DUBAI AIR SHOW - COMAC attends Dubai Airshow C919 and C909 debut in Middle East

The Dubai Airshow kicked off at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates on November 17th, 2025. 

C919 aircraft and C909 business jet debuted at the airshow. 

This was the first time for Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. 

(COMAC) to attend the Dubai Airshow. 

COMAC would show the latest achievements in the development of China's commercial aircraft through flight performances, exhibitions and product promotions, and deepen exchanges and mutual trust with the global aviation industry.

In the static display area of the airshow, a C919 aircraft of China Southern Airlines and a C909 business jet of COMAC were presented at the same time.

The C919 aircraft of China Southern Airlines has a 164-seat three-class cabin layout, and its interior is designed with the latest oriental aesthetic theme of "Being in an elegant Chinese style, like walking in the light".

The C909 aircraft has a spacious and comfortable cabin space, which allows for a flexible layout of the functional areas such as rest areas, reception areas, conference areas and dining areas, offering the configuration options ranging from 12 to 29 seats, and can satisfy the diversified travel demands of
customers.
In addition, one C919 aircraft of COMAC would conduct a demonstration flight to show the outstanding performance of the C919 aircraft to the public.

In the exhibition hall, COMAC displaye aircraft mockups of a full family line, including C909, C919 and C929 baseline aircraft; C909 business jet, medical rescue aircraft, emergency rescue command aircraft, firefighting aircraft and cargo aircraft; and C919 shorten version and extended version aircraft, to satisfy various demands of the global aviation market with diversified products.

C909 aircraft has a layout of 78 to 97 seats and a range of 2,225 to 3,700 kilometers, and has excellent take-off and landing performance and crosswind resistance at airports with short and narrow runways in high temperature and plateau conditions. 

More than 170 C909 aircraft have been delivered to domestic and foreign customers, and the aircraft have successively operated in more than 790 routes and entered into route operation in Southeast Asia. 

C919 aircraft has a layout of 158 to 192 seats and a range of 4,075 to 5,555 kilometers. 

A total of 26 C919 aircraft have been delivered, and the aircraft have successively operated in more than 30 routes. 

C929 aircraft has a range of approximately 12,000 kilometers and a baseline version with 280 seats. 

The research and development of the aircraft is pushed forward with steady steps.
COMAC will unwaveringly practice the concept of opening up and cooperation, and is looking forward to establishing closer, firmer and deeper cooperative relationships with global customers and partners to promote the prosperous development of the civil aviation transportation industry in the world, and provide better services for air travelers.

Second C919 aircraft delivered to China Eastern Airlines

A "three certificate" issuance and delivery ceremony of China Eastern Airlines B-919C aircraft was held in the flight test complex building of Zhuqiao base of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) in the afternoon of July 14th, 2023, marking that the second C919 aircraft was officially delivered to China Eastern Airlines (CEA). Relevant personnel and appointed representatives of CAAC East China Regional Administration, all members of CEA awaiting team, relevant leaders of the Assembly Manufacturing Center of COMAC, and the main members of the delivery team attended the ceremony.

The butt joint of sections of B-919C aircraft was started in August 2022, the final assembly was completed in February 2023, and the production flight test was completed in June 2023. After entering the delivery phase, the CEA awaiting team cooperated closely with the COMAC delivery team to carefully complete all the work such as aircraft appearance inspection, ground test, delivery flight test, CAAC inspection and document handover.

China Eastern Airlines B-919C aircraft has completed the ferry flight in the morning of July 16th, and will be put into route operation in the near future.

AThe opening ceremony of the 13th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition was held in Zhuhai on September 28th, 2021. The first business jet, CBJ, of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) was unveiled at the airshow and conducted an aerobatic flight and ground exhibition. Mr. Wu Yongliang, Member of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of COMAC, Mr. Zhai Zhigang, Chairman of One Two Three Airlines (OTT Airlines), Mr. Sun Yongan, Co-president of Beijing TOJOY Shared Aviation Services and Consulting Group, Mr. Ji Xingzhuo, Chairman of Future Air Co., Ltd., Mr. Li Bokai, President of Business Aviation Asia Limited (BAA), Mr. Ji Guang, President of Global Wings Aviation Group, Mr. Lin Peiqun, Chairman of Guangdong Yitong Business Aviation Development Co., Ltd. of Guangdong Airport Authority, and Mr. Zhou Wei, Sales & Marketing Director of Shanghai Deer Jet Co., Ltd., unveiled CBJ business jet together. Subsequently, Mr. Wu Yongliang attended the symposium on commercial operation and cooperation mode innovation of domestic business jet.

