Turpial Airlines secures its AOC, launches

Turpial Airlines (VTU, Valencia Arturo Michelena Int'l) has commenced scheduled passenger flights after securing its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Venezuelan civil aviation authority (Instituto Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil - INAC) late last month.

The start-up's inaugural return service - a 4x weekly Valencia Arturo Michelena Int'l-Panamá City Tocumen Int'l flight - took place on Friday, April 7, and was operated by one of its three B737-400s, YV613T (msn 24795).

Turpial Airlines also plans to serve Maracaibo and Porlamar domestically.
