SPECIAL LIVERYS - United Celebrates America with Custom 250th Anniversary Livery and Military Pilot Hiring Program Milestone

United's new "Stars and Stripes" livery takes to the skies this summer on a U.S.-built Boeing 787-10 and Boeing 737-800 featuring a bold red, white and blue design

Nearly 600 pilots have transitioned from military service to United since 2024 through its military pilot pathway program

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy and United CEO Scott Kirby visit Washington Dulles International Airport to celebrate America's 250th anniversary and the airline's pilot hiring milestone

WASHINGTON, June 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- United today unveiled a new specialty "Stars and Stripes" livery that celebrates the nation's 250th anniversary and announced a milestone to the airline's United Military Pilot Program, an initiative that provides currently serving active-duty U.S. military pilots access to a conditional job offer with the airline much earlier than they were previously afforded.

Since 2024, nearly 600 military pilots have transitioned to United through the program, with 500 more expected by the end of 2027.

To celebrate America's 250th anniversary, United's new specialty livery takes to the skies this summer on a U.S.-built Boeing 787-10 and Boeing 737-800. Painted in Amarillo, Texas, the bold red, white and blue design features 50 stars representing states across the country, while diagonal red and white stripes reflect the energy and momentum of a nation always moving forward. Both aircraft will include a commemorative plaque dedicated to United's active-duty service members and veterans who have selflessly served our country.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy and United CEO Scott Kirby were joined by United employees, including those from United's Veterans' Business Resource Group, and local dignitaries at Washington Dulles International Airport to celebrate America's 250th anniversary and the airline's pilot hiring milestone.

"America is the greatest country in the world, and we're proud to play a role in celebrating our nation's 250th anniversary," said Kirby. "For 100 years of that history, United has been a pioneering U.S. company, investing in people and communities across the country. Today, we proudly employ more than 8,300 military veterans, of which 1,500 are active members of the National Guard and Reserve forces. Our 'Stars and Stripes' livery pays tribute to their service to our country that continues to make America strong."

"It's great to see United join this administration's call to celebrate America's historic birthday," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy. "This patriotic design will remind the American people of the many freedoms we enjoy and how lucky we are to be part of the Great American Experiment!"

FLEET - Qantas evaluates order for 20 widebody jets

Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) is in discussions with Airbus and Boeing regarding a potential order for approximately 20 widebody aircraft, which could either be incremental B787s or A350-900s, Reuters reported, citing unnamed industry sources.

Both manufacturers declined to comment. Qantas said it is "in regular contact with aircraft manufacturers as part of our ongoing fleet planning" and currently has no information to share.

According to ch-aviation data, Qantas has outstanding widebody orders, comprising twenty-four A350-1000s, four B787-9s, and eight B787-10s. It is also expecting forty-two more A321-200NY(XLR) narrowbody jets.

The A350-1000 backlog includes 12 ultra-long range variants that will operate non-stop flights from Australia to London Heathrow or New York JFK under an initiative dubbed Project Sunrise. Deliveries of the first aircraft have been delayed by four months to April 2027 due to supply chain issues, as previously reported by ch-aviation.

Presently, the Australian flag carriers operates six A321-200NY(XLR)s, sixteen A330-200s, twelve A330-300s, ten A380-800s, seventy-nine B737-800s, as well as fourteen B787-9s.

ROUTES - TAAG schedules resumption of China flights

TAAG Angola Airlines (DT, Luanda 4 De Fevereiro) has re-filed scheduled weekly flights between Luanda Dr António Agostinho Neto and Guangzhou, China, starting on June 23 and using B787-10 equipment, according to AeroRoutes.

The flights are not yet reflected in the airline's online booking engine, ch-aviation research shows, but a spokesperson for TAAG confirmed the route was in the "pipeline" and pending an official announcement.

In January, AeroRoutes reported that TAAG planned to launch 3x weekly flights to Guangzhou with B787-9s on March 30, but the airline could not confirm this at the time to ch-aviation.