Mr. Wu Yongliang expressed that, in order to continually enrich the product family, improve the product value and meet diversified customer needs, COMAC had started the research and development of CBJ business jet in early 2015, began modification in 2017, and completed TC design change and certification in March this year. CBJ business jet is a derivative of ARJ21 aircraft, which is defined as a medium-range large modified business jet dedicated for business flights such as for business trips, administrative matters and foreign affairs, and has excellent performance in plateau and high temperature conditions and obstacle clearance capability in complex routes.

The CBJ business jet presented at this airshow is painted with a unique mica paint, and the matching of dark blue and gold gives an impression of calmness and grandeur. The cabin adopts a more comfortable and intelligent design, has a total of 13 seats, includes rest areas, reception areas, conference areas and dining areas, and has a spacious cabin space and advanced entertainment interactive system.

Mr. Wu Yongliang emphasized that COMAC had always insisted on the principles of taking market demand as the orientation, being customer centered, and creating value for customers. Facing the broad business jet transport market in the future, COMAC would work with its customers and partners to explore innovation in the commercial operation and cooperation mode of CBJ business jet, uphold the principles of opening-up cooperation and mutual benefit to bring more business opportunities for the customers and partners, and inject new vitality to global business jet market.

ARJ21 aircraft of OTT Airlines completes inaugural flight

 

The first ARJ21 aircraft introduced by One Two Three Airlines (OTT Airlines) operated Flight No. MU5159 on December 28th, 2020, officially starting its inaugural flight with a high passenger load factor of over 90%. The aircraft took off from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport at 14:25 and flew to Beijing Capital International Airport, marking a landmark step in the market-oriented operation of China-made aircraft.

This ARJ21 aircraft of OTT Airlines is in all economy-class cabin configuration with seats for 90 passengers. The seats are arranged in 18 rows with two seats on the left and three seats on the right of the aisle in each row. This ARJ21 aircraft is equipped with the latest ultra-thin type of seats made in China with a simple appearance and comfortable sitting. The spacing, seat back angle and width are comparable to the configuration level of the existing single-aisle passenger aircraft of China Eastern Airlines (CEA). At the same time, this ARJ21 aircraft of CEA is provided with USB power sockets for each passenger. The style of the cabin interiors is consistent with the configuration standard of

What deserves to be mentioned is that the pilot in command of this inaugural flight is Mr. Zhang Daqi, a "five-star captain of CEA", who has flown 6 types of aircraft successively, with a safe flight time of over 18,300 hours. He has flown a business jet as a companion during the maiden flight of C919 aircraft on May 5th, 2017.




On February 26th this year, at the critical stage of uniformly promoting epidemic prevention and control as well as economic and social development, CEA took a step ahead in the commercial operation of the new generation of China-made civil aircraft and established OTT Airlines, which injected confidence and strength into the civil aviation industry to overcome the impact of the epidemic and speed up the work resumption. OTT Airlines had successfully obtained an operation certificate in accordance with CCAR-121 (Rules on Operations Certification of Large Airplanes Air Carrier) on December 25th, and had also obtained the operation qualification in accordance with CCAR-135 (Rules on Operation Certification of Small Aircraft Commercial Transport Operators), becoming one of the few airlines promoting the "common development" of public aviation and business aviation in the civil aviation industry of China.




In order to operate the China-made aircraft well with high quality, CEA utilizes the force of the whole company, and makes all-round efforts and new practices in multiple aspects such as personnel training, support process, operation arrangement, brand development and market promotion in combination with the model characteristics of the China-made aircraft. Under the full support of the big family of CEA, and as the flight starts, OTT Airlines has established an ARJ21 aircraft operating team including 15 pilots, 28 flight attendants, 9 safety officers, 2 dispatchers, and more than 30 maintenance engineers and performance engineers. According to the plan, OTT Airlines will gradually receive a total of three ARJ21 aircraft at the beginning of the flight, six ARJ21 in 2021 and eight in 2022. By 2025, the size of the aircraft fleet will reach 35.




According to the plan of OTT Airlines, the company will operate the routes such as "Hongqiao-Capital", "Pudong-Daxin", "Pudong-Nanchang", "Pudong-Hefei" and "Pudong-Wenzhou" in succession during the winter and spring seasons from the end of this year to the end of March 2021, including the period of the upcoming Spring Festival travel rush.




In the future, with the development of OTT Airlines and the introduction of more and more ARJ21 aircraft, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. China Express receives another ARJ21 aircraft

China Express received its second ARJ21 aircraft in Shanghai on December 28th, 2020.

This ARJ21 aircraft of China Express was introduced by means of financial leasing from Suyin Financial Leasing Co., Ltd.

