Adelaide Joins REX - Regional Express Domestic Jet Network

 Rex jet flights between Melbourne and Adelaide began today heralding a new era for competition on the route with special one-way launch fares from just $55. The inaugural Boeing 737-800NG flight was met by government leaders, airport executives and the Hon John Sharp AM, the airline’s Deputy Chairman.

Rex has taken delivery of two more Boeing 737-800NGs from its lessor on 26 February 2021, after the aircraft’s scheduled heavy maintenance checks at the lessor’s designated engineering facility. With the addition of these two aircraft, Rex now has a fleet of four 737-800NGs on its AOC.

Rex Airlines starts flights between Melbourne and Sydney for first time

 Rex Airlines has started flying on Australia's busiest route, Melbourne to Sydney,for the 

first time.

The regional carrier's first flights between the capital cities began this morning, as it attempts to compete with Virgin and Qantas on metropolitan routes.

The aircraft operating on the route is the Boeing 737-800 NG.
Rex has also announced new destinations from other capital cities, unveiling flights from Melbourne to the Gold Coast and Adelaide with prices starting at $69.
Rex's deputy chairman, the Hon John Sharp, said; "South Australia and Queensland have always benefitted from Rex's regional services which are renowned for reliability and great country hospitality, at affordable fairs.

Rex secures shareholder nod for PAG investment

                            

Rex - Regional Express (ZL, Wagga Wagga) shareholders have "overwhelmingly" approved a proposed AUD150 million Australian dollar (USD115 million) investment deal with PAG Regulus Holdings Pte Ltd.

"This is the final major step in Rex's preparation for launching domestic services to all the major cities," Deputy Chairman Ron Sharp said in a statement.

The investment will be exclusively earmarked to fund Rex's upcoming expansion into the domestic trunk route market using its first narrowbody jets. The first tranche of AUD50 million (USD38.2 million) will be disbursed to the carrier by mid-February.

Rex is planning to launch its first B737 route, from Sydney Kingsford Smith to Melbourne Tullamarine, on March 1, 2021, with more services to follow shortly thereafter. The carrier has so far inducted two B737-800s, although it said it has already signed lease agreements for a total of six of the type.

Rex's new business model will complement, rather than replace, its existing network of regional Australian RTP services operated with a total of fifty-seven Saab 340A, Saab 340Bs, and S340B(Plus)es.
