California Pacific Airlines to open Carlsbad base in 4Q18

ADI Aerodynamics (4A, Pontiac) has announced it has now formally rebranded as California Pacific Airlines (4A, Carlsbad, CA) with the first flights under the name to be conducted from September 1 onwards.

Following repeated failures in securing its own Air Carrier Certificate (ACC) from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), CPAir founder Ted Vallas acquired ADI in November last year for an undisclosed sum.

The Michigan-based carrier said in a statement that the rebranding would apply to all of its operations including Essential Air Service (EAS) routes currently operated between Pierre and Watertown, SD in South Dakota and Denver Int'l in Colorado.

In a related development, CPAir, as it is colloquially known, recently signed a lease agreement with McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, CA which will serve as the airline's US West Coast base.