C919 enters into authority certification flight test SAACC

SAACC signs and issues first TIA for C919

Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) signed and issued the first Type Inspection Authorization (TIA) for C919 program on November 27th, 2020.



C919 Aircraft TIA Review Meeting was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi on November 27th, 2020. Shanghai Aircraft Airworthiness Certification Center of CAAC (SAACC) signed and issued the first TIA for C919 program. This means that the configuration of C919 aircraft is basically in place, the aircraft structure is basically verified, and the maturity of demand confirmation and verification of each system can ensure the safety and effectiveness of the certification flight test; and marks that C919 aircraft has officially entered into authority certification flight test.




Mr. Wu Xiaojun, Member of Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Nanchang Municipal Committee, Mr. Shen Xiaoming, Director of Aircraft Airworthiness Certification Center of CAAC, and Mr. Zhao Yuerang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), attended the meeting and made a speech respectively. Mr. Gu Xin, Director of SAACC, presided over the meeting. Mr. Wei Yingbiao, Member of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of COMAC, and Mr. Xiao Yun, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Nanchang Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Nanchang, attended the meeting. Mr. Jie Yuwen, Leader of C919 Type Certification Group of SAACC, signed and issued the first TIA for C919 program.




Mr. Wu Xiaojun expressed warm congratulations on the issuance of the first TIA for C919 aircraft. He pointed out that this was a major event in the history of Nanchang. Nanchang was the birthplace of the first aircraft in China. C919 aircraft had completed a series of flight tests in Nanchang since Nanchang flight test base of COMAC had been put into service. As participants, involvers and witnesses of the trunk liner career, Nanchang people felt proud. Nanchang would utilize the force throughout the city and spare no efforts to provide services and guarantee for the flight tests of C919 aircraft, fully promote the development of aviation industry, and build Nanchang into a warm home for the Chinese trunk liner.




Mr. Shen Xiaoming expressed that since 2008, the certification team of CAAC had worked together with the C919 program team of COMAC, and adhered to the principles of safety first and steady process in the type certification work; the teams of both sides had always maintained a strong sense of political responsibility, attached great importance to work coordination, always regarded capability improvement and airworthiness breakthrough as important tasks, and made a landmark progress. In the face of the new situation and new challenges after entering into authority certification flight test, the teams of both sides should further unify thinking and build consensus, earnestly control the safety of the certification flight test, and take safety as the top priority; should strictly master the standards and regulations of certification, and ensure the quality of airworthiness certification; and should strengthen work coordination, implement the "five integrations", take the initiative to fulfill responsibilities, and ensure the safety and high efficiency of the certification work.




Mr. Zhao Yuerang expressed sincere thanks to CAAC and Jiangxi province for their generous support to the research and development of C919 program, and expressed the highest respect to the C919 program team, Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and other units participating in the development and test for their hard work. He pointed out that after more than 4,000 days and nights of hard work, C919 aircraft officially obtained the TIA, marking that another critical milestone was achieved in the research and development of the program and the program entered into authority certification flight test. All staff working on the program should cherish the hard-won achievement, proceed with confidence in certification and delivery, earnestly implement the requirements of the authority, make solid progresses in various work related to the research and development of the aircraft, and be dream seekers of the Trunk Liner Dream and the Chinese Dream.




TIA is a document signed and issued by the leader of the type certification group, approving certification representatives (including delegated representatives) to conduct pre-flight inspections before certification flight test, on-site witness or flight test of the aircraft prototype.




Obtaining TIA and carrying out authority certification flight test are key links for the airworthiness certification of commercial aircraft. According to the Certification Procedures for Civil Aviation Products and Parts (CCAR21) of CAAC, and before CAAC carries out certification flight test, the applicant shall show to CAAC that the aircraft complies with relevant structural requirements in airworthiness regulations, complete necessary ground inspection and test, carry out necessary flight tests, and submit the reports.




The principles of safety first and steady process are adhered in the research and development of C919 program. At present, a total of six C919 flight test aircraft have been put into certification flight test respectively in Yanliang of Shaanxi, Nanchang of Jiangxi, Dongying of Shandong, Xilinhot of Inner Mongolia, Turpan of Xinjiang, Dunhuang of Gansu, etc. A number of key flight tests, such as flutter/pneumatic servo elasticity flight test, stall flight test, airspeed calibration flight test, high-temperature and high-humidity flight test, and whole aircraft drainage flight test, have been completed in succession; a series of ground verification tests, development flight tests, and applicant flight tests for compliance are conducted, in which the power plant, flight control system, hydraulics and landing gear system, avionics and electrical system are verified; and all the static tests including 2.5g ultimate load static test have been completed, which lays a foundation for the development of certification flight test.




