BB Airways plans to resume operations this year

BB Airways (Kathmandu) is planning to restart operations this year.

The Nepalese airline purchased a grounded Boeing 757-200 (9N-ACA) from Nepal Airlines. 

It is planning to restart operations in 2018 At present BB Airways has operating permission to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Hong Kong, China; New Delhi, India; Tokyo, Japan; Doha, Qatar; Bangkok, Thailand and Singapore.

BB Airways acquires B757, to resume ops

Nepal Airlines (RA, Kathmandu) has finalized the sale of B757-200 9N-ACA (msn 23850) following a six-month tender process. According to the Khasokhas Weekly magazine, the aircraft was sold to Bhawan Bhatta, the Managing Director of dormant Nepali carrier BB Airways (BBW, Kathmandu), for NPR151 million Nepali rupee (USD1.46 million).
BB Airways was among several bidders for the 30-year-old twinjet alongside US-based Avion Systems, Himalaya Aviation Consultant, TBI Group Nepal, and Israel-based APS Airparts, Services and Supplies and two individuals, Janardan Man Dangol and Anu Manandhar.

"We have purchased one B757-200 for BB Airways," said corporate director and spokesperson Ravindra Shrestha. "We have also made a 10% down-payment on the aircraft."

According to the report, once it has been returned to operational service, 9N-ACA will be deployed on the Kathmandu-Delhi Int'l, India route suggesting BB Airways will be resuming operations in due course. BB Airways briefly operated regional Asian flights in 2012/13 using a B757-200 wet-leased from the now-defunct Cambodian operator, TonléSap Airlines (K9, Phnom Penh).

BB Airways to relaunch operations with two A320s; eyes a "significantly" larger network

BB Airways  plans to "significantly expand" its international network following a restructuring exercise. Despite only launching in September 2012, the Nepali carrier shut up shop in February following the return of a wet-leased B757-200, which it now plans to replace with two dry-leased Airbus A320-200s, due shortly. Should operations eventually resume, BB Airways intends to focus on the migrant-worker market, with possible destinations including India, Saudi-Arabia, Malaysia and the Gulf states, all of whom are home to large Nepali expatriate communities.

BB Airways adds Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur with wet-leased B757-200

BB Airways has now wet-leased B757-200 XU-TSC from its partner TonléSap Airlines to launch new four times weekly service from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur International and three weekly flights to Hong Kong Chep Lap Kok International.

These new flights have been launched on October 11.
