FLEET - China Southern orders 102 A320neo, Xiamen orders 35

China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou) and its subsidiary Xiamen Airlines (MF, Xiamen) have ordered a total of 137 aircraft from Airbus, China Southern revealed in a stock exchange filing. A total of 102 A320neo aircraft will go to China Southern, while Xiamen’s fleet will be updated with 35 of the type.

Deliveries for China Southern are set to take place in batches from 2028 to 2032, while Xiamen’s new aircraft will start entering the fleet in 2029 with final deliveries expected also in 2032.

The filing states that China Southern and Xiamen Airlines received a significant discount compared to the list price.

China Southern’s fleet already includes 178 A320neo family aircraft, while Xiamen Airlines operates 19 A320neo family aircraft in its fleet.

The announcement comes shortly after Germany's chancellor, Friedrich Merz, announced during a state visit to Beijing that China was looking to purchase up to 120 Airbus aircraft. Airbus operates an A320neo final assembly line in Tianjin.

FLEET - China's Xiamen Airlines takes first A320-200N

Xiamen Airlines (MF, Xiamen) took delivery of its first A320-200N, B-32MY (msn 12708), on October 29. The aircraft is the first of twenty units from a direct order placed with Airbus in 2022.

According to ADS-B data, B-32MY departed Toulouse Blagnac on October 28, made a technical stop at Samarkand, and arrived at Xiamen the following day. It flew under the airline's 'CXA' callsign during the delivery flight.

The aircraft is powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines and configured with 180 all-economy seats.

Xiamen Airlines plans to deploy the A320-200N on domestic routes from November 20, initially operating between Xiamen and Hohhot, Jinan, Nanjing, and Zhengzhou.

In addition to its A320neo order, the airline has twenty-five A321-200NX and one B737-8 still pending delivery, according to the ch-aviation fleets module.

Xiamen Airlines' fleet currently comprises one A320-200N, seventeen A321-200NX, four B737-700s, twenty-seven B737-8s, 114 B737-800s, one B737-800(BCF), six B787-8s, and six B787-9s.

On the morning of September 26th, at Fuzhou Changle International Airport, amidst the laughter of many passengers, another themed painted Boeing 737-800 (B-1913) from Xiamen Airlines, featuring the Universal Beijing Resort Minion Land, took off and flew to Beijing.

This is the second collaborative painted themed plane introduced by Xiamen Airlines, following the announcement in July of the first “Airline Friend of Universal Beijing Resort”.

Two weeks ago, Xiamen Airlines unveiled its first painted aircraft themed after Universal Beijing Resort Jurassic World Isla Nublar, attracting numerous IP fans and travelers. Now, Xiamen Airlines has brought another new landmark for Minion Land fans, and through this “airborne business card,” continues to invite travelers worldwide to come to China and visit Universal Beijing Resort.

This time, Xiamen Airlines boldly broke away from its usual elegant and dignified “Blue Sky Egret” fleet style. They brought the star Minions from Universal Beijing Resort’s Minion Land and their bananas onto the plane’s fuselage. The bright yellow color contrasts strongly with the classic “Xiamen Airlines blue,” attracting the attention of tourists.

At the inaugural flight event, passengers felt the happiness and infectious energy from Universal Beijing Resort starting from the check-in process. Passengers dressed in overalls along the way greeted each other with “Bello.” Ms. Chen, a passenger, expressed herself as a super fan of the Minion Land and has been a loyal Xiamen Airlines customer for many years. After seeing Xiamen Airlines’ Weibo announcement of the inaugural flight, she immediately purchased a ticket and became one of the first passengers to board the painted plane. Moreover, at the inaugural ceremony, she was chosen as a lucky passenger and had the opportunity to participate in the unveiling of the plane’s livery.




Xiamen Airlines has officially launched a variety of themed gift cards that include benefits such as flight coupons, themed meal selection, seat selection, and Egret Points. There are limited-time offers for gift card purchases, with a chance to receive Universal Studios Beijing One-Day Dated Ticket. On the inaugural day, some passengers were already excited to collect three commemorative edition e-boarding passes and took photos with the backdrop wall of the “Universal Studios Beijing Minion Land” at the inaugural event.

Since the beginning of this year, the tourism market has experienced rapid recovery. The first A321 Xiamen Airlines in the Airbus fleet

 The first day of the new year saw a new shiny toy being delivered to Xiamen Airlines as the airline took delivery of its first Airbus A321neo. The aircraft is an A321-200NX registered B-32CU (11190) and was manufactured at Hamburg-Finkenwerder.

The delivery of the A321-200NX also marks the first Airbus ever for the airline, which was previously operating an all-Boeing fleet. Xiamen Airlines announced in September 2022 that it had ordered 40 A320neo-family aircraft to support the airline's growth and cover for the continuous grounding of the Boeing B737MAX in China.

