flynas, the official air carrier of Al-Hilal Saudi Club, announced the arrival of its A320neo aircraft featuring Al-Hilal’s identity and signature blue colors at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Thursday, October 30. This milestone makes Al-Hilal the first football club in Saudi Arabia and the entire Middle East to have a dedicated aircraft fully adorned with its own visual identity, under the official carrier partnership with flynas.
This strategic partnership underscores flynas’ commitment to supporting the sports, tourism, and economic sectors in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to position the Kingdom as a leading global destination for major sporting events and competitions. The Al-Hilal team’s first flight aboard its branded aircraft will depart from Riyadh to Doha on Sunday, November 2.

FLEET - Flynas Takes Delivery of Its 60th Airbus A320neo

flynas, the leading low-cost airline in the world and the best LCC in the Middle East, announced taking delivery of its 60th new Airbus A320neo, to continue rapidly expanding its fleet, in line with flynas growth and expansion plan, launched under the title "We Connect the World to the Kingdom", in parallel with the objectives of the National Civil Aviation Strategy to enable national air carriers to contribute to connecting KSA with 250 International destinations and to accommodate 330 million passengers and to host 150 million tourists yearly by 2030 and the objectives of the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP) to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques.

Taking delivery of the latest A320neo aircraft raises the share of the next-generation model to 60 aircraft in flynas' all-Airbus fleet, which currently consists of 66 aircraft, including four A320ceo and two wide-body A330ceo aircraft.

flynas plans to expand its fleet to 160 aircraft by 2030, with its network set to grow from over 70 destinations to 165 and over 300 routes. Since 2018, flynas has ordered a total of 280 Airbus aircraft, making it one of the largest single-aisle aircraft purchase orders in the region.

AIRLINE - Saudi Arabia's flynas raises $1.1bn in sold-out IPO

Investors have snapped up a 30% stake in Saudi low-cost carrier flynas (XY, Riyadh) within minutes of books opening in an initial public offering on May 12, 2025. The airline sold 51.26 million shares priced between SAR76 and SAR80 riyals (USD20.30-21.33) on Riyadh's Tadāwul Stock Exchange to raise approximately SAR4.1 billion (USD1.1 billion).

The IPO included both newly issued shares and stock sold by existing investors, who include billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal’s Kingdom Holding Co. and National Flight Services Co. Proceeds from the sale of new shares will help fund the airline's fleet expansion and network growth, while proceeds from the sale of existing shares will go to the seller. The IPO is the first by a Gulf airline in almost two decades and implies a market capitalisation at listing of SAR13-13.7 billion (USD3.47-3.65 billion). The newly issued shares will represent 10.2% of the carrier’s total share capital on completion.

Announcing the IPO last week, CEO Bander Almohanna called it "a strategic step that will accelerate the execution of our growth ambitions and solidify our position as the leading low-cost carrier for short and medium-haul flights across the Middle East and North Africa by 2030."

flynas, which began operations as nasair (Saudi Arabia) in 2007, operates 71 aircraft to 74 airports in 34 countries. According to ch-aviation fleets data, its fleet includes four A320-200s, fifty-six A320-200Ns, and four A330-300s, with 153 aircraft on order. The network includes Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, South and Central Asia, Europe, and Northern Africa. flynas reported a net profit of SAR434 million (USD115.7 million) in 2024.

"We remain focused on strengthening our market share on key domestic routes while strategically expanding into underserved international markets," added Almohanna. "Our ambitious fleet expansion, including the addition of wide-body aircraft, will further support our growth across all key segments. The flynas IPO precedes an expected USD1 billion Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) IPO in the coming months.

FLEET - flynas signs agreement for additional 75 A320neo Family aircraft and 15 A330neo

Farnborough, United Kingdom, July 25, 2024 – flynas, Saudi Arabia’s leading low-cost carrier, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for 75 A320neo family aircraft and 15 A330-900. This strategic agreement will expand the airline's capacity, range and enhance its overall fleet capabilities.
Signed during Farnborough International Airshow in the presence of President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, Chairman of the Board of NAS Holding Ayed Al Jeaid, flynas Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director Bandar Almohanna, and Airbus Chief Executive Officer, Commercial Aircraft, Christian Scherer.