Subsequently, the six C919 flight test aircraft will steadily carry out more intensive test flights according to the plan, so as to comprehensively verify the safety and reliability of C919 aircraft and verify the compliance with airworthiness regulations. (Photographer: Wang Jiliang)

 

China Express receives first ARJ21 aircraft, 100 China-made commercial aircraft to join in fleet of China Express

China Express Airlines and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) held a signing ceremony of 100 China-made commercial aircraft and delivery ceremony of the first ARJ21 aircraft in Chongqing on November 10th, 2020. An ARJ21 aircraft with a fuselage painting of "China Express Tongcheng" and a nationality registration number of B-650P landed smoothly at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in that morning. This indicates that ARJ21 aircraft has officially joined in the fleet of China Express which has focused on regional aviation operation in China for a long term, the number of operators of the China-made commercial aircraft is increased to seven, and the regional aviation network in China will be further enriched to promote the popularized development of the civil aviation industry.

Mr. Xu Dongyi, Deputy Director of CAAC Southwest Regional Administration, issued the Registration Certificate, Airworthiness Certificate and Radio Station License for the first ARJ21 aircraft of China Express to Mr. Li Zhiliang, President of China Express, on behalf of relevant units of CAAC.






Mdm Ren Hong expressed that regional aviation had broad development prospects in the air transport market of our country, so the future of the China-made regional aircraft would be promising. NDRC would further establish a coordination mechanism to expand the market of the China-made commercial aircraft, improve the aviation service level, and help the sustained and stable development of the China-made aircraft. She sincerely hoped that China Express and COMAC could work together to serve the public, soar into the blue sky and achieve their dreams.




Mr. Xu Chunrong express that the cooperation between COMAC and China Express was a concrete manifestation of taking advantage of the huge civil aviation market in China and driving the application and development of independent innovation products. He hoped that both sides could continually improve the economic efficiency of the China-made commercial aircraft through continuous communication, and form the unique advantages and competitiveness of the China-made aircraft in the future. MIIT would further improve the industrial policies to create a better development environment for the China-made commercial aircraft in the future.




Mr. He Dongfeng expressed that today, COMAC had ushered in the first private enterprise user, and ARJ21 aircraft had won the largest order so far. This was a key milestone in the market introduction of ARJ21 aircraft, indicating that ARJ21 aircraft had gained more recognition from customers after more than four years of market-oriented operation, and also indicating that a key step was made in the large-scale and industrialized development of the China-made commercial aircraft.




Mr. He Dongfeng emphasized that this was a take-off of dream; it was our common expectation for ARJ21 aircraft to join in the fleet of China Express which had focused on regional aviation operation, and it was our common dream to work hard for the development of regional aviation in China. This was a take-off of trust; COMAC was especially grateful to China Express for its firm choice and support on the China-made aircraft; this trust was not only the trust between companies, but also the trust between industries, and even the trust in the Trunk Liner Dream that carried the will of the state, the dream of the Chinese nation and the expectation of the Chinese people. China Express' order for one hundred China-made commercial aircraft was not only its confidence in the fundamentals of the regional aviation market in China, but also its confidence in ARJ21 aircraft. China Express was a leader in the business mode for regional aviation in China, had successful operation experience in multi-model and multi-category regional aviation market, and had high-efficiency operational and practical experience. The strategic cooperation between China Express and COMAC at this time would further expand the route network of ARJ21 aircraft, and more people would have the opportunity to enjoy equal aviation service.

At the beginning of this month, China Express and COMAC officially have signed a purchase contract for 100 aircrafts, of which 50 are ARJ21 series aircraft, and the other 50 can be ARJ21 series aircraft or C919 series aircraft, which will be determined by subsequent negotiations between both sides. This signing and delivery means that ARJ21 aircraft has gained more recognition from customers after more than four years of market-oriented operation.




China Express is an active explorer and main practitioner in the business mode for regional aviation in China. ARJ21 aircraft first delivered at COMAC Jiangxi Production Flight Test Center

China-made commercial aircraft deeply integrated with aviation industry in Jiangxi

Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) delivered an ARJ21 aircraft for the first time at COMAC Jiangxi Production Flight Test Center on October 30th, 2020, which was the third ARJ21 aircraft received by Jiangxi Air. The ARJ21 aircraft with a painting of "Yichun" is in all economy-class cabin configuration with seats for 90 passengers, and follows the themed cabin service mode of "one aircraft, one city, and one culture" for the ARJ21 aircraft of Jiangxi Air. This is another painting with Jiangxi characteristics after those of ARJ21 Jinggangshan and ARJ21 Jingdezhen, which deeply integrates the cabin service experience with the characteristic culture of Jiangxi, and allows the China-made civil aircraft to fly higher and farther carrying the strong "Jiangxi Red Culture".