TAAG operated scheduled passenger flights to Beijing Capital before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Angolan state-owned flag carrier is looking to China to unlock its intra-African routes in terms of feeder traffic. It will be the only Southern African airline flying directly to China, banking on offering brand-new infrastructure at its hub at Luanda's new Dr António Agostinho Neto airport, new B787 equipment, and shorter flight times compared to connections via elsewhere in Africa or the United Arab Emirates.

ORDER -Biman Bangladesh Airlines Orders 14 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX Jets

Bangladeshi flag carrier to fly the entire 787 family with first 787-10 purchase

737 operator places first 737 MAX order to modernize its single-aisle fleet

DHAKA, Bangladesh, April 30, 2026 /PRNewswire(opens in a new tab)/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Biman Bangladesh Airlines announced today the national carrier has placed its largest-ever order, selecting 14 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX airplanes to expand and modernize its fleet.

The new order includes:

Boeing-Biman-787-737

Boeing and Biman Bangladesh Airlines announce the national carrier has placed its largest-ever order, selecting 14 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX airplanes to expand and modernize its fleet.

Eight 787-10s, Biman's first order of the largest 787 variant, to serve high-demand flights to the Middle East
Two 787-9s to support long-haul service to Europe and North America
Four 737-8s, the airline's first 737 MAX order, to efficiently connect Bangladesh with destinations across the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia

"The new fuel-efficient, technologically advanced aircraft will modernize Biman's fleet, sharpen operational performance, and extend its international route network — strengthening Bangladesh's position in the global aviation market," said Kaizer Sohel Ahmed, Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

Biman currently operates a fleet of 14 Boeing airplanes – 787-9s, 787-8s, 777s and Next-Generation 737s – on its long-haul and short-haul international networks. The airline will boost passenger and cargo capacity while improving fuel efficiency with the 787-10, which offers the lowest cost per seat of any widebody airplane.

The 737-8 will support Biman's single-aisle fleet renewal and help the carrier meet growing regional demand. The 737 MAX and 787 families deliver 20-25% fuel-use improvement compared to the airplanes they replace.

"We are proud to build on our partnership with Biman with this order and support their strategy to modernize their fleet, expand their network and enhance the passenger experience," said Paul Righi, Boeing vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing, Eurasia, India and South Asia. "The 787-10 delivers unmatched efficiency and seamless commonality with Biman's existing 787s, while the 737-8 is the ideal bridge from their 737 fleet with its versatility, fuel savings and crew commonality."

The 787-10, like the 787-9 and 787-8, offers passengers a comfortable cabin experience with the largest windows of any widebody jet, air that is less dry and pressurized at a lower cabin altitude, and technology that senses and counters turbulence for a smoother ride.

Biman currently flies from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to 22 international destinations, including major hubs in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and Europe. The airline's longest route is the service to Toronto via Istanbul on a 787-9.

Boeing's Commercial Market Outlook projects South Asia's widebody fleet will more than triple over 20 years as the region's carriers connect millions of travelers to international destinations across the Middle East, Europe and North America. With the region poised for significant air travel demand over the next two decades, Bangladesh will continue to contribute to this growth.

A leading global aerospace company and top U.S. exporter, Boeing develops, manufactures and services commercial airplanes, defense products and space systems for customers in more than 150 countries. Our U.S. and global workforce and supplier base drive innovation, economic opportunity, sustainability and community impact. ORDER - El Al firms six B787-9 options, converts some to -10s

El Al Israel Airlines (LY, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) has firmed six purchase rights for B787-9s, while simultaneously securing six new options for the same aircraft type from Boeing. The airline will also convert four of its B787-9 fleet to the larger B787-10 variant.

"This expansion will enable us to increase capacity, improve flight availability, and support the continued growth of our network, particularly on long-haul routes, while enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening the customer experience across all classes," the Israeli flag carrier said in a statement.

