ANA Celebrates the 40th Anniversary of International Scheduled Flights

  • ・ANA celebrated the 40th anniversary of its international scheduled flights on March 3, 2026. The airline's international network has grown to 55 routes serving 40 cities worldwide, including recent additions such as Milan, Stockholm and Istanbul.
  • ・The ANA Group aims to expand its international passenger and cargo business by 1.3 times by fiscal 2030, continuing to drive international operations as a primary growth driver.
  • ・On March 3, the anniversary of its inaugural scheduled flight (the Narita-Guam route), ANA held a commemorative event at Narita Airport. Activities included a talk session with long-serving employees and a banner send-off for the day's departing flight (Flight NH881). Also, ANA is launching various anniversary initiatives, including the sale of commemorative merchandise, special feature articles in its inflight magazine, TSUBASA GLOBAL WINGS, and a dedicated website

ANA celebrated the 40th anniversary of its international scheduled flights on March 3. Since the inauguration of the Narita-Guam route on March 3, 1986, utilizing a Lockheed L-1011 TriStar aircraft, ANA has continued to expand its global footprint with the steadfast support of its customers. As of March 2026, the airline has added three new routes to Milan, Stockholm and Istanbul, growing its network to 55 routes serving 40 cities. As of December 2025, the cumulative number of passengers on international flights has reached approximately 170 million.
To capture global demand through a robust network, ANA aims to expand the scale of its international passenger and cargo business by 1.3 times compared to fiscal 2025 by fiscal 2030. From fiscal 2026 onwards, the airline will sequentially take delivery of Boeing 787-9 aircraft equipped with the latest seats across all classes to further elevate service quality.

Throughout its 40-year history of international operations, ANA has been recognized by third-party organizations for achieving the world's highest standards, including the prestigious 5-Star rating from UK-based SKYTRAX for 13 consecutive years and the WORLD CLASS award from North America's APEX for two consecutive years.
On March 3, 2026, a commemorative ceremony was held at Narita Airport Terminal 1. Preceding the ceremony, a talk session featuring employees who remember the airline's early days reflected on the passion of the frontline staff who have supported ANA's 40-year history. The ceremony was vibrantly accented by a traditional "Choshi Hane-Daiko" drum performance from Narita. Representing the host, Shinichi Inoue, President and CEO of ANA, expressed his deep gratitude for the journey thus far.
"Forty years ago, ANA's inaugural international flight from Narita to Guam was a bold step into the unknown for a carrier then largely unrecognized outside Japan," said Shinichi Inoue, President and CEO of ANA.
"Today, that single route has blossomed into a global network of 55 routes serving 40 cities, built on the dedication of our team and the unwavering support of our customers. Our mission to connect people and cultures has never been more vital. As we look toward the expansion of Narita Airport in 2029, this anniversary is a springboard to our next chapter. By fiscal 2030, we aim to expand our International passenger and cargo business by 1.3 times, evolving as a premier 'combination carrier' to deliver world-class service for the next 40 years and beyond."
Upon the departure of Flight NH881 (Narita-Perth), employees held a banner on the ramp area to send the flight off. All passengers flying that day received a commemorative sticker, while passengers on the Perth flight were gifted a boarding certificate and an original luggage tag.

In addition to offering limited-edition products to commemorate the milestone, ANA published a special March edition of its in-flight magazine, TSUBASA GLOBAL WINGS, chronicling the airline's 40-year journey. A dedicated website featuring archival photos and employee interviews is also now live.
The ANA Group will continue to leverage its international business as a core engine for further growth, striving to deliver exciting air travel to customers worldwide.

SPECIAL COLOURS - ANA to Launch Three New Liveries for Pokémon 30th Anniversary

In celebration of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, ANA will introduce three new Pokémon Jet liveries, scheduled to enter service in 2026.

・The aircraft designs are inspired by the classic Pokémon Red, Green and Blue games.

