and be flown by its A321 fleet. Montreal is the first Canadian destination for the Icelandic airline, with services to Toronto Pearson scheduled to commence on 11 May. “I’m thrilled to be onboard the first WOW air flight to Canada, and to start connecting Canadians with Europe at super low fares. The fact that the first plane is touching down in Montreal – a city I lived in for nearly a decade – makes this extra special, as Montreal means a lot to me and my family,” said Skúli Mogensen, CEO of WOW air. “Aéroports de Montréal is extremely pleased to welcome WOW air,” said James Cherry, President and CEO of Aéroports de Montréal. “With its very attractive fares for flights to Iceland and Europe, WOW air represents an interesting option for our passengers. Today, the airline officially becomes the first ultra low-cost carrier flying out internationally from Montreal-Trudeau.” Although services to Montreal currently face no direct competition, it should be noted that Icelandair will commence services from Reykjavik/Keflavik on 19 May.
