Taiwanese low-cost carrier V Air today (09AUG16) announced the end of operation on 30SEP16, followed by the announcement of merger with its parent TransAsia Airways. Currently, the airline operates following service.

V Air launched its third new route in March with the addition of Manila (MNL). Launched on 27 March, the Taiwanese LCC will operate a four times weekly service using its A320s and A321s on the 1,173-kilometre route from Taipei Taoyuan (TPE). The route is already well served by China Airlines (14 weekly flights), EVA Air (13), Cebu Pacific Air (10), Philippine Airlines (eight) and KLM (seven). The inaugural flight took off with a load factor of 80%. Bernard Hsu, CCO, V Air said: “We at V Air are delighted to witness our ninth scheduled service from Taipei to Manila launch. As the first Taiwanese low-cost airline to tap the ever-growing Philippine market, we are looking forward to be the preferred airline of the travelling Filipino on a budget. Our operations in Manila will be significant in securing a strong foothold in the region.” Flights operate during day-time hours every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Earlier in March V Air also launched flights to Tokyo Haneda and Ibaraki in Japan

V Air, the Taiwanese low-cost carrier, has launched its first flights to the Philippines.

The inaugural flight from Taipei to Manila touched down at the Philippine capital’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Sunday, marking the start of a new scheduled service operating four times a week.

Flights will now depart Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 1700 and arrive in Manila at 1900. The return service then leaves at 2000 and arrives back in Taipei at 2200.

The route will be operated using either a 180-seat Airbus A320 or 194-seat A321 aircraft, both of which feature a single economy class cabin.

“As the first Taiwanese low-cost airline to tap the ever-growing Philippine market, we are looking forward to be the preferred airline of the travelling Filipino on a budget. Our operations in Manila will be significant in securing a strong foothold in the region,” said V Air’s chief commercial officer, Bernard Hsu.



Manila becomes V Air’s third destination in Southeast Asia, following Bangkok and Chiang Mai. The airline also flies to destinations in Japan and South Korea.

V Air has begun thrice-weekly A320 flights on the 2,121-kilometre route between Taipei Taoyuan (TPE) and Tokyo Haneda (HND). The airport pair is already served by Peach Aviation (daily flights) and Tigerair Taiwan (with four weekly flights). In addition, there are 11 (yes, 11) carriers operating a total of 17 flights per day between Taipei Taoyuan and Tokyo Narita. There were 137 passengers on V Air’s inaugural flight, resulting in a load factor of over 70%. This becomes the LCCs seventh route in all and fifth to Japan, with two more routes (to Ibaraki and Manila) scheduled to launch before the end of March. According to the airline it has carried over 250,000 passengers since its first route launched in late 2014. This new service departs Taiwan at 22:00 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, arriving in Tokyo the following morning at 02:00. Return flights depart Japan at 03:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays getting back into Taipei at around 06:00 the same day.

V Air Launches Maiden Flight

V Air officially commenced its operation with a flight from Taipei to Bangkok, Thailand on Monday morning.
V Air, a new low-cost subsidiary of Taiwan's TransAsia Airways, officially commenced its operation with a flight from Taipei to Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday morning.

The start-up airline took delivery of its first A321 aircraft in the V Bear livery in October. Currently, the budget carrier has one A321 aircraft in an all economy configuration and expects to expand its fleet to a total of five planes by 2015.
In addition, V Air also revealed the plan to launch a chartered flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia on Jan. 6 and start operating its second regular route to Chiang Mai, Thailand on January 7, 2015.

V Air is the second budget airline in Taiwan after Tigerair Taiwan (IT) - a joint venture between China Airlines (CI) and Singapore's Tiger Airways (TR), which made its maiden flight to Singapore in September.

Taiwanese LCC start-up, V air, eyes December 17 launch date

V air has announced plans to commence scheduled operations in the middle of next month. Subject to Thai government approval, the LCC plans to serve Bangkok Don Mueang from December 17 and Chiang Mai from January 7, 2015, with additional destinations in North-East Asia and South-East Asia to be announced in due course.

V Air Unveils First Aircraft in V Bear Livery

V Air, a low-cost start-up carrier based in Taiwan, unveiled an Airbus A321 aircraft in the V Bear livery on its Facebook page, which is its first ever aircraft.

The painting job for the first aircraft has completed, with the airline's name "v air" painted on the fuselage and its "V Bear" logo on the blue tail. The aircraft is expected to arrive at Taiwan's Taipei Songshan Airport on Monday.

V Air will commence operations by the end of the year with an inaugural flight to Bangkok, according to an early report. But the budget airline did not disclose the airfare or the date of its inaugural flight, adding that its application is under review by Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration.

The carrier confirmed its first destination will be Bangkok following the delivery of its first aircraft before the end of 2014. It also plans to launch services to Japan and South Korea in the first quarter of 2015, with a fleet of three A320/321 aircraft

Transasia Airways reveals name of its new Taiwanese LCC as V air

TransAsia Airways has announced that its nascent Low Cost subsidiary with be called "V air" while its Chinese name will be “Wei Hang” ('mighty airline' in English).

In a statement, TransAsia said it picked V air out of nearly 8'000 entries in a public naming contest. “V can stand for voyage, vision, vivid, or victory which symbolise the positive energy a new company requires and can help boost the public’s preference and acceptance of the new company,” it said. Backed by TWD3billion (USD100million), V air is expected to launch before year end using two or three leased A320/A321s and will go head to head with the new China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan)-Tigerair (TR, Singapore Changi) joint venture, Tigerair Taiwan (Taipei Taoyuan), which is also planning to launch this year.