Mr. Huang Xizhong, on behalf of the CPC Nanchang Municipal Committee and Nanchang municipal government, extended warm congratulations on the first delivery of ARJ21 aircraft at COMAC Jiangxi Production Flight Test Center, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all sectors of society who had been caring about and supporting the development of the aviation industry in Nanchang. He pointed out that the first delivery of ARJ21 aircraft at COMAC Jiangxi Production Flight Test Center was a concrete manifestation of the continuous deepening of strategic cooperation between Nanchang and COMAC, and would surely further enhance the aviation manufacturing capability of Nanchang. Mr. Zhang Zhizhong expressed that Jiangxi Air had focused on the overall development, actively devoted to the development of the China-made civil aircraft, explored the characteristic service mode and business mode for the China-made civil aircraft, insisted on the principle of being "quality first", smoothly ensured the safe and stable operation of the two ARJ21 aircraft, and initially established operation specifications and service standards for the ARJ21 aircraft of Jiangxi Air. Jiangxi Air would continue to meet the requirements of high-quality development, and make every effort to ensure that the China-made civil aircraft can fly safely, smoothly and efficiently, in order to make new and greater contributions to the strategy of reinvigorating China through civil aviation and the strategy of "Made in China".




COMAC Jiangxi Production Flight Test Center is located in Nanchang Aerospace Industry Town in Nanchang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone. The foundation stone was laid on April 26th, 2019. The total area is about 365 mu, including a completion center, a painting workshop, a delivery center building, a parking apron, etc. This center will be mainly responsible for the interior installation, painting, flight test support, customer delivery support, repair and maintenance, and operation support of ARJ21 aircraft, as well as the support of the scientific research, certification and flight test of C919 aircraft, which will further promote and enhance the off-site production and flight test capabilities of COMAC.




At present, Jiangxi Air has a fleet of 13 aircraft, including 3 ARJ21 aircraft, and it is estimated that the number of aircraft in ARJ21 fleet of Jiangxi Air will reach 5 by the end of 2021. As the first airline operating the China-made regional jet in East China, Jiangxi Air has actively explored the characteristic service mode and business mode for the China-made civil aircraft, specially set up a China-made civil aircraft operation center, an ARJ21 flight workshop and an ARJ21 maintenance workshop, and striven to build itself into a demonstration operation base of the China-made civil aircraft.




Jiangxi province is the cradle of Chinese aviation industry and has a strong foundation in aviation industry. In recent years, Jiangxi province has given full play to the advantages of the aviation industry and fully supported the trunk liner industry to take root in Jiangxi. ARJ21 aircraft completes special flight test at highest civil airport in the world

ARJ21 AC103 completed a maximum take-off/landing height expansion flight test at Daocheng Yading Airport (4411 meters above sea level), the highest civil airport in the world, and returned to Shanghai on July 30th, 2020. After half a month of flight test, the take-off and landing capabilities of ARJ21 aircraft in the environment of a high plateau airport were fully verified, which marks that the operating range of ARJ21 aircraft can cover all the high plateau airports, laying a solid foundation for the opening of plateau routes in the future.

Plateau airports refer to the airports with an elevation of greater than 1,500 meters, among which those with an elevation of 1,500-2,438 meters are general plateau airports, and those with an elevation of 2,438 meters and above are high plateau airports. Plateau airports have thin air, complex terrain and changeable weather, which place higher requirements on aircraft performance and operation supporting capability. China has the most plateau airports, among which there are 19 high plateau airports mainly located in western China. At the beginning of the design of ARJ21 aircraft, the operational needs of western China were fully considered, and the plateau performance was taken as one of the most important design objectives. ARJ21 aircraft has carried out plateau flight tests at Golmud Airport (2,842 meters above sea level) and Huatugou Airport (2,905 meters above sea level) respectively in June 2013 and September 2017. With the special flight test at Daocheng Yading Airport, the maximum take-off/landing height is further expanded, and the reliability and plateau performance of ARJ21 aircraft are verified. Flight CZ3898 with a full passenger load took off from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and flew to Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport at 9:42 a.m. on July 15th, 2020, marking the official start of a new journey for commercial operation of the first China-made ARJ21 aircraft of China Southern Airlines. According to the fleet development plan, it was estimated that the size of ARJ21 aircraft fleet of China Southern Airlines would reach 35 by 2024.