Next to its new Airbus, Xiamen Airlines's fleet consists of nine Boeing B737-700s, 131 B737-800s, ten B737-8s, six B787-8s and six B787-9s.

Xiamen Airlines headed for Hollywood from Qingdao on 11 December, the day which saw the carrier commence its first long-haul route from the Chinese airport, a connection to Los Angeles

According to Xiamen Airlines’ Qingdao Sales Manager, Zheng Weijian, the performance of the new service is doing very well, with the initial flight having a load factor of 80% according to various reports in Chinese media. The SkyTeam member will offer three weekly flights on the 10,110-kilometre route using its 787-9s, of which it currently has four, with a further two expected to join the fleet. No other carrier currently operates between the two airports. By launching services between Qingdao and Los Angeles, Xiamen Airlines now offers five non-stop transpacific city pairs, with it already linking Los Angeles with Xiamen. The airline also serves New York JFK, Seattle-Tacoma and Vancouver in North America.

Xiamen Airlines will deploy a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the new route

Xiamen Airlines, the fast-growing Chinese carrier, has launched its first ever flights to Los Angeles.

The airline’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner touched down at LAX for the first time on 27 June 2017, following a trans-Pacific flight from Xiamen, in Southeast China’s Fujian province.

Under the new schedule, Xiamen Airlines flight MF829 will depart Xiamen’s Gaoqi International Airport at 2000 every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and arrive in Los Angeles at 1800 the same day, having crossed the International Date Line. The return service, MF830, then leaves LAX at 0015 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and arrives back in Xiamen at 0530 the next morning.

Xiamen Airlines will deploy its largest aircraft on the route – a 257 seat 787-9 Dreamliner with business and economy class cabins.

This becomes the third US route for the airline, following its existing Xiamen-Shenzhen-Seattle and Fuzhou-New York services. It also plans to launch Xiamen-Qingdao-Los Angeles flights in December this year.

“The opening of the route means Xiamen Airlines will operate 10 flights between China’s Fujian province and the US weekly, creating a convenient air bridge that strengthens economic and trade ties, and enhances cultural exchanges between the US and China,” the airline said in a statement.

Xiamen Airlines on 15 February made New York its second destination in the US.

On that day the carrier launched a three times weekly service from Fuzhou (FOC) to New York JFK (JFK), a distance of 12,477 kilometres. That’s over 2,000 kilometres longer than the SkyTeam member’s previous longest route between Shenzhen and Seattle-Tacoma, a route it launched last September. No other carrier offers non-stop flights between Fuzhou and the US. Both routes are flown using the airline’s 787-8s. It also uses the same type to support service to Amsterdam and Vancouver.

New Air Route to Link Fuzhou, New York

China's Xiamen Airlines will launch a new direct route linking Fuzhou, capital city of East China's Fujian province, and New York City on Feb. 15.
The round-trip flights will be conducted by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. It will depart from Fuzhou at 8:45 a.m. Beijing time on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flights depart New York at 12:25 p.m. local time.
In addition, Egyptian airline Air Leisure has opened a weekly flight starting from Jan. 5 between Fuzhou and Egyptian capital Cairo as well as Aswan City. The first direct air route linking Fujian province with Africa is operating on every Thursday until the end of April.
The two routes are launched to offer convenience for people to visit their hometowns in Fujian province and for those traveling to Africa around the Spring Festival, which falls on Jan. 28 this year

Xiamen Airlines Takes Delivery of Its Second 787-9 Dreamliner

Xiamen Airlines, a subsidiary of China Southern Airlines, Wednesday took delivery of its second Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport.

The 787-9 Dreamliner, Registration B-1566, is equipped with 287 seats in a two-class layout - 30 in business class and 257 in economy class.

In early December, the airline received its first of six 787-9 Dreamliner, becoming the third 787-9 operator following Air China and Hainan Airlines.

Besides, another Boeing 737-800 aircraft (B-1580) joined in its fleet on January 21. With the arrival of two aircraft, Xiamen Airlines' all-Boeing fleet expands to 148 aircraft, including 17 737-700s, 119 737-800s, six 787-8s, four 757-200s and two 787-9s.

Xiamen Airlines is the only Chinese airline that operates an all-Boeing fleet to more than 220 domestic routes and almost 30 international and regional routes. The airline has become the only Chinese civil airline that has maintained profitability for 29 consecutive years.

Xiamen Airlines' first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, Registration B-1566, touched down at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2016, becoming the third airline to operate the stretched Dreamliner in mainland China following Air China and Hainan Airlines.

Different from the three-cabin layout on 787-8, Xiamen Airlines' first 787-9 is equipped with 287 seats in a two-class layout - 30 in business class and 257 in economy class.



