FLEET / ROUTES - FASTJET ZIMBABWE Signs Short-Term Lease Agreement For An Airbus A320-200

HARARE, ZIMBABWE | Fastjet Zimbabwe, has announced the introduction of an Airbus A320-200 on a short-term lease agreement to support increased passenger demand during the peak travel period of August and September 2026.

The aircraft is expected to enter service on 1 August 2026 and will operate primarily on the high-demand Harare–Johannesburg and Victoria Falls–Johannesburg routes.

The temporary operation of the Airbus A320 forms part of fastjet Zimbabwe’s strategy to increase capacity during the peak season while evaluating the aircraft type as a potential permanent addition to its fleet from 2027.

fastjet to start Mozambican operations in mid-4Q17

fastjet has announced its entry into the Mozambican market will take place on Friday, November 3. Solenta Aviation (SET, Lanseria) was one of seven carriers awarded domestic Mozambican route authorities last month, the others being CFM - Transportes e Trabalhos Aéreos, TTA - Sociedade de Transporte e Trabalho Aéreo, Ethiopian Airlines, Malawian Airlines, and incumbents LAM - Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique and MEX - Mocambique Expresso.

In a statement, the African low-fare carrier said its virtual Fastjet Mozambique (Maputo) unit would connect Maputo with each of Beira (9x weekly), Tete (4x weekly), and Nampula (7x weekly) using ERJ-145 equipment operated by technical partner Solenta Aviation Mozambique.

With the launch of Mozambican services, fastjet will have a direct operational presence in three African countries alongside Fastjet in Tanzania and Fastjet Zimbabwe. Entry into the South African market using the Fastjet South Africa vehicle will be undertaken by Federal Air.

Prior to the delivery of its first two EMB-190s to Fastjet for its Tanzanian operations, it has temporarily wet-leased a B737-300 from Star Air (South Africa) (BRH, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) until the end of this month, the latter's chief executive Peter Annear has confirmed to ch-aviation.

FASTJET - A319-100 - 5H-FJA - the Tanzanian low-cost carrier, commenced its second international route to Lusaka

fastjet, the Tanzanian low-cost carrier, commenced its second international route to Lusaka (LUN) in Zambia on 1 February, joining its existing services to Johannesburg. The 1,500-kilometre sector from Dar es Salaam (DAR) will be served twice-weekly (Thursdays and Saturdays), utilising the airline’s 125-seat A319s.

Fastjet moves on Zambia venture

Pan-African low-cost carrier Fastjet is in discussions with the Zambian government about establishing an operation in Lusaka.

The airline said in a statement that it was in active discussions with the government of the Southern African state, as well as tourism organisations, about a Lusaka base.

It said it would progress with its application for an Air Services Licence and Air Operator Certificate, which is likely to take at least six months.

The operation would be a Zambian registered company, in which FastJet PLC would have a “substantial stake”. Distribution and marketing would be handled as a pan-African operation.

In the statement the airline added it sees the “business and political environment in Zambia as very progressive” and that opening a new base would open up more trade and tourism opportunities.

fastjet unveils new brand & livery; to start ticket sales next week.

fastjet, the continent's first pan-African low cost carrier set to launch later this month, today unveiled its new brand image and aircraft livery as the carrier readies itself for ops. It also announced it will begin selling tickets next week ahead of the airline's first flight this month.

Fastjet A plans to lease up to 15 aircraft for its new low-cost carrier operation based at Accra Kotoka . The new carrier is backed by Rubicon Diversified Investments and EasyGroup owned by easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou.
