Thai AirAsia launched two domestic services to Khon Kaen (KKC) on 28 April
The 478-kilometre daily service from Chiang Mai (CNX) faces competition from Kan Air’s daily ATR 72 service, while there is no competition on the 1,080-kilometre route from Hat Yai (HDY). Both routes will be operated daily using the LCC’s A320s. Thai AirAsia began daily flights from Bangkok to Khon Kaen in July 2007 before ending the service several months later. Flights resumed in October 2013 and are now operated four times daily. This brings to 30 the number of domestic routes operated by Thai AirAsia, of which 29 are served with at least daily flights, while 10 domestic routes are served with at least three flights per day. According to OAG Schedules Analyser data, Thai AirAsia has almost 29% of domestic seat capacity in May, making it the biggest carrier in the Thai domestic market followed by Thai Airways (including THAI Smile) with 21%, Nok Air 20%, Thai Lion Air 17% and Bangkok Airways 12%.
