Beijing Capital Airlines has become the fourth Chinese airline to serve London Heathrow
Beijing Capital Airlines has become the fourth Chinese airline to serve London Heathrow after Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines, with the carrier beginning flights to the UK hub from Qingdao on 17 November. The Hainan Group carrier will offer a twice-weekly (Mondays and Fridays) service on the 8,686-kilometre sector using its 212-seat A330-200s. For Heathrow, Qingdao becomes its fourth destination in China after Beijing, Shanghai Pudong and Guangzhou. The hub was connected to Chengdu until the end of 2016, with British Airways pulling its 787-8-operated service after a three-year operation. Qingdao services will face no direct competition, with the launch of these flights meaning Heathrow will see 55 weekly departures to China this winter, with the four Chinese airlines, along with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic Airways, also serving the country market. While Beijing Capital Airlines serves Heathrow, fellow Hainan Group operator Tianjin Airlines operates into London Gatwick from Tianjin via Chongqing. Hainan Airlines itself also operates to the UK, with it serving the route between Beijing and Manchester. Beijing Capital Airlines already serves Lisbon, Madrid and Moscow Sheremetyevo with regular scheduled services from China in W17/18 when referring to OAG schedules.

Beijing Capital Airlines Lands in Melbourne for the First Time
Beijing Capital Airlines officially a Shenyang-Qingdao-Melbourne service, marking its debut in Australia and the sixth mainland Chinese carrier operating at Melbourne Airport.
Flight JD461, operated by Airbus A330-200, touched down at Tullamarine after 8:40 a.m. on Friday morning, after an 11-hour journey from Qingdao in the Shandong Province on China's east coast.

The Beijing-based carrier will operate the Shenyang-Qingdao-Melbourne service thrice weekly, with the Melbourne-bound flights departing on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Beijing Capital Airlines, part of Virgin Australia shareholder HNA Group's stable of airlines, joins Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines and Xiamen Air offering service to Melbourne Airport. Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific and Taiwanese flag carrier China Airlines also serve Melbourne.
And Melbourne will welcome a seventh mainland Chinese carrier from November when Hainan Airlines, also part of HNA Group, begins flights to Tullamarine from Changsha and Xi'an.
Melbourne Airport said China was its number one visitor market, with 820,000 Chinese residents passing through the airport in the 12 months to July 2016.
"Melbourne has achieved the fastest average growth from Chinese passengers over the past five years of all major Australian airports: 18.6 percent each year on average," the airport said.

Capital Airlines Eyes North American Market
Beijing Capital Airlines (JD), a subsidiary of Hainan Airlines (HU), is planning to expand its international network to North America by adding Hangzhou-Qingdao-Vancouver in November 2016.
Pending government approval, the Beijing-based carrier will use its 222-seat Airbus A330 aircraft on the Hangzhou-Qingdao-Vancouver route, with three flights weekly, according to an announcement released Thursday on the website of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
The Beijing-based carrier has accelerated its international expansion pace as the Chinese economy grows, which has increased outbound travel for China's citizens.
Capital Airlines began long-haul operations earlier this year with its first ever intercontinental flights connecting Beijing and Hangzhou with Copenhagen in this September.
Besides, it is also applying to the aviation watchdog to open two four long-haul, intercontinental routes - Hangzhou-Madrid in December 2015, Qingdao-Melbourne in July 2016 and two services to Birmingham from Beijing and Hangzhou in April 2016.
Now, Capital Airlines operates 56 aircraft, comprising 23 Airbus A319s, 32 A320s and one A330. According to the carrier, it is scheduled to take delivery of two more A330s this year and expand its long-haul fleet to more than 30 aircraft in the next five years.
The Air Transportation Department of CAAC is soliciting public comments on the application until November 26, 2015.

Beijing Capital Airlines to Launch Flights to Europe
Beijing Capital Airlines plans to open its first European route linking Beijing, Hangzhou in Zhejiang province and Copenhagen, the capital and largest city of Denmark, in September, said the company's CEO.
An Airbus A330, the first wide-body jetliner of the Beijing-based carrier, a subsidiary of Hainan Airlines Group, arrived in Beijing on Saturday morning.
"We plan to use the new aircraft to operate the flight between the three cities," said Xu Xin, CEO of Capital Airlines. "My company focuses on tourism market so we must open more overseas routes, which requires us to maintain a fleet of large jetliners." In the next five years, Capital Airlines will purchase at least 30 wide-body jetliners to open more international routes between Chinese cities and major overseas tourist destinations, he added.
Established in 2010, the company runs more than 200 domestic and international flights. All of its aircraft are made by the European aviation giant Airbus.