"By the end of the decade, our Dreamliner fleet is expected to grow from 17 aircraft today to 28, with potential to expand to 34 in the future," it added.

The newly firmed orders are scheduled for delivery between 2030 and 2032, while the newly secured options, if converted, would cover deliveries between 2033 and 2035.

El Al said in a stock market filing that it expected the total cost of the new agreement would be around USD1.5 billion.

The airline currently operates four B787-8s (of which three have yet to resume operations after the airspace restrictions caused by the war on Iran) and thirteen B787-9s. Including the newly firmed options and the conversions, its remaining order book with the manufacturer comprises seven more B787-9s and four B787-10s, as well as the six additional options. The airline's widebody fleet also includes five legacy B777-200ERs.

Korean Air shareholders vote to drop KAL brand

HL8573 - B787-10 - Ton Jochems - AMS

Korean Air (KE, Seoul Incheon) shareholders have approved an amendment to the company's articles of incorporation, formally retiring the "KAL" brand in favour of "Korean Air" and its IATA two‑letter code "KE".

The decision was taken at a shareholders' meeting on March 26, 2026.

The "KAL" brand was reportedly dropped to reset the airline's identity and eliminate any negative associations with the name, which has been in use since 1962.

Other Hanjin Group businesses that currently include "KAL" in their titles are also expected to phase out the brand.

Coastliner" Airbus A321neo will fly between West Coast hubs in Los Angeles and San Francisco and Newark/New York starting later this summer – includes all-aisle access lie-flat United Polaris® business class seat and United Polaris lounge access, a first for United's domestic travelers

Airbus A321XLR with United Polaris seats will replace Boeing 757s on existing routes to smaller cities in Europe and South America starting this summer

New 787-9 with the Elevated interior will fly internationally starting on April 22 - featuring new United Polaris Studio℠ suites and the most total premium seats in United's fleet

Since 2021, United has added 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, 237 Boeing 737 MAX and 67 Airbus A321neos, completed 70% of its plan to retrofit its mainline narrow-body fleet, replaced more than 100 regional jets with larger aircraft; increased premium seats per North American departure by 40%, and hired more than 60,000 people

New fleet and product offerings reflect United's focus on delivering a premium experience and offering something new for every customer

CHICAGO and LOS ANGELES, March 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines today announced the next phase of its long-term plan to win brand loyal customers and further differentiate itself from competitors.

United to Add 250+ Planes in Next Two Years – Most by Any Airline – Includes New, Premium Customer Experiences, Aircraft Variants, Subfleet, Seats and Amenities

The airline expects to take delivery of more than 250 new aircraft by April 2028 – the most by any airline in a two-year period – to further modernize its fleet, add new aircraft variants, create a new experience for transcontinental travelers and introduce new onboard products for every customer, reinforcing United's position as a leading premium airline.

United is adding widebody experiences to its new, narrowbody aircraft: the new "Coastliner" Airbus A321 subfleet and A321XLR are United's first narrowbodies with the Elevated interior and feature a new, all-aisle access lie-flat seat in United Polaris with a patented design that offers more elbow and shoulder room and lower suite walls that protect privacy while maintaining an open feel in the cabin. United has 100 of these new airplanes coming into its fleet, and they'll replace 40 older, less efficient Boeing 757s.

The Coastliner will have a specially designed livery and fly exclusively between United's west coast hubs in San Francisco and Los Angeles and Newark/New York and will introduce the United Polaris cabin experience to domestic travelers. For the first time, customers traveling in United Polaris on these routes can also get access to the United Polaris lounge.

United's A321XLR gives travelers access to 32 premium seats – 16 more than the 757 it replaces – and will start flying later this year.

The CRJ450 – a reimagined and redesigned version of the CRJ200 will be operated by SkyWest and will connect smaller cities to the airline's Denver and Chicago hubs starting this fall. This will be one of United's most premium regional jets, boasting a spacious United First cabin with a large luggage closet instead of overhead bins, creating an open, luxurious environment unlike any other commercial regional aircraft.

