NEW LIVERY - Emirates freighter gets decked out in new livery

Emirates SkyCargo has updated one of its most recently delivered freighters with the airline’s new livery.

The Boeing 777 freighter (A6-EFV) was delivered in July 2024 without livery and was deployed immediately to serve “the booming global demand”, the airline said.

However, this week it has rolled out of Emirates Engineering as the first freighter to be decked out in the airline’s new livery. The updated paint job took eight days to complete.

"The biggest change is to the UAE flag on the tailfin, which has been a staple of the Emirates branding since the very beginning," Emirates SkyCargo said in a press release.

"Now, the design is more dynamic and flowing, with 3D effect artwork; likewise, the iconic gold lettering across the main body in English and Arabic is bigger and bolder.

"The Arabic calligraphy on the engines remains, as does the iconic red branding on the aircraft belly, ensuring key elements of the airline’s identity remain consistent."

The new livery was first unveiled in March 2023 and is the third iteration of Emirates’ aircraft brand colours since launch in 1985.

All 10 Boeing 777 freighters in Emirates’ fleet will be gradually scheduled for their paint jobs and new freighters, of which Emirates SkyCargo has 13 on order, will arrive fully decked out on delivery.

Earlier this year, the airline added two more Boeing 747 freighters as it anticipates further demand growth in the air cargo market this year.

Following the addition of the two freighters, Emirates’ all-cargo fleet now consists of 10 Boeing 777Fs and six Boeing 747Fs. It also has 13 more 777Fs on order for delivery over the next two years and is considering an order for next generation 777-8Fs or Airbus A350-1000Fs.

FLEET - Emirates orders more B777Fs

Boeing announced that Emirates has ordered additional B777Fs. In total, the manufacturer received an order for five more freighters, which are are scheduled to be delivered in 2026.

The order was likely already placed in June, when Boeing reported an order for five B777Fs by an undisclosed customer.

Today, Emirates already operates eleven B777Fs and previously held another five open orders for the type. Next to these new B777Fs, the airline is als oplanning to convert at least four of its B777-300ERs into freighters. All new aircraft will be used for expansion and replacement of older B777Fs in the fleet.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 15, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Emirates today announced an order for two 777 Freighters at the 2021 Dubai Airshow, expanding the future capability of one of the world's largest cargo airlines at a time of significant global demand for air freight.

The freighters will be operated by Emirates SkyCargo, which currently operates an all-Boeing fleet of 10 777 Freighters and also carries cargo on Emirates' 134 777 passenger airplanes. Valued at more than $704 million at list prices, the orders were previously attributed to an unidentified customer on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website.

The 777 Freighter – Boeing's best-selling freighter of all time – is the world's largest, longest-range and most capable twin-engine freighter. The airplane reduces fuel use and CO2 emissions by 17% compared to legacy airplanes. With a range of 9,200 kilometers, the 777 Freighter can carry a maximum revenue payload of 102,000 kilograms, allowing airlines to make fewer stops and reduce landing fees on long-haul routes.

Emirates SkyCargo takes leading role in advancing air cargo industry standards with IATA CargoiQ membership

Emirates SkyCargo wins International Air Cargo Carrier of the Year award in India

Mumbai, India and Dubai, 8 February 2016: Emirates SkyCargo has been named International Air Cargo Carrier of the Year at the Economic Times Logistics’ Awards in India. Organised by The Economic Times, India’s largest financial daily and the world’s second largest financial daily after The Wall Street Journal, the awards aim to recognise excellence in logistics that can set benchmarks for the respective industries in India.

KPMG India, one of India’s largest auditing and advisory company, rated the nominees on a set of criteria, including connectivity offered, the annual turnover and growth of the company. The winners were selected by a panel of judges nominated by the organisers.

Emirates SkyCargo to Launch Weekly Freighter Service to Columbus

MUNICH, GERMANY, 6 MAY 2015 – Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, has announced that Columbus, the State Capital of Ohio in the United States, will join its global freighter network with the launch of a weekly service to Rickenbacker International Airport from 27 May 2015. 