The new aircraft will join the carrier’s all Airbus fleet serving international, domestic and regional routes. The new A330-900 aircraft will boast a two-class configuration, accommodating up to 400 passengers.

The addition of the A330-900 aircraft will support flynas' ambitious growth plans. The airline anticipates significant operational efficiency gains by combining the new widebody aircraft with its existing A320neo fleet. The A330-900 offers increased capacity and range at unrivalled seat costs, ensuring flynas can compete effectively in the growing regional market, a key focus area for the airline.

The A330neo delivers unbeatable operating economics, powered by the latest-generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, featuring new wings and a range of aerodynamic innovations resulting in a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to previous generation competitor aircraft. The A330neo is capable of flying 8,150 nm / 15,094 km non-stop, providing ultimate comfort with more passenger space, a new lighting system, latest in-flight entertainment systems and full connectivity throughout the cabin.

As with all Airbus aircraft, the A330 family is already able to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The manufacturer is targeting to have its aircraft up to 100% SAF capable by 2030.

FLEET - Saudi low-cost airline flynas welcomes five Airbus A320neo aircraft in one month

Saudi Arabian low-cost airline flynas has bolstered its fleet with the arrival of five Airbus A320neo aircraft in one month. 

The deliveries have boosted the carrier’s all-Airbus fleet to 56 aircraft, reflecting growth of more than 100% in the last two years. 

The growth is part of flynas’ ‘We connect the world with KSA’ expansion, in line with the national civil aviation strategy to reach 330 million passengers and 100 million tourists, as well as increasing the international destinations linked with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to more than 250by 2030. 

With the delivery of the new five A320neo, the total number of aircraft received by flynas this year has reached 11, with 19 A320neo aircraft in total scheduled for delivery in 2023. 

Bander Almohanna, CEO and managing director of flynas, said: “This new batch of aircraft reflects flynas’s commitment to achieving its strategy of growth and expansion by upscaling its fleet and multiplying the seating capacity of domestic and international flights in line with objectives of the program of serving pilgrims to streamline access to the two holy mosques and the national strategy of civil aviation to enable national airlines to participate in linking the world with the Kingdom.”

He indicated that flynas is preparing to launch its latest operations base in Madinah Airport before the end of 2023, making it the only carrier with four operations bases across Saudi Arabia. 

Increasing the number of its A320neo aircraft to 39 aircraft, representing about 70% of its fleet, reinforces flynas’ commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.

Saudi Arabia’s flynas firms up 30 more A320neo Family aircraft

Paris Airshow , 19 June 2023 – flynas, the Saudi air carrier and a leading low-cost airline in the Middle East, has firmed up an order with Airbus for 30 new A320neo Family aircraft, taking the airline’s total order with Airbus to 120 A320neo aircraft, including 10 A321XLRs.

The agreement was signed at the Paris Airshow by Bandar Almohanna, flynas Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director and Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer & Head of International, in the presence of H.E Saleh Al-Jasser Minister of Transport and Logistic Service, H.E. Abdulaziz Alduailj, President of General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia, and Ayed Aljeaid, Chairman of the Board of NAS Holding.

This significant announcement reaffirms flynas' position as a key player in the Kingdom’s aviation industry and highlights the airline’s ambitious plans to keep expanding its fleet with the world’s most modern and fuel-efficient single aisle aircraft.

flynas is an all Airbus operator and was the first airline in Saudi Arabia to acquire the A320neo. The carrier currently operates a fleet of 32 A320neos, 13 A320ceos and four A330-300s. The addition of these new aircraft will support the airline’s growth plans as it continues to expand its international routes and destinations network.

The A320neo Family incorporates the very latest technologies including new generation engines, Sharklets and aerodynamics, which together deliver at least 20 percent lower fuel burn and CO2 emission savings. With more than 8,700 orders from 136 customers, the A320neo Family is the world’s most popular aircraft.

flynas takes first widebody

flynas (XY, Riyadh) has taken delivery of its first two widebody aircraft in the form of A330-300s HZ-NE24 (msn 1607) and HZ-NE22 (msn 1745).