United's new 787-9 with the Elevated interior will fly internationally starting on April 22. These planes include the airline's new United Polaris Studio: lie-flat, all-aisle-access seats that are 25% larger than standard United Polaris seats and include privacy doors*, an ottoman for companions on some seats, exclusive meal service with wine pairings and caviar, new amenity kits with retail-size offerings, wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity and a huge 27-inch, 4K OLED seatback screen – the largest among U.S. carriers.
Today's announcement expands on the successful and ambitious 'United Next' growth strategy announced in 2021. Since that time, United has added 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, 237 Boeing 737 MAX and 67 Airbus A321neos, completed 70% of its plan to retrofit its mainline, narrow-body fleet, replaced more than 100 regional jets with larger mainline aircraft; increased premium seats per North American departure by 40% and hired more than 60,000 people.

"For more than a decade, we've invested billions of dollars in our product, service, and technology as part of our plan to be the best brand loyal airline in the world, and the result is that more and more customers are choosing to fly us every day," said United CEO Scott Kirby. "Today we accelerate our plans and elevate our offerings to the next level, creating an even more consistent, premium onboard experience for every customer and delivering value across every cabin of service."

"These new planes and products not only complement our fleet and network plans, but they also give our customers more premium amenity and seat choices – whether they bought a basic economy ticket to fly from Chicago to Ft. Wayne or are flying Polaris between San Francisco and Singapore," said United Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Nocella. "United is setting the pace and innovating for our customers at a scope and scale unheard of in aviation history – and we're not taking our foot off the gas."

New airplanes joining United's fleet between now and April of 2028 include:

47 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners with the Elevated interior
33 will be configured with additional premium seats
40 Airbus A321neo Coastliners out of 50 total on order
28 Airbus A321XLR out of 50 total on order
119 Boeing 737 MAX
18 Airbus A321neos
A Widebody Experience on a Narrowbody Jet

The new A321neo Coastliner and A321XLR feature a custom-designed, all-aisle access lie-flat seat in United Polaris that brings the same feeling of spaciousness and comfort that customers enjoy on widebody airplanes to these new narrowbody jets. This new suite is wider at the shoulder and elbow than similar competitor products and has semi-translucent suite dividers that create an open feeling in the cabin while still maintaining passenger privacy. The patented design is the result of more than five years of research and development – including two rounds of customer sleep trials – to ensure it has ample space for customers to relax comfortably, an intuitive layout and easy-to-access features.

The addition of the A321neo Coastliner and A321XLR – combined with airline's existing fleet – means United will soon offer nearly double the number of lie-flat seats than its next closest competitor.

"Coastliner" Airbus A321neo

The Airbus A321neo Coastliner was custom designed to give transcontinental customers an even better experience – the interior of the plane is all-new from nose-to-tail, with 20 new, all-aisle access lie-flat seats in United Polaris, 12 United Premium Plus® seats – a first for narrowbody domestic flights – and 129 United Economy® seats. United removed three seats from the standard configuration of this plane to make room for a snack bar in the rear of the plane, so customers traveling in Economy can grab their favorite snack or non-alcoholic beverage anytime during their flight.

United Polaris customers traveling on the Coastliner will receive the similar amenities enjoyed by customers on international flights, including Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, Perricone MD skincare in the amenity kits, and premium headphones with Meridian technology. And – for the first time – customers flying in United Polaris on this aircraft can get access to the United Polaris lounge.

The Coastliner will be easy to spot in the sky thanks to a new livery that pays homage to the coastal destinations it serves. Distinctive bands in bright shades of blue wrap around the back third of the airplane, and United's name is painted proudly on the aircraft belly for those lucky enough to spot it from below – particularly from the iconic plane spotting locations near Los Angeles International Airport.

