InterCaribbean Airways (Turks & Caicos) has purchased another ATR42-500, from Gladiator Leasing (Malta) in deal brokered by Airstream International (UK).

This aircraft and a ATR72-500 are preparing to ferry to the island. The carrier is actively looking at additional airframes.

Winair from Sint Maarten has been wet-leasing a single ATR42

 

Since a few years, Winair from Sint Maarten has been wet-leasing a single ATR42 from Air Antilles and the success of these operations has prompted the airline to now take the step and acquire two ATR42-500s. The first ATR is expected to be delivered in March 2023, the second a month later.

The aircraft will join a fleet which today consists of three DHC-6-300s. Winair, founded in 1961, will use the ATRs from Sint Maarten to Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, Dominica, Port au Prince, St. Lucia, and Tortola.

interCaribbean is pleased to officially welcome the arrival of a new type of aircraft to our fleet, the first ATR 42-500, baptized Capt Hugo M in honor of one of our first pilots who has remained with the company for more than 20 years, currently as a Member of the Aeronautical Safety and Training Team for new crews. The new ATR aircraft, with a capacity for 48 passengers, proudly displays the logo of the

Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) on its fuselage, being the first airline to display this logo representing the Caribbean region. interCaribbean continues to build for the future by expanding its fleet to offer more connectivity throughout the Caribbean. 

The aircraft will begin flying on completing the formal certification process.

AirSWIFT, a new ‘boutique’ airline operating in the Philippines, on 26 November began daily flights between Cebu and El Nido.

The 501-kilometre route will be served by the airline’s 44-seat ATR 42-500s (of which it has two) and faces no competition. In fact, the only services at El Nido Airport, which serves the ‘vacation paradise’ of El Nido on the island of Palawan, appear to be those offered by AirSWIFT to Manila and Cebu. Although the AirSWIFT name is new, the carrier can trace its roots back to 2002 when it began operations as Island Transvoyager, Inc (ITI Air).

ATR
