Norwegian, Europe’s third largest low-cost airline, commenced a new service to ‘Sin City’ from London Gatwick (LGW) on 31 October

wice-weekly flights will depart Gatwick on Mondays and Thursdays, and will be operated by the airline’s 787-9s. Las Vegas (LAS) is Norwegian’s third long-haul route to launch from the London airport this year, alongside Oakland and Boston. Guy Stephenson, Gatwick CCO, said: “Las Vegas has long been a popular destination with Gatwick’s passengers. This, the newest long-haul service from Gatwick, will increase the choice of flights available to those travelling to one of the US’ most exciting cities. Norwegian’s route joins more than 50 other long-haul services from the airport, including most recently new routes to China, Peru, Canada, Costa Rica, Nigeria, South Africa, as well as the US.” Virgin Atlantic Airways also flies the airport pair, offering a six times weekly service. On 30 October, the LCC improved its UK offer still further when it began a twice-weekly (Fridays and Sundays) service between Gran Canaria (LPA) and Manchester (MAN). The 737-800-operated, 3,024-kilometre sector will face direct competition from the likes of Thomas Cook Airlines (five times weekly), Jet2.com (thrice-weekly), easyJet, Monarch Airlines, Ryanair and Thomson Airways (all twice-weekly).