The new freighter service to America’s 15th largest city will become Emirates SkyCargo’s 48th destination in its worldwide freighter network and sixth in the US. The announcement was made on the side lines of the 7th Air Cargo Europe Exhibition and Conference taking place in Munich, Germany, where Emirates SkyCargo is showcasing its products and services. 

The flight will be operated by an Emirates SkyCargo Boeing 777 Freighter, which has the capacity to carry just over 100 tonnes of cargo, and with its main deck cargo door being one of the widest of any aircraft, enables it to uplift outsized cargo and carry larger consignments. 

“Our freighters play a major role in our network strategy, and with the addition of Columbus to our freighter schedule, we will be able to connect businesses in the US mid-west and the rest of our global network through our Dubai hub, thereby improving freight connectivity and creating new opportunities for American companies to reach new markets. Emirates SkyCargo Expands its US Network with Orlando Launch

DUBAI, U.A.E.,17th April 2015: Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, is set to expand its United States cargo network to 11 destinations, when the airline launches a daily service to Orlando, Florida from 1st September 2015.

The Dubai – Orlando route will be served by a Boeing 777-200 LR, which has a belly-hold capacity of up to 17 tonnes of cargo per flight. Emirates SkyCargo also has belly-hold cargo services to San Francisco, Seattle, Washington D.C., Boston, Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston, with the latter four cities also forming part of the air cargo carrier’s United States freighter network, along with Atlanta.

“With the addition of Orlando to the Emirates SkyCargo network, we will now serve 11 points across the US, giving us good connectivity to serve our customers both within the country and across our network. Last year we carried more than 100,000 tonnes of cargo to and from the United States, facilitating foreign trade and opportunities between the world’s largest economy and markets within our network, mainly in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, said Nabil Sultan, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Cargo.

“Every week, for example, we carry items such as auto parts out of JFK, lobsters from Boston, oil field equipment from Houston, and aircraft parts from Seattle, among many other types of commodities and products from various points in the US,” he added.

Emirates SkyCargo currently has weekly capacity of 1,690 tonnes in both the belly hold of passenger aircraft and freighter flights out of the US.

It expects to carry a range of exports from Orlando including aircraft parts, pharmaceuticals, perfume and colognes and machine parts. Imports are likely to beelectronics, garments, automotive spare parts, aircraft spare parts, construction equipment, hospital instruments and equipment. Catchment areas for both imports and exports moving through Orlando and carried by Emirates SkyCargo are expected to include Miami, Tampa and Atlanta.

Emirates flight EK 219 will depart Dubai International Airport at 0350hrs local time and arrive at Orlando International Airport Terminal at 1140hrs local time. The return flight, EK 220 will depart Orlando International at 1420hrs  and arrive into Dubai at 1230hrs the following day.

Emirates SkyCargo, the Dubai-based air freight division of Emirates, has been voted Cargo Airline of the Year and - for the 24th consecutive year - it was also named Best Middle East Cargo Airline.
The carrier, which was also named Best African Cargo Airline, received the accolades at the prestigious Cargo Airline of the Year 2012 awards held at London's Lancaster Hotel.
Ram Menen, Emirates' Divisional Senior Vice President Cargo, attended the awards ceremony and later said: "These awards are voted for by our industry and their recognition of the continued success of Emirates SkyCargo is a great honour."
Emirates SkyCargo received the awards at a time of continuing growth. A fourth Boeing 777F joined its fleet earlier in 2012, taking its dedicated fleet to eight aircraft, with a further nine Boeing 777Fs on order.
Since January 2012, Emirates has introduced services to eight new destinations: Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Dublin, Dallas, Lusaka, Harare, Liege and Seattle. It will also launch flights to Ho Chi Minh City in June, Lisbon and Barcelona in July, and Washington DC in September.
Emirates SkyCargo currently serves a route network of over 120 destinations from its Dubai hub, spanning six continents across the globe.
The Cargo Airline of the Year 2012 awards are organised by trade magazine Air Cargo News and attract votes from freight forwarders around the world. The awards are the only event where the British International Freight Association audits and approves the votes cast.
