The incorporation of the E195-E2 by LATAM includes a firm order for 24 aircraft, valued at approximately US$2.1 billion (list price), plus 50 purchase options. Deliveries to LATAM Airlines Brasil will begin in the last quarter of 2026, and the first destinations to be served by the model will be announced soon.

FLEET - LATAM Airlines Group expects the delivery of 37 aircraft through the remainder of 2026. Additionally, the group has incorporated into its order book and upcoming deliveries three B787-9 aircraft, two arriving in 2027 and one in 2028.

NEW LIVERY (only E-195-E2)- LATAM Brasil will break a rule when it receives the new E195-E2 jets from Embraer, which will have a slightly different visual identity from the airline's Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

In addition to this change in the fuselage, the LATAM logo, which is a silhouette of the map of South America, was added to the engines. This change was not explained, but it is possibly related to the fact that the E195-E2 does not have winglets, but rather slanted wingtips. On Airbus aircraft, the winglets are painted with the company's red and purple colors. On Embraer, this would not be possible and, for this probable reason, the artwork was added to the engines.

LATAM Airlines Brasil will expand its international network starting in April 2026 with increased flight frequency to Miami, Rome, Barcelona, ​​and Amsterdam.

Starting in April 2026, the airline will increase its international offering from its main long-haul hub in São Paulo/Guarulhos.

ORDER - LATAM GROUP ANNOUNCES PLAN TO BOOST CONNECTIVITY IN SOUTH AMERICA WITH THE EMBRAER E195-E2

The Embraer E195-E2 will join LATAM group’s fleet through an order of up to 74 aircraft – including 24 firm deliveries and 50 additional purchase options.


With this investment, LATAM group aims to strengthen its South American network, with the opportunity to add up to 35 new destinations to its current 160.


Deliveries of the 24 firm aircraft will begin in the second half of 2026, initially for LATAM Airlines Brazil and potentially later for other LATAM group affiliates.


Santiago (Chile), September 22, 2025 - LATAM Airlines Group S.A. (NYSE: LTM; SSE: LTM) and its affiliates today announced an agreement with Embraer (NYSE: ERJ; B3: EMBR3) and plans to expand connectivity across South America, supported by the acquisition of up to 74 Embraer E195-E2 small narrowbody aircraft. The order includes 24 firm deliveries and 50 purchase options. Deliveries of the firm aircraft will start in the second half of 2026, initially for LATAM Airlines Brazil and potentially later for other LATAM group affiliates.

This initiative underscores LATAM group’s ongoing investment in strengthening its domestic and regional operations, building on steady and profitable growth achieved over the past four years. The new fleet will enhance flexibility across LATAM group’s hubs, enabling the group to serve additional destinations and expand travel options for customers. The firm order for 24 aircraft is valued at approximately US$2.1 billion at list prices.

As declared on the occasion of LATAM group’s FY2024 earnings release, the company has a financial policy with metrics that include leverage and liquidity. This new fleet investment fits within the current Financial Policy, and no changes to the policy are expected.

Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the Embraer E195-E2 combines competitive seat costs, superior fuel efficiency, and enhanced passenger comfort thanks to its 2-2 cabin configuration. Powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines and featuring advanced aerodynamics with the latest fly-by-wire technology, the aircraft delivers up to 30% lower fuel consumption per seat compared to previous-generation models.
The E195-E2s will join LATAM group’s fleet of 362 aircraft, which currently includes 283 Airbus narrow-bodies, 3 Airbus wide-bodies under short-term lease, 56 Boeing wide-bodies, and 20 Boeing freighters. Since 2021, LATAM group has expanded its network from 129 to 160 passenger destinations – a 24% increase – underscoring its continued investment in strengthening operations across the region.

FLEET - LATAM to add 11 A320neo in 2026, delays A319 retirements

LATAM Airlines Group has secured the delivery of 11 additional A320neo aircraft in 2026, the company revealed in its second-quarter financial results and an earnings call.

The group is on track with its fleet plan, it said, having received 14 out of 26 aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2025. But with demand growth currently being experienced, "medium term opportunities for incremental growth have been identified in most markets where LATAM Group affiliates operate", and so during the quarter 11 additional A320neo family aircraft were secured for delivery in 2026. No further details were provided.

