DUBAI, UAE, Nov. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire / - Boeing [NYSE: BA] and flydubai announced today the airline has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for its fourth 737 MAX purchase. The agreement for 75 orders and 75 options will enable flydubai to modernize its fleet and further expand its growing network.




The Dubai-based carrier said the 737 MAX's fuel efficiency, range and reliability has enabled its network expansion, which now spans over 135 destinations, including new routes Lasi, Nairobi, Riga, Latvia, among other cities.

The new deal allows flydubai to take advantage of the 737 MAX family's flexibility and commonality, while leveraging the unique size and range of the 737-8, 737-9, and 737-10 models to suit its growing business.

flydubai currently operates 96 Boeing 737 airplanes. The new agreement, when finalized, would add to outstanding 737 MAX orders from prior purchases.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 18 November 2025 – flydubai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for 150 A321neo aircraft making the airline a new Airbus customer. The agreement underscores the carrier’s confidence in Dubai’s growth plans.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, signed the MoU agreement with Christian Scherer, CEO Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, at the signing ceremony which was attended by Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, on the second day of the Dubai Airshow 2025.

The addition of the latest generation A321neo will support flydubai’s strategy to expand its network, offering customers access to new destinations with greater efficiency and comfort.

At the end of October 2025, more than 7,200 A321neo aircraft have been ordered by nearly 100 customers across the globe.

ROUTES - flydubai is considering the B787 for routes to London, Bangkok and Australia

Flydubai, the sister airline of mega carrier Emirates, is considering serving an as yet undisclosed number of Australian cities when it begins taking delivery of its new fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners it currently has on order. The company has ordered 30 787-9 Dreamliners, with deliveries expected to begin in 2026.

In a signing ceremony at the Dubai Airshow, the Dubai-based carrier said it plans to use the efficient 787 to open new routes and grow capacity on existing routes.

The 787-9 can fly 296 passengers 14,010 km (7,565 nautical miles) in addition to more cargo. Half of all 787 Dreamliner flights are operated in short- and medium-haul markets below 5,000 km (2,700 nautical miles), demonstrating its versatility and efficiency across all network segments.

Flydubai expands European network

The capitals of Hungary and Slovenia are joining the LCC’s route map.

Flydubai is launching flights to Budapest in Hungary and Ljubljana in Slovenia later this summer as the carrier continues to grow its European network. 

The airline will connect Dubai International (DXB) with Ljubljana (LJU) from Sept. 24 and Budapest (BUD) from Sept. 30. Service will be 3X-weekly and 4X-weekly respectively and Emirates will codeshare on both routes.

“With more countries lifting restrictions on international travel, we look forward to providing passengers with more options for travel this year following the launch of our wide range of summer destinations,” flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said.

Flydubai SVP of commercial operations and e-commerce Jeyhun Efendi added: “These destinations have much to offer and give travellers the chance to explore new places that will help stimulate flows of travel and tourism, particularly after a time when our customers haven’t been able to travel as much as they would have liked.”

Data provided by OAG Schedules Analyser shows that Ljubljana is unserved nonstop from the United Arab Emirates, but Emirates and Wizz Air each serve Budapest. Emirates flies DXB-BUD 3X-weekly using 777-200LR/300ER aircraft, while Wizz offers a 1X-weekly Airbus A321neo flight.

In addition, OAG schedules show that Wizz intends to launch a route between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and BUD from Sept. 16, operating twice a week on board A321neos.

Flydubai is this month serving 29 points in Europe, with service to the Greek islands of Mykonos (JMK) and Santorini (JTR) beginning on June 18. Other new destinations include Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) and Trabzon Airport (TZX) in Turkey, while flights to Naples (NAP) in Italy and Salzburg (SZG) resume in July.

The airline’s DXB-LJU route will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while DXB-BUD will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

flydubai’s inaugural flight to Kilimanjaro (JRO) on 15 December has increased the LCC’s capacity to Tanzania and further expanded its network in Africa to 12 destinations

The carrier will offer six flights a week to Kilimanjaro, three of which stop in the capital, Dar es Salaam and will increase the total number of flights to Tanzania to 14 flights a week. The service to Kilimanjaro from its Dubai (DXB) base sees the total number of flydubai destinations in Tanzania increase to three, along with Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar. The carrier began operations to Tanzania in 2014. Sudhir Sreedharan, SVP Commercial Operations (GCC, Subcontinent and Africa) at flydubai, who led the carrier’s inaugural delegation, said: “Our service to Kilimanjaro follows an increase in passenger demand and reflects flydubai’s commitment to open up underserved markets. Boeing, flydubai Sign Agreement for Mobile Maintenance Solutions

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Feb. 4, 2014 – Boeing [NYSE:BA] today announced at the MRO Middle East conference that flydubai has signed an agreement to implement Boeing’s suite of mobile maintenance applications. The airline will deploy Maintenance Turn Time, Toolbox Mobile Library and Toolbox Mobile Parts – solutions that provide real-time access to the information technicians need to quickly resolve maintenance issues.

As a cooperative partner, flydubai worked closely with Boeing to finalize the functionality and operability of the mobile maintenance products, which will be integrated with the airline’s maintenance planning systems.

“Coordinating maintenance information across the airline is essential for our current and future operations as we continue to expand our 737 fleet,” said Dave Lewis, flydubai head of engineering. “To do this effectively, our engineers require instant access to information to support faster aircraft maintenance turn times, providing a greater level of confidence that we will continue to meet our quick-turn schedules.”

flydubai is positioning itself for significant fleet growth. In January, Boeing and flydubai finalized an order first announced at the Dubai Airshow for 75 737 MAX 8s, 11 additional Next-Generation 737-800s and purchase rights for 25 more MAXs, representing the largest single-aisle airplane order in the Middle East for Boeing.

Two-way collaboration capabilities enable technicians to rapidly share documents, photos and other information needed to troubleshoot issues, support operations decisions and improve maintenance turn times.

Boeing Delivers the 7,000th 737

Today Boeing [NYSE: BA] delivered the 7,000th 737 to come off the production line to Dubai-based flydubai. The airplane is flydubai’s 14th Next-Generation 737-800 with the Boeing Sky Interior and features a logo near the nose of the airplane commemorating the 7,000th 737 milestone.