The Xiamen-based carrier announced the 787-9 Dreamliner will be deployed on domestic routes before serving long-haul North American flights, starting with Xiamen-Beijing route on December 10.

Xiamen Airlines, a subsidiary of China Southern Airlines, Tuesday took delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in Seattle, the U.S.

The 787-9 Dreamliner, Registration B-1566, will touch down at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport on the afternoon of December 8, Beijing Time, after a 16-ours' delivery flight from South Carolina's Charleston International Airport (CHS).
Different from the three-cabin layout on 787-8, Xiamen Airlines' first 787-9 is equipped with 287 seats in a two-class layout - 30 in business class and 257 in economy class.
Xiamen Airlines and Boeing held a grand ceremony to celebrate the delivery of the airline's first 787-9 Dreamliner in South Carolina.
After familiarization, the brand-new Dreamliner will be deployed on North American routes, flying between Fuzhou and New York in February 2017.
In July 2016, the airline ordered six 787-9s, worth US$1.4 billion at list prices. Delivery will be completed between 2016 and 2018.

Xiamen Airlines to Fly 787-9 to New York Next February

Xiamen Airlines will launch a non-stop service between Fuzhou and New York in February 2017.
The Xiamen-based carrier said it will operate the New York Service thrice weekly from February 15, 2017, using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which features a three-class configuration with four seats in first, 18 in business and 215 in economy.
Flight MF849 is scheduled to depart Fuzhou at 9:15 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and arrive in New York JFK at 10:55 a.m. The return flight, MF850, will take off from New York at 12:55 p.m. and touch back down in Fuzhou at 5:00 p.m. the following day (all local time).
Reservations for the new service have opened and fares are now available for purchase, the airline said in a statement.
New York will become Xiamen Airlines' second U.S. destination after Seattle, which the carrier is set to launch from Shenzhen on September 26. These represent the latest series of long-haul destinations -- after Amsterdam and Vancouver -- that the Skyteam carrier has started serving since the arrival of the 787 Dreamliner.

Xiamen Airlines is expected to take delivery of its first 787-9 in December 2016.

Xiamen Airlines Welcomes Its 154th Boeing Aircraft

A brand new Boeing 737-800 aircraft Monday landed smoothly at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport and joined the fleet of Xiamen Airlines, which is the 7th Boeing aircraft introduced by the airline this year.

With the arrival of the new airplane, Registration B-7560, the Xiamen-based airline expanded its all-Boeing fleet size to 154, including 17 737-700s, 109 737-800s, six 787-8s and four 757-200s. The carrier is regarded as one of the most profitable airlines in the world, with a record of 29 consecutive years of profit.

Xiamen Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines have further extended their cooperation by officially inking the long-term maintenance contract for Boeing 787 engines in Amsterdam.

Under the agreement, Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Manintenance (AFI KLM E&M) , a fully certified MRO organization for the 787 Genx engines, will handle maintenance and repair of the GEnx engines powering the total six 787 Dreamliners in Xiamen Airlines fleet.

The ten-year contract, valued at no less than US$125 million, was signed in a KLM hangar at Schiphol East on April 4, by Ton Dortmans, Executive Vice President E&M KLM, and Cai Chengbao, Executive Vice President Xiamen Airlines. Also present were Xiamen Airlines Chairman & CEO, Che Shanglun, and KLM president & CEO Pieter Elbers.

Xiamen Airlines Chairman Che Shanglun and KLM's CEO Pieter Elbers underline the importance in the next steps of the cooperation and said "This agreement is part of a much broader cooperation between the Skyteam partners KLM and Xiamen Airlines. Xiamen Airlines reveals new long-haul routes

Chinese airline to launch flights to Melbourne, Vancouver, Seattle and New York

China’s Xiamen Airlines is stepping up its long-haul expansion with plans to launch flights to Vancouver, Seattle, New York and Melbourne in the coming months.

The airline launched its first ever long-haul flights to Amsterdam in September last year, and then followed this up with the start of services to Sydney in December.

This Australian expansion will continue in June 2016 with the start of three weekly flights to Melbourne, direct from Xiamen, the airline’s base in southeast China’s Fujian province. 

Then in July it plans to launch four weekly flights from Xiamen to Vancouver, marking its first ever trans-Pacific flight, and in September the carrier will start flying four times a week from Xiamen to Seattle, via Shenzhen. 

And finally in January 2017, Xiamen Airlines will launch a new daily flight between Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province, and New York.

Xiamen Airlines’ long-haul expansion is being enabled by its new fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline already operates six B787-8 Dreamliners and will start taking delivery of the larger B787-9 aircraft later this year.

The airline has significant future expansion plans, with a target of increasing its current fleet of 152 aircraft to 270 jets by the end of 2020.