In addition, the LATAM Airlines (LA, Santiago de Chile) parent has decided to "delay the progressive retirement" of four A319-100s. According to ch-aviation data, the group operates a total of thirty-nine A319s, averaging 17 years of age, which fly for subsidiaries LATAM Airlines Brasil (fourteen), LATAM Airlines Ecuador (seven), and LATAM Airlines Perú (18).

“Moreover, there may be potential opportunities for further growth over the next two to three years,” the company said, adding that it is looking into acquiring further aircraft from different manufacturers and lessors. It named Airbus, but also Embraer, from which it does not currently operate any aircraft. It is not the first time LATAM has been linked to a potential order from Embraer in recent years.

The main focus of these arrivals would be "to grow passenger transportation within the region and cargo traffic in regional markets," it said.

LATAM operates a fleet of 333 aircraft, including the A319s, 135 A320-200s, thirty-seven A320-200Ns, forty-nine A321-200s, fourteen A321-200Ns, three A330-200s (wet-leased from Wamos Air), nine B767-300ERs, ten B777-300ERs, ten B787-8s, and twenty-seven B787-9s. The company's projection is to close the year with a fleet of 359 aircraft, rising to 384 in 2026, and 394 in 2027.

FLEET - LATAM Airlines takes delivery of its first A321neo, adds 13 more to orderbook

LATAM Airlines has taken delivery of its first A321neo leased from AerCap and placed an order for 13 additional A321neo aircraft to further expand its route network and drive its regional growth. This is the first delivery of a committed backlog of 76 A321neo aircraft. In total, LATAM has 111 A320 Family aircraft to be delivered.

The newly delivered A321neo for LATAM can seat up to 224 passengers and feature Airbus’ Airspace XL bins in the cabin. The larger bins provide a 40% increase in storage space and facilitates 60% more carry-on bags, allowing a more relaxed boarding experience for passengers and cabin crews. The newly delivered A321neo flew to its destination with 49% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

“Our fleet renewal and modernization strategy is fully aligned with our sustainability commitment and brings us closer to the goal of becoming a carbon-neutral group by 2050,” said Ramiro Alfonsín, Chief Financial Officer of LATAM Airlines Group. “We will continue to work on enhancing the current fleet with next-generation aircraft to further improve our connectivity while caring for the environment.”

The A321neo is the largest member of Airbus’ best-selling single-aisle A320 Family. The A321neo allows operators to cover the entire market, while offering the lowest seat-mile cost of any single-aisle available. To date, more than 5,200 A321neos have been ordered by customers worldwide.

LATAM Airlines Group and its affiliates are the main group of airlines in Latin America, with presence in five domestic markets in the region: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, in addition to international operations throughout Europe, Oceania, the United States and the Caribbean. Today, LATAM operates 240 Airbus aircraft and is the largest Airbus operator in Latin America. In July this year, LATAM took delivery of a new Airbus A320neo, the first delivery using 30% SAF.

Airbus has sold over 1,150 aircraft in Latin America and the Caribbean. More than 750 are in operation throughout the region, with more than 520 in the order backlog, representing a market share of 58% of in-service passenger aircraft. Since 1994, Airbus has secured 75% of net orders in the region.

In 2016, Airbus became the first aircraft manufacturer to offer customers SAF at delivery flights. Today, aircraft and helicopters leave Airbus delivery centres with SAF onboard. SAF has been identified as one of the key elements in helping achieve emissions reduction goals

LATAM signs lease-agreement for A321XLRs

During the Farnborough Air Show in July 2022, LATAM announced it had ordered seventeen Airbus A321neos at Airbus and that the airline was planning to also introduce the A321XLR. Now, it seems these will be, at least partially, leased as well as LATAM and Air Lease Corporation signed a lease-agreement for five new A321XLRs.

The A321XLRs will be delivered between 2025 and 2026 and are coming from ALC's existing orderbook with Airbus. According to ALC's press-release, the aircraft are destined for LATAM Chile.

LATAM Airlines to upgrade more than 200 A320 family aircraft with Airbus’ fuel-saving Descent Profile Optimisation function

LATAM Airlines is to upgrade their A320 Family fleet with Airbus’ “Descent Profile Optimisation” (DPO) function – a fuel-saving enhancement to the aircraft’s on-board Flight Management System (FMS) performance database. This upgrade will be performed on over 200 of their A320 family fleet, becoming the biggest Airbus fleet equipped with this powerful fuel saving solution.

