Flyafrica 2.0 to lease South African metal

Zimbabwe flyafrica (Z7, Harare Int'l) will rebrand as flyafricazim (Z7, Harare Int'l) ahead of plans to now resume flights this month the chairman of Nu-Aero Pvt Ltd, Cassidy Mugwagwa, has said.
Having bought out former 49% shareholder, the Mauritius-based FlyAfrica Ltd, the LCC will replace FlyAfrica's two previous B737-500s with B737-300 equipment leased from Star Air (South Africa) (BRH, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo), he said.

As previously reported, the carrier is also considering smaller 40-50 seater aircraft for domestic Zimbabwean flights.

Namibia flyafrica prepares to launch

Namibia flyafrica (Windhoek Int'l) last week secured its Foreign Air Operator Permit (FAOP) from the Namibian Directorate of Civil Aviation paving the way for it to launch operations later this month the Windhoek Observer newspaper has reported.

The start-up had planned to commence commercial operations in March only to defer the date indefinitely as it had yet to secure all requisite documentation.

According to Clifford Strydom, the CEO of Namibia Flyafrica's local parent Bay Air Aviation (Windhoek Eros), the LCC will resume advertising for its flights later this week. The carrier had planned to offer return Windhoek Int'l-Johannesburg O.R. Tambo flights as well as 7th Freedom Johannesburg O.R. Tambo-Lusaka flights using Namibian-registered B737-500s.

flyafrica, officially launches operations

flyafrica.com officially launched scheduled operations on Friday, August 1, following a week-long delay effected by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ). On the eve of its launch on July 23, the CAAZ revoked the airline’s South African pilots’ flight validations resulting in the week-long delay.

flyafrica.com has announced it will launch its first operations on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. The Zimbabwean LCC's initial services will cover Johannesburg O.R. Tambo to the resort town of Victoria Falls with flights to operate 3x weekly.

Having acquired five B737-500s formerly with CSA Czech Airlines, the carrier says it will announce additional bases, likely in Central and West Africa, in due course.

flyafrica.com is set to take delivery of its first of five ex-CSA Czech Airlines B737-500s Skyliner Aviation has reported. The Zimbabwean start-up's first twinjet, T7-FAA (msn 26539), was recently spotted in an all-white livery prior to its handing over to flyafrica.