Before the departure of the inaugural flight, a brief inaugural flight ceremony was held at Baiyun Airport. Mr. Ma Xulun, President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of China Southern Air Holding Company Limited, Mr. Zhao Yuerang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), Mr. Wei Yingbiao, Member of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of COMAC, Mr. Luo Laijun, Vice President and Member of the Party Leadership Group of China Southern Air Holding Company Limited, and Mr. Li Tongbin, Vice President and Chief Engineer of China Southern Airlines, attended the ceremony, and congratulated China Southern Airlines on the successful inaugural flight of the first ARJ21 aircraft. Mr. Zhao Yuerang, Mr. Wei Yingbiao and Mr. Li Tongbin rode on the aircraft to experience the inaugural flight.




Tickets for inaugural flight sell well, and new model of aircraft is extremely popular.




It is reported that the enthusiasm of passengers to try a ride on China-made ARJ21 aircraft is very high. The tickets for Flight CZ3898 of the inaugural flight were sold out in just a few days after selling is started on June 18th, and the sales speed and passenger load factor were far beyond those of other models on the same route, which is a huge hit. In addition, the passenger load factor of the flight operated by ARJ21 aircraft from Guangzhou to Jieyang had exceeded 70% within three days from July 16th to 18th.




On the same day, in order to celebrate the official launch of its first ARJ21 aircraft into commercial operation, China Southern Airlines carefully prepared the inaugural flight ceremony and set up a photo area with ARJ21 characteristics in the terminal building for passengers to take selfies. The cabin of ARJ21 aircraft is specially decorated. Both the bright Five-Starred Red Flag and the characteristic collocation of elements themed with "here comes ARJ" in the cabin highlighted the special significance of the inaugural flight.




In order to make passengers experience the safe, comfortable and smooth service of China-made aircraft, China Southern Airlines also set up a special check-in counter in the check-in area on the day of the inaugural flight, and assigned business backbones on site to assist passengers to quickly go through the procedures such check-in, consignment and health declaration, guide passengers to board the aircraft in an orderly manner, and ensure that the aircraft door is closed on time. As passengers boarded the aircraft one after another, the flight attendants presented a beautiful souvenir of inaugural flight to each passenger. Before the aircraft took off, the flight attendants introduced the features and operation of ARJ21 aircraft for passengers in detail.




"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. This is your captain speaking. On behalf of the crew, let me extend a very warm welcome to all of you who have chosen to take the inaugural flight of the first ARJ21 aircraft of China Southern Airlines from Guangzhou to Jieyang. ARJ21 aircraft is a new type of turbofan regional jet independently developed by China and owning independent intellectual property right. Today, the first ARJ21 aircraft of China Southern Airlines will officially start a new journey for commercial operation with missions and dreams." After the aircraft entered level flight, Captain Chen Fan, a Party member, welcomed the passengers on the inaugural flight with a distinctive captain's announcement.




Many passengers also took photos in the cabin. Madam Wang, a passenger, told the reporter: "When I heard that a China-made passenger aircraft would operate a flight to Chaoshan area, my hometown, I immediately bought a ticket for this flight. I can go home and then fly back to Guangzhou on the same day. I am very happy and very proud of this experience!"




Careful preparation and arrangement are made, and safe and comfortable flight experience is gained.




ARJ21 aircraft is a new type of turbofan regional jet independently developed by China and owning independent intellectual property right. After being introduced by China Southern Airlines, the first ARJ21 aircraft has successfully completed emergency drills, verification flights and flight training; and China Southern Airlines has completed the work such as operation standard formulation, manual revision and personnel training, which effectively improves the flight, maintenance and route support capabilities of the ARJ21 aircraft of China Southern Airlines, and successfully obtained operational approval from authorities, which provides strong support for the safe and efficient operation of the passenger aircraft.




The cabin layout and interiors of the ARJ21 aircraft of China Southern Airlines are custom-designed according to its own unique needs. Compared with other regional aircraft on the same route in the market, it has obvious comfort characteristics. The aircraft is in all economy-class cabin configuration with seats for 90 passengers, and the seats are arranged with two on the left and three on the right of the aisle in each row. The aisle is relatively spacious, with a width of 19 inches, so there is still room left and the aisle will not be blocked when the meal cart is passing through. Each seat is 17 inches wide, making it more spacious and more comfortable. The fore-and-aft clearance of the seats is 31 inches, which is the same as that of the seats in economy class on mainstream wide body aircraft. When a front seat is reclined backward, the lower end of the seat will move forward automatically, ensuring a relatively spacious seating space for a rear seat occupant. In addition, the rear part of each row of seats on the aircraft is equipped with USB charging ports, which are convenient for passengers to charge electronic devices.




Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is connected, and ARJ21 aircraft helps China Southern Airlines build "Guangzhou-Beijing" dual hub.




Relevant officials of China Southern Airlines introduced that the first ARJ21 aircraft was put into operation on the route of Guangzhou-Jieyang, which was a concrete action of China Southern Airlines to serve the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Shenzhen pilot demonstration area, and would provide a convenient air passage for Guangdong to accelerate the construction of the new regional development pattern of "one core, one belt and one area". It is reported that in the early stage of operation, China Southern Airlines will deploy ARJ21 aircraft at its headquarters in Guangzhou for operation. ARJ21-700 aircraft newly introduced by Air China Limited flew Flight CA1109 from Beijing Capital International Airport to Xilinhot Airport at 7:47 on July 10th, 2020, completing its inaugural flight successfully and entered into route operation officially.

Before the departure of the inaugural flight, a short and enthusiastic inaugural flight ceremony was held at the Capital Airport. Mr. Cai Jianjiang, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of China National Aviation Holding Corporation Limited (CNAH), Mr. He Dongfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), and Mr. Chai Weixi, Vice President of Air China, attended the ceremony, and congratulated Air China on the successful inaugural flight of the first ARJ21 aircraft. For most of the passengers taking this inaugural flight, it is the first time to take a China-made aircraft. From the moment they got the news, they became more excited and curious than ever before; and from the moment of they entered the cabin, they began to feel every detail of ARJ21 aircraft. The China-made aircraft gave a new meaning to this flight.

Mr. Chai Weixi presented an Air-China-customized ARJ21 model on behalf of Air China. Ulan Muqir artists dressed in national festival costumes sang and danced, offering holy Khata, and greeting guests from far away with melodious long tunes and unique vigor and heroism of the grassland.

As the main body of CNAH, Air China has its ARJ21 aircraft complete the inaugural flight in the route of Beijing-Xilinhot, which has greater significance. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, CNAH has resolutely implemented the requirements of the CPC Central Committee, resolutely taken fixed-point poverty alleviation as an important political responsibility, officially identified a fixed-point assistance relationship with Sonid Right Banner of Xilingol League in 2013, established an "8+2" assistance system, and made positive efforts. Sonid Right Banner lifted all 34 poverty-stricken villages out of poverty, and officially dropped from the list of poverty-stricken counties and banners in April 2019. CNAH has forged a profound friendship with Xilingol League in the course of poverty alleviation, and the route of Beijing-Xilinhot has witnessed CNAH and Xilingol League working together to depict the beautiful picture of poverty alleviation and prosperity.

In order to realize the early operation of ARJ21 aircraft by Air China, and make passengers experience the safe, comfortable and smooth service of China-made aircraft during journey, since the aircraft was delivered on June 28th, Air China has quickly coordinated the preparatory work before inaugural flight with its rigorous, professional and efficient operation support capability, and immediately put backbones in flight and ground posts as well as full-time and part-time instructors into practical training. Work related to ground support testing, from cabin/cargo compartment layout and ground support process watching and practice to special support vehicle testing, parking position testing and onboard service facility & equipment check, and even to the assembly/disassembly and operation demonstration of cabin/cargo compartment equipment, onboard emergency equipment and catering equipment, was successfully completed within three days after arriving in Beijing, and the aircraft was in good condition. In the subsequent flight training and verification flights, the flight, maintenance, and route support capabilities of the flight crew, flight attendants and maintenance team were further tempered and tuned in, operational approval was successfully obtained from authorities, and Air China has been fully prepared for the inaugural flight of ARJ21 aircraft.

ARJ21 aircraft has the characteristics of adaptability, comfort, economic efficiency, commonality and serialization. The comfort of ARJ21 aircraft can compare favorably with trunk liners, and the cabin space of ARJ21 aircraft is wider and higher than that of aircraft of the same kind. ARJ21 aircraft of Air China is in all economy-class cabin configuration with seats for 90 passengers. The seats are arranged in 18 rows with two seats on the left and three seats on the right of the aisle in each row, and are of the latest ultra-thin type made in China with a simple appearance and comfortable sitting. The spacing, seat back angle and width are comparable to the configuration level of the existing single-aisle passenger aircraft of Air China. At the same time, a USB power socket is provided for each passenger. The cabin interior uses the unified interior products for the whole Air China fleet, embodying "the unity of nature and mankind", the whole cabin is decorated with elements of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, and catering is consistent with the current route configuration standards in order to strive to provide passengers with a better travel experience.




