FLEET - Azorra Completes Acquisition And Placement Of Egyptair A220-300 Portfolio

Azorra is today announcing the successful acquisition of 12 Airbus A220-300 aircraft from EGYPTAIR.

Purchased in February 2024 to support EGYPTAIR’s fleet transformation program, the twelfth and final aircraft has been delivered to Breeze Airways.

SPECIAL COLOURS - EgyptAir celebrates 95th birthday with a retrojet

EgyptAir is celebrating its 95th birthday this year. As part of the celebrations, the airline has unveiled a retrojet-livery on Boeing B737-81M SU-GGB (44422). The aircraft was unveiled in Cairo on 6 May 2026.

The livery is the one the airline introduced in the 1980s, featuring red and gold. It conducted its first commercial flight on the day of introduction, flying from Cairo to Hurghada.

EgyptAir was founded on 10 October 1971 as the successor to United Arab Airlines. It currently operates a fleet of 73 aircraft.

First of 18 737-8 airplanes leased from SMBC Aviation Capital to join Egypt's national carrier's fleet

Boeing (NYSE: BA) and EgyptAir announced today the Egyptian national airline took delivery of its first 737 MAX. The 737-8 is the first of 18 airplanes leased from SMBC Aviation Capital to be delivered and represents the first 737 MAX in Egypt.

Boeing and EgyptAir announced today the Egyptian national airline took delivery of its first 737 MAX. The 737-8 is the first of 18 airplanes leased from SMBC Aviation Capital to be delivered and represents the first 737 MAX in Egypt.

The 737-8 complements EgyptAir's fleet of 30 Next-Generation 737 jets with operational commonality and enhanced efficiency, reducing fuel use and emissions by 20% compared to the airplanes it replaces. As part of its fleet renewal program, EgyptAir will deploy the new aircraft on short- and medium-haul routes to destinations such as Paris, Brussels, Istanbul and Vienna.

Toulouse, France 09 February 2026 - EGYPTAIR has taken delivery of its first of 16 Airbus A350‑900 on order, becoming the launch operator for the type in North Africa. The A350 will support the airline’s long‑haul fleet modernisation and network expansion with new non‑stop routes to key destinations including the US West Coast and North Asia, from its Cairo hub. EGYPTAIR currently operates an Airbus fleet of eight A320neos, seven A321neos and 11 A330 Family aircraft, including five A330-200P2F.

The aircraft features a two-class configuration, comprising 30 Business Class suites with direct aisle access and 310 Economy Class seats. The unique, latest-generation Airspace cabin is designed to improve the long-haul experience for both passengers and crew through enhanced ergonomics and greater comfort.

The A350 is the world’s most modern widebody aircraft, designed to fly up to 9,700 nautical miles / 18,000 kilometres non-stop, setting new standards for intercontinental travel. The aircraft includes state-of-the-art technologies and aerodynamics delivering unmatched standards of efficiency and comfort. Its latest generation Rolls-Royce engines and use of lightweight materials bring a 25 per cent advantage in fuel burn, operating costs and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, compared to previous generation competitor aircraft.

As with all Airbus aircraft, the A350 aircraft is already able to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus is targeting to have its aircraft up to 100% SAF capable by 2030.

At the end of January 2026, the A350 Family had won over 1,500 orders from 67 customers worldwide.

FLEET - EgyptAir’s first Airbus A350-900 (registration SU-GGE, MSN 767) successfully completed its maiden test flight from Toulouse on January 22, 2026. As a new A350 operator, this aircraft marks a major fleet modernization, with plans to operate up to eight A350-900s by late 2026 to enhance long-haul, particularly U.S., routes.

ORDER - BOC AVIATION SIGNS LEASE AGREEMENT WITH EGYPTAIR FOR THREE A350-900 AIRCRAFT

ORDERS - EGYPTAIR discloses order for an additional 6 Airbus A350 aircraft

Paris, France, 18 June 2025 – EGYPTAIR has disclosed a firm order for an additional six A350-900s as part of its expansion strategy to meet growing demand for air travel. The agreement takes the airline’s total order for the type to 16 A350-900.

DUBAI AIR SHOW 2023 - EGYPTAIR announces order for 10 A350-900s to meet growing demand for air travel

Dubai – EGYPTAIR customers will soon be flying to destinations around the globe aboard new Airbus A350-900s, after the airline disclosed an order for 10 aircraft at the Dubai Airshow.

Once added to the fleet, the A350-900s will provide EGYPTAIR with 25% less fuel burn and, in turn, reduced emissions, while passengers enjoy the comfort of the Airbus AirSpace cabin, including a feeling of true spaciousness, wide seats, high ceilings and alluring ambient lighting.

The signing took place at the 2023 Dubai Airshow, in the presence of EGYPTAIR’s Chairman and CEO, Engineer Yehia Zakaria and Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, Christian Scherer.