The routes the Coastliner will fly are some of United's busiest – on average, more than 10,000 passengers fly between the airline's West Coast hubs in San Francisco and Los Angeles and Newark/New York every day – and connect from there to the airline's leading global route network, with Hong Kong, Melbourne, Shanghai, Sydney and Taipei being the most popular onward destinations. United serves 17 destinations across the Pacific from its west coast hubs and 42 destinations across the Atlantic from Newark/New York – more than any other U.S. airline. The first of United's 50 planned Coastliners will start flying this summer, and the airline expects 40 of them to be flying by early 2028.

Airbus A321XLR

The Airbus A321XLR was also designed from the ground up to be the airline's most premium narrowbody airplane, capable of providing a new level of comfort and style for those traveling on international short-to medium-haul routes. This airplane has 32 premium seats – 16 more than the 757s it replaces – including a new all-aisle access lie-flat United Polaris suite with a privacy door. Every seat has a large, 4K OLED screen with Bluetooth connectivity, ranging in size from 19 inches in Polaris, 16 inches in United Premium Plus and 13 inches in United Economy and everyone has access to larger overhead bins with room for rollaboard bags. Just like the Coastliner, the A321XLR features a snack bar in the rear of the Economy cabin.

The A321XLR will replace United's Boeing 757 fleet on some existing international routes starting this summer, and in the future, will open new destinations for the airline in Europe and South America. United will launch this new plane with a special "Born to Explore" decal, in celebration of the new flying this airplane makes possible. 50 A321XLRs are expected to join United's fleet and more than half of them are expected to be in service by 2028.

CRJ450

The 41-seat CRJ450 is a first-of-its kind regional aircraft designed to evoke a feeling of a private jet experience for travelers in the United First cabin. In a first for a U.S. commercial airline, the overhead bins in United First have been removed in favor of a large luggage closet, creating a spacious, airy environment. The Economy cabin features overhead bins large enough to fit rollaboard bags – uncommon on regional jets of this size – and all new trim and finish that's consistent with United's larger aircraft. Every passenger onboard can enjoy free Starlink Wi-Fi if they're a member of MileagePlus, keeping them connected to work and entertainment just like they are at home.

The CRJ450 joins the popular CRJ550 – an airplane that marked the start of United's reimagining of its regional fleet when it launched in 2019. The CRJ550 has among the highest customer satisfaction scores of any regional aircraft. By 2028, United expects to have more than 50 CRJ450s and nearly 120 CRJ550s in service, giving travelers a stylish, premium option to connect primarily from smaller cities to United's hubs and global network.

Boeing 787-9 Elevated

In less than a year from when it was first announced, United has taken delivery of its first three Boeing 787-9 aircraft with the all-new Elevated interior – a nose-to-tail transformation across every cabin. With 99 premium seats, this aircraft is United's most premium international aircraft yet and marks the debut of United Polaris Studio – a new seat that's 25% larger than the standard United Polaris seat and includes privacy doors, an extra ottoman for companions, exclusive meal service with wine pairings and caviar, new amenity kits with retail-size offerings, wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity, and a huge 27-inch, 4K OLED seatback screen, the largest among U.S. carriers. Every seat on this airplane has gotten an upgrade – from the new suites in United Polaris with sliding doors and a 19-inch, 4K OLED screen, to freshly designed seats in United Premium Plus and United Economy with 16-inch and 13-inch 4K OLED screens respectively.

The inaugural international flight for the 787-9 with the Elevated interior is set for April 22 from San Francisco to Singapore, and a few lucky customers might catch it on select domestic routes between San Francisco and Houston over the next few weeks while it prepares for international service. United plans to have 33 787-9 airplanes with the Elevated interior flying by 2028.

ROUTES - Korean Air brings Boeing 787-10 to Zurich route for 50th Anniversary

Korean Air will introduce its Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner on the Zurich–Seoul Incheon route beginning June 2, enhancing comfort and efficiency on one of its longest-serving European routes. The deployment marks the 50th anniversary of Korean Air’s Zurich service, its second-oldest gateway in Europe. In 2026, flights will operate three times weekly from March 31 through October 24.