As planned, Air China will receive three ARJ21-700 aircraft in 2020, which will fly the routes from Beijing Capital International Airport to Xilinhot, Baotou, Ulanhot and Hohhot of Inner Mongolia. The introduction of ARJ21 aircraft will help to supplement the regional aircraft transport capacity of Air China, promote the effective connection of Air China's main and regional flights, further expand the carrying capacity of the Air China fleet, further improve the overall route network layout of Air China, and enhance market competitiveness, so as to meet the popularized air travel demand of passengers.

As the aircraft of Flight EU6674 with a painting of "Chinese Dream" of Chengdu Airlines took off from Shangrao Sanqingshan Airport, and landed at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, ARJ21 aircraft ushered in the millionth passenger on July 20th, 2020.




Since the inaugural flight of ARJ21 aircraft on June 28th, 2016, Chengdu Airlines has accumulatively operated 21 ARJ21 aircraft in 46 domestic and international routes among 43 cities, and successively established six demonstration operation bases in the cities such as Chengdu, Quanzhou and Yinchuan, which gives full play to the advantage of China-made regional jet and promotes the development of local aviation economy. Now, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Genghis Khan Airlines and Jiangxi Air have also joined the ranks of ARJ21 aircraft operators. As a pioneer and forerunner of ARJ21 aircraft operation, Chengdu Airlines has done its best in ARJ21 aircraft operation over the years; set up and perfected ARJ21 aircraft operation management system, maintenance support system and training system; gradually built a route network structure that perforates through the north and the south, connects the east and the west, combines trunk and regional lines, and covers most regions in China; opened the international round-trip route between Harbin and Vladivostok, and the general plateau round-trip routes such as the round-trip route between Chengdu and Lanzhou; fostered 496 special personnel such as pilots for this aircraft; set up a good brand image of China-made commercial aircraft; and made positive contributions to the development of regional air transport in China. At Pudong base of the Assembly Manufacturing Center of COMAC, leaders of Shanghai listened to the introduction of Mr. He Dongfeng and Mr. Zhao Yuerang, asked about the development and construction of COMAC as well as the research and development progress of aircraft programs, visited the Aeronautical Manufacturing Technology Research Institute, numerical control workshop, and ARJ21 aircraft assembly shop and final assembly shop, and learned about the intelligent manufacturing and flexible production of the production line on site. At present, the flight test and certification of C919 aircraft is advancing steadily, and the batch production of ARJ21 aircraft is being improved in quality and speed. Although the development and production of the enterprise has been affected to some extent by the epidemic, with the joint efforts of all the staff, the lost time has been recovered, and the production and delivery of relevant aircraft are advancing according to the original schedule. Mr. Li Qiang said that COMAC had undertaken an important mission, and hoped that COMAC could always revolve around national needs, strengthen responsibility and actions, speed up technical research, accelerate the layout of the trunk liner industry, accelerate the research and manufacturing of "highly competitive products" that represent the future competitiveness of the country, make full use of the new generation of information technology to improve manufacturing capacity and level, and make new contributions to the development of the trunk liner career unceasingly. Shanghai would create a better environment and provide better services to help COMAC make greater breakthroughs and achieve better development in Shanghai.




Subsequently, relevant leaders attended the delivery ceremony of ARJ21 aircraft. ARJ21 aircraft is a new turbofan regional jet independently developed by China and having independent intellectual property rights. A total of 28 ARJ21 aircraft have been delivered to and operated by three commercial customers including Chengdu Airlines, Genghis Khan Airlines and Jiangxi Air. Up to now, ARJ21 aircraft have successively operated in more than 55 routes in more than 55 cities in the regions such as North China, Northeast China and Southwest China, and carried more than 860,000 passengers.




Chengdu Airlines is the first customer of ARJ21 aircraft. The first ARJ21 aircraft entered into route operation on June 28th, 2016. Up to now, Chengdu Airlines has received 20 ARJ21 aircraft, with the routes covering the regions such as East China, Central-South China, Southwest China, Northwest China, Northeast China and Russian Far East, basically forming a trunk and regional airline network across regions.




Genghis Khan Airlines is the first operator of a fleet purely composed of China-made jets in China. Genghis Khan Airlines received the first ARJ21 aircraft on February 22nd, 2019. Up to now, Genghis Khan Airlines has a fleet of 5 ARJ21 aircraft, serving the cities such as Hohhot, Ulanhot and Xilinhaote.




Jiangxi Air is the first operator of ARJ21 aircraft in East China. ARJ21 Jinggangshan, the first ARJ21 aircraft of Jiangxi Air, officially completed its maiden flight on May 15th, 2020. This time, COMAC delivered the second ARJ21 aircraft to Jiangxi Air.