・ANA will operate the new 'Pokémon Jet' on both domestic and international routes for the first time in about 10 years, connecting the world's skies.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) and The Pokémon Company will launch three new Pokémon Jets with special liveries in 2026 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon brand.
The collaboration builds on a partnership that began in 1998 with the world’s first Pokémon Jet. ANA currently operates the “Pikachu Jet NH” and “Eevee Jet NH” as part of the Pokémon Air Adventures project, an initiative dedicated to connecting people and communities worldwide. To date, a total of eight aircraft has featured special Pokémon liveries.
The three new aircrafts will be introduced sequentially throughout 2026.
“This project goes beyond just a livery; it’s about creating an immersive world that sparks imagination, inspires curiosity and brings the joy of discovery to our passengers throughout their journey,” said Keiji Omae, Executive Vice President of Customer Experience at ANA. “Whether you first began your journey on a Game Boy screen decades ago, or are currently exploring new regions through your mobile apps, we invite you to take your next 'adventure' into the real world with ANA. Many of our passengers flying with us today were the kids who marveled at our first Pokémon Jet in 1998. We are honored to be the wings that carry not just passengers, but also their cherished memories and future adventures.”

A Dual Celebration: Pokémon’s 30th and ANA’s 40th International Anniversary
The year 2026 marks a milestone for both companies. It is the 30th anniversary of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, released on Feb. 27, 1996, and the 40th anniversary of ANA’s first international flight.
ANA views this historic convergence as an opportunity to express gratitude to fans worldwide and create new experiences for the next generation of travelers, centered around the key concept: "Experience the Excitement and Fun of the Journey with Pokémon."
■ Aircraft Overview and Design

ANA receives Boeing’s 100th 787 Landing Gear Exchange Delivery

Boeing’s Landing Gear Exchange program offers airlines a cost-effective, efficient solution for maintaining their fleets.

SINGAPORE, Feb. 4, 2026 — Boeing [NYSE: BA] successfully completed its 100th 787 Landing Gear Exchange (LGE) delivery, highlighting its commitment to innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and safety for its customers. The milestone delivery was received by ANA.

“The Landing Gear Exchange program has been instrumental in optimizing our maintenance operations and ensuring the highest levels of safety during our passengers’ journeys with us,” said Yukifumi Ueda, vice president and general manager, Engine, Component & Supply Chain, ANA. “This latest delivery demonstrates our strong partnership with Boeing and our commitment to providing exceptional, seamless service to our customers.”

Boeing delivered its 100th 787 Landing Gear Exchange to ANA, underscoring its commitment to innovative solutions that improve customer safety and operational efficiency.

ANA has received and installed landing gear assemblies through the exchange program on 30 of its 787s.

“This milestone reinforces our dedication to providing airlines with critical parts when and where needed to maximize fleet availability and strengthen operational resilience. By ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain, we continue to drive measurable value for airline operations worldwide,” said William Ampofo, senior vice president, Parts & Distribution and Supply Chain, Boeing Global Services. “We are also investing in and expanding our exchange pool capacity to meet the growing needs of our customers as they begin their 787-9 overhaul cycle.”

Over the past 20 years, the LGE program has become the preferred choice for operators around the globe. Boeing has successfully contracted exchanges for more than 480 787 tails from 34 airlines into the landing gear exchange skyline – with many customers extending services or adding tails to the exchange. ANA has LGE contracts to support its 787-8 and 787-9 fleet. Other recent contracts include unnamed customers signing up for a total of 65 exchanges for their 787-8 and 787-9 fleets.

Boeing’s LGE program also offers a capital-efficient model eliminating the need for airlines to purchase and manage landing gear assets or oversee complex overhaul processes. By delivering forward exchange of certified, overhauled landing gear, the program reduces green time loss and aircraft downtime, enabling airlines to preserve liquidity, streamline maintenance, and focus on delivering seamless, reliable service to their customers.