HZ-NE24 was delivered to Jeddah on October 24, followed by HZ-NE22 on December 7. Neither has been deployed into revenue service so far. The two ex-Turkish Airlines aircraft are configured in a single-class layout, seating up to 337 passengers. They are both owned by Park Aerospace Holdings and managed by Avolon, the ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows.

The Saudi low-cost carrier had initially planned to take the two A330s in late 2021. It did not reveal the exact plans for the type, although in the past it wet-leased A330s for Hajj and Umrah flights to Jeddah/Madinah.

flynas did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment concerning its A330 plans.

The LCC also operates thirteen A320-200s and twenty-eight A320-200Ns. It has a further fifty-nine A320-200Ns and ten A321-200NY(XLR)s on firm order from Airbus and is in talks with both Airbus and Boeing about potentially increasing its backlog.

Airbus’ New A321XLR ‘Could Help Gulf Carriers Recover Quicker’

 The A321XLR will allow airlines in a poor financial position to reopen their long-haul

newest passenger jet, set to enter service in 2023, could prove to be an ace card for airlines in the Gulf looking to heave themselves out of the COVID crisis and rebuild quickly, according to one of the region’s aviation experts.

Airbus announced recently that production is underway for the A321XLR, which will enter service with a number of airlines in the Middle East and India, including Air Arabia, Saudia, flynas, Middle East Airlines, IndiGo and potentially Wizz Air Abu Dhabi.

The extra-long-range jet’s arrival on the market will be particularly welcomed by airlines in the Gulf region, which rely so heavily on long-haul international flights, said Rania Hanbali, a consultant at Bauer Aviation Advisory.

“Pre-COVID-19, this already would have been a game-changer aircraft, recent events have caused the commercial aviation industry to completely change, and the A321XLR could aid in recovering long-haul international flights,” she said.




The extra-long-range narrow-body jet can fly for 4,700nm, 15 percent more than its predecessor, allowing airlines to fly further for less fuel cost. European and US carriers have traditionally tended to favour the economics of the A321XLR but the need to add capacity slowly in wake of the pandemic could make the jet more useful for Gulf-based carriers.

flynas firms up 10 A321XLRs

flynas, Saudi Arabia’s first low-cost airline, has signed a firm order for 10 A321XLRs at the 2019 Dubai Airshow. The agreement was signed by Bandar Almohanna, flynas Chief Executive Officer and Christian Scherer Airbus Chief Commercial Officer.

In 2016, flynas signed an agreement for 80 A320neo family and currently operates a fleet of 27 A320ceos and 4 A320neos.

In 2018, the airline transported more than 6.6 million passengers on 60,000 domestic and international flights. The airline is currently operating over 1,200 flights weekly to 17 domestic destinations and 53 international destinations.



The A321XLR is the next evolutionary step from the A321LR which responds to market needs for even more range and payload, creating more value for the airlines. The aircraft will deliver an unprecedented Xtra Long Range of up to 4,700nm – with 30% lower fuel consumption per seat, compared with previous-generation competitor jets. At the end of October 2019, the A320neo Family had accumulated more than 7,000 firm orders from over 110 customers worldwide.

flynas ramps up Hajj charter operations

flynas (XY, Riyadh) has supplemented its Hajj charter fleet with a B747-400 sourced from Indonesia's Lion Airlines (JT, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta). PK-LHG (msn 24065) joins another B747-400 - 9M-ACM (msn 25628) - leased from Malaysia's Eaglexpress Air Charter (EZX, Kuala Lumpur Int'l), an A330-300 - sourced from AirAsia X (D7, Kuala Lumpur Int'l) - and a B757-200 wet-leased from Spain's Privilege Style (P6, Palma de Mallorca Son Sant Joan) on Hajj duty for the Saudi carrier.

As previously announced, euroAtlantic Airways (YU, Lisbon) will also base seven aircraft - one B777-200(ER) and six B767-300(ER)s - out of Jeddah for flynas to ferry pilgrims from India, the CIS and Africa for pilgrimage's duration.