Next-Generation Efficiency and Sustainability
The Boeing 787-10 is the largest variant of the Dreamliner family. Its fuselage spans 68.3 meters, making it approximately five meters longer than the 787-9, increasing passenger and cargo capacity by 15%. Constructed with advanced carbon composites, the aircraft reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions by over 20% compared to similar-sized aircraft. Additionally, specialized “chevron nozzles” on the engine nacelles significantly reduce noise for a quieter cabin experience.
Korean Air's 787-10 aircraft is configured with a total of 325 seats, including 36 Prestige Class seats and 289 economy class seats.

Elevated Cabin Experience
The Boeing 787-10 features the new “Prestige Suites 2.0,” designed with high partitions to ensure maximum passenger privacy. The cabin interior incorporates elegant patterns inspired by Jogakbo, traditional Korean patchwork, creating a sophisticated atmosphere. Each suite offers a 180-degree full-flat bed with a generous length of 78 inches (198 cm), a 46-inch (117 cm) pitch, and a 21-inch (53 cm) width. To provide a refined entertainment experience, the suites are equipped with 24-inch 4K monitors and seamless Bluetooth audio connectivity.

The “New Economy” class, configured in a 3-3-3 layout, has also been upgraded for enhanced comfort. It offers a 32-inch (81 cm) seat pitch, 17.2-inch (44 cm) width, and a 120-degree recline for optimal comfort. Every seat is equipped with a 13-inch (33cm) 4K monitor—two inches larger than those on previous models—and individual USB-C ports.
Additionally, in-flight Wi-Fi service is available, ensuring seamless connectivity throughout the journey.

50 Years of Excellence

ORDER - Delta Air Lines Orders up to 60 Boeing 787 Dreamliners to Grow, Modernize Widebody Fleet

  • Global carrier orders 787-10 airplanes for international expansion

  • Ultra-efficient, spacious widebody jets will also support fleet modernization

  • Latest purchase brings Delta's order book to 130 Boeing airplanes as it builds future fleet

SEATTLE, Jan. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire(opens in a new tab)/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Delta Air Lines today announced the U.S. carrier placed its first direct order for up to 60 787 Dreamliners to support long-haul international growth and renew the airline's widebody fleet. Delta's purchase of 30 787-10 jets – with opportunity for up to 30 more of the largest 787 variant – will enable the airline's expansion and modernization plans on high-demand transatlantic and South American routes.

"Delta is building the fleet for the future, enhancing the customer experience, driving operational improvements and providing steady replacements for less efficient, older aircraft in the decade to come," said Ed Bastian, Delta's chief executive officer. "Most importantly, these aircraft will be operated by the best aviation professionals in the industry, providing Delta's welcoming, elevated and caring service to travelers worldwide."

Delta Air Lines orders up to 60 Boeing 787 Dreamliners to grow and modernize widebody fleet.

With capacity for up to 336 passengers and 25% lower fuel use than the airplanes it replaces, the 787-10 offers the lowest operating cost per seat of any widebody airplane. Delivering superior comfort for passengers, the 787 Dreamliner features the largest windows of any widebody airplane flying today and air that is pressurized at a lower cabin altitude, which will help Delta's customers arrive at their destinations feeling more refreshed.

"We are excited that Delta Air Lines has selected the 787-10 to join its fleet of the future. The 787 Dreamliner's unmatched efficiency, range, and passenger comfort make it a perfect fit for Delta's international expansion and fleet modernization," said Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "Our team looks forward to delivering new Dreamliners to Delta and supporting their commitments to provide an exceptional passenger experience and advance sustainability in aviation."