ANA Group Announces Restructuring of its Multi-Brand Strategy

Leveraging AirJapan's Expertise and Resources to Expand the ANA Brand

TOKYO, Oct. 30, 2025 - While planning its next medium-term strategy, ANA Group has decided to restructure its brand strategy. This decision is aimed at maximizing the entire Group's profitability and competitiveness while flexibly responding to recent changes in the business environment.

Since 2024, ANA Group has been working to capture global passenger demand through a multi-brand strategy using three brands.

・The ANA brand has focused on expanding its profitability by capturing robust international demand, launching routes such as Haneda-Stockholm, Milan, and Istanbul from the end of 2024.

・The Peach brand has expanded its network, primarily on Kansai-Asia routes, driven by strong leisure and inbound demand.

・The AirJapan brand has steadily captured inbound demand and other opportunities by launching routes such as Narita-Bangkok, Narita-Seoul, and Narita-Singapore since 2024.

Meanwhile, the global environment has seen changes such as the prolonged war in Ukraine and aircraft delivery delays, with concerns that these issues will continue.

In addition, ANA Group is managing the AOG (※1) situation regarding its Boeing 787 aircraft. To optimize the allocation of the Group's resources, ANA Group decided to suspend the AirJapan brand. Its aircraft and human resources will be consolidated into the ANA brand's operations to expand its international business.

Furthermore, AirJapan, the operating company that has managed flights for both the ANA and AirJapan brands, will continue to contribute to ANA Group's international business by operating ANA brand international flights, leveraging its high standard of operational quality.

With this change, ANA Group will transition to a dual-brand strategy composed of the ANA and Peach brands starting in fiscal year 2026, strengthening the overall Group's profitability and competitiveness.

Future operations under the AirJapan brand will be as follows.

Final Operation Date

※1 AOG=Aircraft On the Ground

※2 Subject to relevant regulatory/government approvals.

ANA Group will continue to work together as one to provide our customers with a safe, secure, and comfortable air travel experience.

ORDER - ANA Holdings finalises order for 27 A321neo and A321XLR aircraft

Paris, France, 16 June 2025 – ANA Holdings (ANAHD) has finalised an agreement by signing a firm order with Airbus for 24 single-aisle A321neo and three A321XLR.

The order was announced at the Paris Air Show 2025 during a signing ceremony with Koji Shibata, Representative Director, President and CEO of ANAHD, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business.

The order covers 14 additional A321neo for All Nippon Airways (ANA) as well as 10 A321neo and three A321XLR for its group airline Peach Aviation, to upgrade the group’s current fleet.

Peach Aviation will become the first Japanese airline to operate the A321XLR, which has the longest range of any single aisle aircraft, flying up to 4,700nm / 8,700 km non-stop.

“We are delighted to have signed the firm order for the introduction of additional A321neo and first A321XLR into our group airlines. We believe that this additional introduction of Airbus aircraft will further deepen our relationship,” said Koji Shibata. “We will accelerate the introduction of state-of-the-art and fuel-efficient aircraft to provide our passengers with excellent service and to reduce CO₂ emissions.”

“From its first order in 1987 to an order book now approaching 100 aircraft, ANA has been a long-standing customer for the A320 Family. The exciting addition of the A321XLR for Peach Aviation further underscores ANA's innovative spirit and trust in the A320 Family's unrivaled capabilities," said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry. “We are committed to providing our full support to ANA and Peach Aviation as their growing fleet is deployed on more routes across their networks.”

ANA operates 33 A320 Family while Peach Aviation operates 36 A320 Family.

The A321neo is part of the A320neo Family, incorporating the latest technologies including new generation engines, Sharklets and cabin efficiency enablers, which together deliver more than 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft.

The A321XLR sits side by side with widebodies in an airline’s fleet. It introduces the flexibility to add capacity, to open new routes, or even to continue operating existing ones when demand is variable. This is all while burning 30% less fuel per seat than previous generation competitor aircraft. The A321XLR’s new Airspace cabin will provide passengers long haul comfort in all classes.

To date more than 7,000 A321neo aircraft have been ordered by more than 90 customers across the globe.