All the equipment kits required for the installation of the DPO performance software on LATAM’s A320 Family fleet will start to be delivered from the end of 2021 until early 2022.

The DPO function allows aircraft to descend from cruise altitude using only idle engine thrust, which reduces fuel consumption, bringing proportional CO2 and NOx (nitrogen oxide emissions) reductions. To further enhance the fuel reduction DPO maximises the time spent at efficient cruise level -by not starting the descent too early- and subsequently minimising the amount of time spent at an inefficient ‘level-off’ stage at the bottom of the descent –when the aircraft’s engines generate thrust to maintain level flight in dense air prior to final landing approach.

Optimisation of the aircraft’s flight trajectory is one of the key factors to further improve efficiency in cooperation with Air Traffic Control. By optimising the descent trajectories of its aircraft and reducing the fuel flow to the engines -arising from the lowest ‘idle’ thrust setting during the descent phase- thanks to the DPO function, LATAM Airlines will generate over 100 tons fuel savings per year per aircraft across their network, including constrained airports like Lima, Santiago and São Paulo. This will reduce CO2 emissions by over 300 tons per year per aircraft, representing a significant contribution to more sustainable flight operations with 60,000 tons of CO2 each year for the entire LATAM Airlines’ A320 Family fleet.

DPO is one of the several flight operations optimisation solutions offered by Airbus and its flight operations services subsidiary Navblue. Together with improved Air Traffic Management, these fuel savings solutions enable operators to start aviation decarbonisation now.

LATAM to phase-out all A350-900s

LATAM Airlines has decided to retire its total fleet of eleven A350-900s. The aircraft will be taken off the fleet immediately and had already been parked due to the Corona-pandemic. The retirement is part of the airline's reorganisation under Chapter 11-bankruptcy protection.

Originally, TAM had ordered 25 A350s, which were split between seventeen A350-900s and eight -1000s. The order was placed before the merger with LAN Chile. Last year, LATAM reached a deal with Delta Air Lines and Airbus, in which it sold ten of its remaining orders for the A350 to Delta, which are now on the books as -900s. This leaves LATAM with two remaining A350-1000 open orders as thirteen A350s have been delivered to LATAM.

LATAM took delivery of its first A350-900 in 2016, so the fleet is very young. With this decision, LATAM's long-haul fleet will only consist of Boeings, with 28 B767-300ERs, ten B787-8s, twelve B787-9s and ten B777-300ERs.

LATAM voluntarily files for Chapter 11 protection

South American operator LATAM Airlines Group, along with some of its affiliates, is filing for US Chapter 11 creditor protection in order to undertake a restructuring process.

The company says the voluntary filing, with the Southern District of New York bankruptcy court, has the support of key shareholders Cueto Group and Qatar Airways, which will provide up to $900 million in debtor-in-possession financing.

Cueto Group holds 21.46% of the company, according to the filing. Qatar Airways has 10% and Delta Air Lines has 20%.

Twenty-nine entities are included in the filing. While affiliates in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and the USA are among them, those in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay are not.

”Despite undertaking meaningful cost saving and liquidity-preserving measures, the company’s liquidity position has continued to deteriorate in the wake of the [coronavirus] pandemic,” the LATAM Airlines Group filing states.

LATAM says it is aiming to “transform its business” to maintain a “leading position” in Latin American air transport during recovery from the crisis.

LATAM will voluntary file for protection along with several affiliates

It stresses that there will be “no impact” on passenger and cargo operations.

“This re-organisation process provides LATAM with an opportunity to work with the group’s creditors and other stakeholders to reduce its debt, access new sources of financing and continue operating,” it adds.

LATAM and the affiliates will be able to “re-size” their operations, to match new levels of demand, and re-organise balance sheets to become “more agile, resilient and sustainable”.

“This path represents the best option to lay the right foundation for the future of our airline group,” says chief executive Roberto Alvo, pointing out that LATAM was “healthy and profitable” before the crisis caused a collapse in the air transport sector.

LATAM states that the shareholders’ financial support “demonstrates a belief” in the company and its affiliates.

“To the extent permitted by law, the group would welcome other shareholders interested in participating in this process to provide additional financing,” it adds.

LATAM says it had around $1.3 billion in cash on hand at the time of filing. It is in talks with 

governments of its South American home states to source further funds, to protect jobs and minimise disruption.