With more than 460 Boeing airplanes currently in service, Delta has flown most Boeing single-aisle and widebody models across its domestic and international networks over the decades. This new widebody order further strengthens that partnership and supports U.S. aerospace manufacturing jobs across Boeing's production system and supply chain.

Today's purchase brings Delta's firm order book to 130 Boeing airplanes, including the airline's order for 100 737-10 jets(opens in a new tab). The efficiency and flexibility of the 787-10 and 737-10 will enable Delta to fly more passengers on more routes as the airline expands and diversifies its network.

ORDER - Turkish Airlines to Expand Its Fleet with Boeing Order

Flying to more countries than any other airline worldwide, Turkish Airlines is taking another significant step forward in line with its strategic growth plans.

The national flag carrier has reached an agreement with Boeing, and will add a total of 75 wide-body Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft to its fleet between 2029 and 2034, consisting of 50 firm and 25 option orders within this scope.

In terms of engine procurement, Turkish Airlines is continuing negotiations with manufacturers Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace. Within the scope of this strategic acquisition, negotiations between Turkish Airlines and Boeing regarding the purchase of a total of 150 aircraft, consisting of 100 firm and 50 option orders for the 737-8/10 MAX models have been completed. Subject to the successful conclusion of ongoing discussions with engine manufacturer CFM International, orders for the 737-8/10 MAX aircraft will be placed.

This agreement stands as a strong indicator of both the strategic partnership between Türkiye and the United States, as well as the long-standing cooperation between Turkish Airlines and Boeing. It also underscores the airline’s determination to maintain industry leadership and enhance operational efficiency.

As part of its “Vision 2033” which underscores airline’s 100th anniversary, Turkish Airlines aims to expand its fleet beyond 800 aircraft, while increasing the proportion of next-generation aircraft to 90% by 2033 and to 100% by 2035. This will further strengthen operational efficiency while sustaining an average annual growth rate of 6%.

On this new order, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Prof. Ahmet Bolat stated: “This landmark agreement represents much more than a fleet growth. It is a reflection of our leadership in the industry as well as our dedication to innovation and operational excellence. The addition of these advanced Boeing aircraft to our fleet will not only enhance our operational capabilities but also become a significant element supporting Turkish Airlines’ 2033 Vision of expanding our fleet to 800 aircraft.

With this agreement, while advancing our close collaboration with the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers, we will continue to support the development of Türkiye’s aviation ecosystem. Moreover, by offering greater connectivity and more long-haul destinations, these aircraft will help attract more visitors to discover our country’s unique cultural heritage and natural beauty, thereby further strengthening Türkiye’s tourism sector. Turkish Airlines, with its unparalleled service approach and unrivalled flight network, will also continue to set the global benchmark in both efficiency and environmental responsibility.”

Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope stated: “We are honored that Turkish Airlines has once again chosen the 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX to power its future growth. As a proud partner to Türkiye and the Turkish aviation industry for 80 years, we look forward to continuing our support of Turkish Airlines as they expand operations and deliver exceptional experiences to their passengers."

Turkish Airlines operates more than 200 Boeing aircraft, among them 787-9, 777, 737 MAX, Next-Generation 737 and 777 Freighters. With this agreement, the carrier will soon introduce the largest member of the 787 family, the 787-10. Addition of these new Dreamliners will reduce operating costs with their 25% fuel efficiency advantage while increasing both passenger and cargo capacity, thus supporting high-demand routes particularly across the United States, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

While the expansion of the 787 Dreamliner fleet will strengthen Turkish Airlines’ long-haul capabilities, the 737 MAX aircraft will enhance efficiency and flexibility on short- and medium-haul routes. At the same time, their advanced cargo capacity and operational versatility will further reinforce Istanbul’s role as a strategic hub for both passenger and cargo transport.

Turkish Airlines continues to lead the way in the aviation industry, consistently delivering unparalleled service and unforgettable experiences above the clouds to its guests. This acquisition reinforces the airline’s commitment to offering travellers the most comfortable travel options available.
