TUI Selects Embraer E195-E2
TUI Group has selected Embraer’s E195-E2, the quietest and most efficient aircraft under 150 seats, to join the TUI fly Belgium fleet. TUI, one of the world's leading tourism groups, will take delivery of three E195-E2 from AerCap on long-term lease. The aircraft, from AerCap’s existing fleet and powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, will be delivered in a comfortable 136 seat, single class configuration, in the first half of 2023.
“We are thrilled to add the E195-E2 to our Belgium fleet. Operating on short and medium haul routes, the new airplane is the most efficient aircraft in the market. It uses less fuel, has a longer range, while at the same time is 50% quieter and emits up to a third less carbon dioxide. The airplanes will operate mostly out of Antwerp, from where they will fly to more distant airports, which will allow us to expand into new holiday destinations from Northern Belgium”, said Marco Ciomperlik, Chief Airline Officer, TUI Group.
“The selection of the E195-E2 is an important milestone to make TUI’s fleet even more efficient in support of our sustainability goals. Working together with AerCap, Embraer and Pratt & Whitney, we have agreed on an attractive package that enables TUI to provide travellers from regional airports in Belgium an even better start to their holidays,” added Tom Chandler, Managing Director Fleet and Asset Management, TUI Group
“We are very pleased to announce the lease placement of three E195-E2s with TUI. AerCap has a long history of working with TUI and we are excited to be a part of their fleet renewal plan,” said Peter Anderson, Chief Commercial Officer of AerCap. “The E195-E2s are the perfect aircraft to support TUI’s operations with greater versatility and improved efficiencies, enabling them to meet their sustainability commitments. We wish TUI every success with the E2-Jets, and we look forward to working with them as these aircraft deliver.”
Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer, Embraer Commercial Aviation, added, “We welcome TUI, already operators of the first generation E190, to the E2 family of operators. The economics of the E195-E2 combined with its comfort, is a win win for TUI – allowing the operator to increase capacity and delight their guests, while still reducing fuel costs and lowering emissions. We’re pleased to continue our long relationship with TUI and thank AerCap for their partnership.”

TUI fly (Belgium) resumes B737 MAX flights
TUI fly (Belgium) (TB, Brussels National) became the first airline east of the Atlantic to resume scheduled B737-8 operations on February 17, 2021.
OO-MAX (msn 44588), one of four B737 MAX 8s operated by TUI Group's Belgian unit, was reactivated for a test flight around Brussels National on February 15 ahead of its first revenue service to Malaga and Alicante on February 17, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows.
Since March 15, 2019, the aircraft had been inactive with its last flight before grounding from Alicante to Brussels.
The carrier's three other B737 MAX 8s remain grounded, alongside the six that TUI Airways operates, TUI fly (Netherlands)'s trio, and TUI fly Nordic's pair.
Although the European Union Aviation Safety Administration (EASA) consented to return the B737 MAX to service in late January, albeit under strict conditions, the only other operator besides TUI fly to announce MAX resumption plans has been Smartwings (Czechia) (QS, Prague Václav Havel) which plans to resume commercial B737 MAX 8 flights by the end of this month. Only airlines in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil have resumed commercial B737 MAX operations.

Jetairfly rebrands as TUIfly Belgium
Jetairfly (TB, Brussels National) has rebranded itself as TUIfly (Belgium) (TB, Brussels National) with effect from Wednesday, October 19. The move is part of parent firm TUI AG's decision to create a singular brand name across four of its carriers.
The first stage of the project saw Arke Fly (OR, Amsterdam) rebranded as TUIfly (Netherlands) (OR, Amsterdam) followed by Jetairfly's transformation into TUIfly (Belgium). The second stage will see TUIfly Nordic (6B, Stockholm Arlanda) and Thomson Airways (BY, London Luton) being rebranded. Corsair International (SS, Paris Orly) has been excluded from the exercise.
Despite the change in name, all five airlines in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK will continue to operate under their own AOCs, however a unified brand name and image will allow for improved fleet interoperability, especially during the busy summer season.
“A strong one-brand policy will make it considerably easier to use the aircraft of the European fleet and the crews across the individual countries, as demand requires it. The resulting increase in the effectiveness of TUI airlines is to enable TUI to deliver operational efficiency improvements worth EUR50 million per annum by 2018,” TUI AG said.
For its part, TUIfly Belgium operates five B737-700s, fourteen B737-800s, one B767-300(ER), one B787-8, and three EMB-190s.