NEW AIRCRAFT - EGYPTAIR takes delivery of Africa’s first Airbus A321neo

Hamburg – EGYPTAIR took delivery of its first A321neo from Airbus’ Delivery Centre in Hamburg, making the airline the first African operator of the aircraft.

EGYPTAIR has specified a high comfort, two-class configuration with 16 Business class seats and 166 Economy class seats, and will increase the airline’s single aisle capacity to the Middle East, Africa and Europe. The aircraft is on lease from AerCap and is powered by CFM engines.

The A321neo is the largest-fuselage member of Airbus’ best-selling single-aisle A320 Family and brings a 20 percent reduction in fuel consumption and emissions per seat compared with previous generation competing aircraft. This enables EGYPTAIR to benefit from enhanced efficiency and be able to deliver on its commitment to sustainability, whilst reducing operating costs.

This modern aircraft joins EGYPTAIR’s Airbus fleet of 12 A220s, 8 A320neos, 2 A320ceos 4 A330-200, 4 A330-300. With the addition of the A321neo, EGYPTAIR is demonstrating continuous ambitions to expand its Airbus fleet to meet current and future demand.

Across all its aircraft families, Airbus’ unique approach ensures that aircraft share the highest commonality in airframes, on-board systems, cockpits and handling characteristics. This significantly reduces operating costs and maximises the airline's profitability.

The delivery flight from Hamburg to Cairo was powered by 34 percent Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blend. SAF is a sustainably-produced aviation fuel made from feedstocks ranging from used fat, oil and grease to municipal and forestry waste. Compared to fossil jet fuel, SAF has been demonstrated to result in an up to 80 percent reduction in CO2 emissions across the entire SAF lifecycle. Therefore, it is considered as a key enabler to contribute to the decarbonisation of aviation.

Currently, all Airbus commercial aircraft are capable of flying with an up to 50 percent SAF blend mixed with kerosene and are targeted to be capable for 100 percent SAF use in flight by the end of this decade. Since March 2021, Airbus has successfully accomplished 100 percent SAF test flights on A319neo, A350 and A380 aircraft.

  DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 18, 2019 — EGYPTAIR is growing its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet with an agreement to lease two more airplanes from AerCap, the airline announced today at the Dubai Airshow. The Egyptian flag carrier unveiled it had selected the super-efficient airplane to modernize its fleet during the last Dubai Airshow in 2017.
  
  The carrier began operating the 787-9 this year, deploying the Dreamliner on new direct flights from its hub in Cairo to Washington, D.C., and other cities. EGYPTAIR says the 787s have delivered on the Dreamliner’s promise of unmatched efficiency, providing a 23-percent reduction in fuel consumption compared to the airplanes they replaced.
  
  “The Boeing 787 Dreamliner has outperformed our expectations, helping us significantly reduce our fuel use and emissions, while bringing comfort to our passengers,” said Ahmed Adel, chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR Holding Company. “We look forward to growing our network with additional 787-9 airplanes and flying more passengers to their destinations at an affordable cost.”
  
  To maintain its fleet of 787s, the carrier also announced agreements with Boeing this week that would provide EGYPTAIR with global access to critical aircraft components, including a Landing Gear Exchange and Quick Engine Change kit solutions.
  
  EGYPTAIR joins other 787 operators in expanding its commitment to the Dreamliner program after experiencing the airplane in revenue service. More than half of all 787 customers have placed repeat orders for the airplane, helping the Dreamliner become the fastest-selling widebody airplane in history. The biggest 787 customer is Dublin-based AerCap with 117 airplanes owned and on order. AerCap will lease a total of eight 787s to EGYPTAIR.

  At 63 meters (206 feet) long, the 787-9 can fly 296 passengers, in a typical two-class configuration, up to 7,530 nautical miles (13,950 kilometers). The airplane is 6 meters longer than the original Dreamliner and is capable of carrying 48 more passengers with increased range. The 787 Dreamliner family has won more than 1450 orders from over 80 customers on six continents.
  
  
  

First EgyptAir A220-300 makes maiden flight

The first A220-300 for EgyptAir has successfully completed its inaugural test flight from the Mirabel assembly line. The first of 12 aircraft EgyptAir has on order is due to be delivered to the Cairo-based airline in the coming weeks.

The A220 for EgyptAir will provide passengers with superior comfort, its innovative cabin design featuring the widest economy seats of any single-aisle aircraft, and panoramic windows for more natural light. The aircraft, which is outfitted with a brand new cabin layout of 134 seats, will now enter its final phase of completion before delivery.

The A220 delivers unbeatable fuel efficiency and true wide-body comfort in a single-aisle aircraft. The A220 brings together state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials and Pratt & Whitney’s latest-generation PW1500G geared turbofan engines to offer at least 20% lower fuel burn per seat compared to previous generation aircraft. With a range of up to 3,400 nm (6,300 km), the A220 offers the performance of larger single-aisle aircraft.

More than 80 A220 aircraft are flying with five operators on regional and transcontinental routes in Asia, America, Europe and Africa, proving the great versatility of Airbus’ latest addition.
