FLEET - National Airlines Selects Four Boeing 777 Freighters to Expand Global Fleet

- World's most capable twin-engine freighter provides market-leading range and reliability to meet global air cargo demand

FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom, July 22, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and National Airlines announced today the global carrier has committed to place its first order for four 777 Freighters. Currently the longest-range twin-engine freighter with unrivaled payload capacity, the 777 Freighter will help maximize the airline's commercial cargo service and boost market share across its global operations.

"We are elated by this remarkable order of four Boeing 777 Freighters. This demonstrates our commitment to offering efficient, resourceful, and modern air freight services to support our global customers' increasing transportation demands," said Christopher Alf, chairman of National Airlines. "The order affirms our fleet growth plan as we enter into the next chapter of National. We sincerely appreciate the support by Boeing and all its associated teams in this journey ahead."

Once finalized, National Airlines' first direct purchase of Boeing airplanes will be posted to Boeing's Orders & Deliveries website.

The 777 Freighter can fly farther (9,200 km / 4,970 nmi) and carry more freight (107 tonnes) than any other twin-engine cargo jet today. This capability enables operators to fly more freight on more nonstop routes with better operating economics.

"We appreciate National Airlines for its trust in Boeing and the 777 Freighter to grow the carrier's global fleet and deliver greater value for its customers," said Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "With its cargo capacity, range and reliability, operators continue to rely on the 777 Freighter to build their future fleets, making it the best-selling freighter of all time."

The 777 Freighters will join National Airline's expanding fleet of nine 747-400 freighters. Designed to integrate seamlessly with existing 747 operations, the 777 Freighter allows carriers to easily transfer cargo between the two airplanes to streamline ground logistics and leverage additional cost savings through fleet commonality.

Boeing has delivered more than 270 777 Freighters to date. As the market leader in freighter airplanes, Boeing provides more than 90% of the worldwide dedicated freighter capacity, including production and converted airplanes. Over the next 20 years, Boeing's 2024 Commercial Market Outlook predicts an additional 2,845 freighters will enter service to meet growing global trade and e-commerce.

FLEET - National Airlines takes delivery of first A330-300

National Airlines (N8, Orlando Sanford) has acquired its first A330-300, from Monaco-based lessor Stratos, the aircraft investment specialist confirmed.

N873CA (msn 1348) was sold to National and registered in the United States on May 28, ch-aviation research has revealed. However, the airframe has not been moved out of storage from Châteauroux Déols Marcel Dassault, according to ADS-B data.

“As part of our recent fleet modernisation and expansion plan, we are delighted to welcome another Airbus 330 into our fleet this week,” said Christopher Alf, chairman of National Airlines, adding that bringing this widebody to the fleet is “an encouraging response” to the rise in customer charter requests.

The airframe, formerly D-AAAS, is an 11.76-year-old A330-300 formerly employed solely by Thai Airways International (TG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi), according to the ch-aviation fleets module. This carrier operated it between October 2012 and April 2022, and Stratos acquired the aircraft off lease on behalf of an investor and undertook an MRO project on it before delivery to National Airlines.

National Airlines' fleet currently comprises 10 aircraft - one A330-200, six B747-400(BCF)s, one B747-400ERF, one B747-400FSCD, and one B757-200. The company was recently reported to be looking to source additional B747-400 freighters.

B747-400ERF joins National Airlines Fleet

U.S. based National Airlines announces the arrival of a Boeing 747-400 ERF, Extended Range Freighter, to its fleet. This addition is a fuel-efficient freighter under registration N663CA (MSN 35237). Featuring a nose door and a large side door, the aircraft is a logical choice globally for sophisticated cargo movements across long distances. The induction is part of National Airlines’ current global fleet and network expansion approach to meet the massive demand to move huge shipments worldwide.
The aircraft has a maximum gross payload of an incredible 128 metric tons (about 282,000 pounds). The nose door loading capability, a unique feature of this type of aircraft, gives National the capability to move customers’ shipments of any length, which is not possible with the B777 freighter. This aircraft is also particularly suitable for pharmaceuticals, seafood, perishables, and other cold chain shipments.
“The introduction of the B747-400 ERF aircraft is part of our greater vision to modernize our fleet and enhance our service offerings for our customers. Our prime focus is not just rapid fleet expansion, but also to offer newer and innovative air freight solutions to the post-COVID global market to meet growing specialized cargo demands”, remarked Christopher Alf, Chairman of National Air Cargo Holdings, Inc.
With this addition, National Airlines offers additional freighter capacity to carry lengthy, odd-sized, bulk and delicate cargo across its global network of over 200 airports within a stipulated time frame. National will continue to add more freighter aircraft to its fleet in the coming months.
