SKOL AIRLINE, LLC HAS BECOME THE FOURTH OPERATOR OF TURBOPROP AIRPLANES DHC-6 TWIN OTTER SERIES 400

By the end of the year SKOL Airline has expanded its fleet with five new turboprop aircraft DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 400 produced by Canadian company Viking Air. These airplanes possessed by Rosneft Corporate air operator – RN-Aircraft, LLC were handed over for SKOL Airline operations.

Airplanes DHS-6 will be based in Cheremshanka airport (Krasnoyarsk) and at the helipad Polygon SKOL (Surgut). They’ll be involved in the carriage of shift workers teams of Rosneft subsidiary companies and for the passanger carriage to the oil-gas fields.

Rosneft to split Twin Otter placement between Skol, AeroGeo

Russian state-owned oil giant Rosneft has decided to split between AeroGeo (Krasnoyarsk) and Skol Aviakompania (CDV, Surgut) the placements of ten DHC-6-400s that it has on order from Viking Air (VKN, Victoria Int'l).

According to Russia's ATO news, Rosneft's aircraft procurement arm, RN-Aircraft, will place five of the turboprops with AeroGeo and five with Skol. Thus far, eight Twin Otters have already been delivered to AeroGeo although two are in the process of being transferred to Skol. They, along with the outstanding two aircraft, will be deployed into service from their Krasnoyarsk Cheremshanka base once Skol secures Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) approval to add the type to its AOC.

The turboprops will be used to ferry goods, equipment, and personnel to Rosneft facilities in remote areas of Russia.

Skydive Dubai adds maiden Twin Otter-400

Skydive Dubai has taken delivery of its maiden DHC-6-400 following a ferry flight from McMinnville to the Gulf last week. The twinprop - N903VK (cn 920) - will play a key role in the World Air Games being hosted by Skydive Dubai and which begin this weekend.

Skydive Dubai also operates legacy Twin Otter-300s, Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan 208Bs and a PC-6.

First Flying bids farewell to Islander, welcomes Twin Otter

First Flying introduced the 19-seat Viking Air DHC-6-400 Twin Otter on the Okinawa/Naha – Aguni route. The newly-delivered aircraft replaced the nine-seat Pilatus Britten-Norman BN-2B-20 Islander, which operated its last revenue flight on July 31st, on their three-times-daily 25-minute hop connecting Naha and the remote island. This leaves Kagoshima [KOJ/RJFK]-based New Japan Aviation  as the last remaining airline flying the Islander in Japan.
