Myanmar National Airlines Adds Bangkok Service from late-Jan 2016

Myanmar National Airlines in late-January 2016 plans to introduce its 2nd route to Thailand, which sees the airline operating Yangon – Bangkok route. From 28JAN16, Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be operating this route on daily basis.

The 1,930-kilometre route will be operated six times weekly by the carrier’s recently acquired, factory-fresh 737-800. Competition is pretty intense as the route is already flown by Jetstar Asia (10 times weekly), Myanmar Airways International (daily), SilkAir (daily), Singapore Airlines (daily) and Tigerair Singapore (daily).

Myanmar National Airlines accepts first ATR72-600


Myanmar National Airlines (UB, Yangon) took delivery of its maiden ATR72-600 - XY-AJY (cn 1267) - on Monday, August 3. The turboprop is the first of an order for six placed with Avions de Transport Régional (Toulouse Blagnac) in 2014 which also includes six options.

Myanmar National Flag Carrier to Ply Singapore Next Month

Myanmar National Airlines (MNA), the country's national flag carrier, is set to launch Yangon- Singapore route in July with a newly-leased Boeing 737-800 NGs out of six which the airlines has taken the delivery, sources with the airline said Saturday.

The MNA will add its flights to China's Hong Kong and Taipei by the end of August.

MNA will fly to four more destinations in the Asia-Pacific region with new airbuses beginning 2016.

Five other Boeing aircrafts of the same model each having 164 seats and worth 51 million U.S. dollars as well as four 737-Max 8 Next Generation aircrafts are to be received by 2018, according to earlier report .

The MNA has also ordered six ATRs to boost its domestic fleet which flies to 26 destinations.

As disclosed by MNA, it received more than 500,000 passengers in 2014, a 26 percent increase over the previous year.

MNA, renamed from state-run Myanmar Airways (MA) in December last year after corporatization has planned to lease these new model aircrafts from U.S.-based GE Capital Aviation Services.

MNA has planned to fly new destinations with new Boeing airplanes and also planned to give new services because of increased competition among airlines.

Boeing, Myanmar National Airlines Celebrate First Next-Generation 737-800 Delivery

New 737-800 leased from GECAS to expand national carrier's network, features new livery

SEATTLE, June 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Myanmar National Airlines celebrated the delivery of the airline's first Next-Generation 737-800 leased from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aircraft leasing arm of GE. The celebration also marked the first all-new Boeing airplane to be delivered to any Myanmar-based airline.

The airplane is the first to feature Myanmar National Airlines' new livery and interior, and the airline plans to expand its network outside Myanmar with the introduction of its 737.
