TUI fly Nordic takes first B787-9

TUI fly Nordic (6B, Stockholm Arlanda) took delivery of its first B787-9 as it plans to resume widebody operations after a year-long gap.

SE-RFZ (msn 44579) was registered in Sweden on September 21, 2021, but has yet to be deployed into revenue service by the Swedish unit of TUI Group. The 4.4-year-old Boeing aircraft was previously operated by TUI Airways as G-TUIK since new. It was retired by the British airline on September 2, following its last flight from Montego Bay to Manchester Int'l, and deregistered on September 20. It is owned by TUI's in-house financing arm, TUI Travel Aviation Finance.

TUI fly Nordic's current fleet comprises only two B737-800s although it used to operate a total of six B767-300(ER)s in the past, with the last two retired from active service in November and December 2020. Since then, it has not had any widebody aircraft.

For its part, TUI Airways continues to operate eight B787-8s and five -9s in terms of its widebody fleet. The only TUI Group unit with no widebody aircraft in its fleet is now TUI fly (Germany).

TUIfly Nordic outlines proposed B787 winter longhaul routes

TUIfly Nordic will begin offering B787-8 flights from Stockholm Arlanda to Cancún and Mauritius as well as from Copenhagen Kastrup to Montego Bay beginning this December.

TUI Nordic in Winter 2013/14 is introducing Boeing 787-8 aircraft as part of its offering for inclusive tour packages. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft service is provided by Thomson Airways, which will be operating following routes. Planned Boeing 787 operation remains subject to change.
