Fly Baghdad to launch services from Baghdad to Berlin and Dusseldorf, as well as from Erbil to Berlin, Copenhagen and Dusseldorf — all beginning by the end of December 2023 with A320 operated by Dan Air.

Fly Baghdad retires only regional jet

Fly Baghdad (IF, Baghdad) has mandated Airstream International Group to sell or finance lease CRJ200 YI-BAH (msn 7984), the carrier's only regional jet which was retired from revenue service in June 2022.

The 18.2-year-old aircraft, originally delivered to Air Nostrum (YW, Valencia Manises), was ferried from Baghdad via Istanbul New to Riga over the course of June 24-28, 2022, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows, where it remains in maintenance. It is available immediately.

The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows the regional jet has accumulated 24,591 flight hours and 23,000 flight cycles over its service life. Fly Baghdad inducted the jet in time for its launch in 2015 as one of just two aircraft in its fleet at that time (alongside a B737-400).

The Iraqi carrier continues to operate an all-B737 fleet comprising one B737-700, five B737-800s, and one B737-900(ER). The carrier told ch-aviation last year that it planned to continue growing with more B737NGs due to be added in the coming years

FlyBaghdad to lease a South African A320

Fly Baghdad (IF, Baghdad) is set to add to its growing fleet of leased aircraft with the imminent arrival of its second A320-200 - ZS-GAS (cn 76) sourced from South Africa's Global Aviation Operations (QG, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo). Skyliner Aviation reports the aircraft was recently seen at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo in the Iraqi LCC's livery ahead of delivery to Baghdad.

The carrier also leases another A320-200 from Royal Falcon (RL, Amman Queen Alia), three CRJ-200ERs (two of which sourced from Iraq Gate (Baghdad), and a B737-400.

Currently, it offers scheduled passenger flights to Erbil and Sulaymaniyah locally as well as Istanbul Atatürk and Tbilisi regionally. Upcoming destinations include Najaf, Basrah, Muscat, Kuwait, Tehran Mehrabad, and Mashad.

FlyBaghdad adds maiden B737

Fly Baghdad (Baghdad) has taken delivery of its maiden aircraft, an ex-Vision Airlines (USA) (V2, Las Vegas McCarran) B737-400 now registered as YI-BAJ (msn 24271) in Iraq. According to Skyliner Aviation, the twinjet was ferried from Bucharest Baneasa to Erbil on August 5. CRJ-200 YI-BAH (cn 7984) is expected to be delivered as well at some point in the coming weeks.

 The privately-owned carrier has outlined plans to serve Basrah, Najaf, Erbil, and Sulaymaniyah from its Baghdad hub in its initial phase with regional services to roll out thereafter.
