Boeing announces largest-ever Landing Gear Exchange agreement at Singapore Airshow

SINGAPORE, Feb. 4, 2026 — Boeing [NYSE: BA] announced the largest landing gear exchange contract in Boeing’s history at the Singapore Airshow. Under this contract, Boeing will provide landing gear exchanges for more than 75 aircraft across the 737 MAX and 787 fleets operated by the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group. The landing gear exchange program offers gear overhaul scheduling flexibility that will optimize the useful life of the gears and minimizing aircraft downtime.

ROUTES - Air India entered a unilateral interline partnership with Scoot.

Air India passengers flying to Singapore from Chennai, New Delhi and Mumbai will be able to connect to a host of destinations via Scoot “that were previously not covered by any of the airline's other existing partnerships,” the airline said.

FLEET - Mahan Air acquires B777-200ERs

Several Iranian aviation news sites are reporting that Mahan Air has been able to successfully acquire Boeing B777-200ERs and that the aircraft have arrived in the country in the recent weeks.

According to the sites, the airline has secured five former NokScoot B777-200ERs, which have been acquired through UDAAN Aviation in Madagascar. All five aircraft were positioned to Siem Raep in Cambodia on 4 July 2025 and left with destination unknown on 15 July 2025. 

Now we know they have surfaced in Iran. The sites are also reporting that five more B777-200ERs are to follow soon.

The five aircraft currently involved, and which are still on the register in Madagascar are:

5R-HER (28522), which is former 9V-SRG of Singapore Airlines and HS-XBB of NokScoot
5R-IJA (28527), which is former 9V-SRJ and HS-XBD
5R-ISA (30866), former 9V-SRH and HS-XBC.

Using third countries and operators to procure new aircraft is a common way for Iran to circumvent the sanctions imposed on the country. We have reported several times on aircraft that suddenly popped-up with Iranian carriers.

FLEET - Scoot (Singapore) expects 14 to 16 new aircraft expected in 2025, including four E190-E2, seven to nine A320s, and three B787s.

The carrier has also extended the leases of six A320s after all six of its A320neos were grounded with engine issues.

FLEET - Scoot’s first E190-E2 commences revenue flights

 

Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), commenced revenue flights with its new Embraer E190-E2 fleet earlier today. The first aircraft, named Explorer 3.0, departed Singapore’s Changi Airport, bound for Krabi, Thailand.

“We would like to congratulate Scoot on this momentous occasion,” said Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer of Embraer Commercial Aviation. “We are proud to see the modern and fuel-efficient E2 aircraft grace the skies over Singapore and Southeast Asia and would like to thank all the involved stakeholders who worked tirelessly to make this possible.”

Mr. Holmes represented Embraer at Scoot’s E190-E2 launch event which was held at Changi Airport prior to the departure of the first revenue flight.

The operation of Explorer 3.0 will see an increase in the frequency of Scoot’s flights to Krabi and Hat Yai from 7-times weekly to 10-times weekly for both destinations.

Scoot’s second E190-E2 arrived in Singapore on 29 April and will commence revenue flights soon.

FLLET - Scoot takes delivery of 1st E190-E2

Azorra is celebrating delivery of the first of nine new Embraer E190-E2 aircraft to Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA).
A special handover ceremony was attended today by senior executives from Azorra, Scoot, and Embraer at Embraer’s facility in Brazil. Named ‘Explorer 3.0’, in celebration of the third and newest fleet addition to the Scoot family, the delivery of the E190-E2 marks the first time a Singapore carrier is introducing an aircraft from the Brazilian manufacturer.

Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer of Scoot, says: “We are honored to be the first Singapore carrier to take delivery of this modern and fuel-efficient aircraft and the E190-E2 jets are crucial to our overall network growth strategy. FLEET - Embraer and Scoot Sign Pool Program Agreement for its E190-E2 fleet

Singapore, September 26, 2023 – Embraer announced that it has signed a Pool Program services agreement with Scoot to support the airline’s incoming fleet of nine E190-E2. The Pool Program provides access to component exchanges and repair services for more than 300 repairable parts to support Scoot’s Embraer aircraft, allowing the airline to minimize their upfront investment in high-value repairable inventories and resources, while taking advantage of Embraer’s technical expertise along with its vast component repair service provider network. Currently, the Pool Program supports more than 60 airlines worldwide.

The E190-E2 jet is the world’s most efficient and quietest single-aisle aircraft and the first batch of E190-E2 will be delivered to Scoot in 2024. In addition to the Pool Program, Scoot’s operations will benefit from the AHEAD (Aircraft Health Analysis and Diagnosis) which comprises early detection capabilities for critical systems, reducing technical interruptions and avoiding flight cancellations; the eSight, with real-time fleet performance monitoring.

The E-Jets E2 family of aircraft, including the E190-E2 has the longest maintenance intervals in the single-aisle jet category – with 10,000 flight hours for basic checks and no calendar limit for typical E-Jet operations. This enables the aircraft to be operated with minimal downtime.

The E190-E2 and the E195-E2, both part of the E-Jets E2 family, were designed using more than 20 million hours of experience accrued by the first generation of E-Jets, ensuring that the E2 aircraft are modern and advanced, yet retain the maturity and reliability of the previous generation aircraft. The first-generation E-Jet is one of the most successful commercial jets in the industry and continues to operate across the globe, with more than 80 airlines across 50 countries and more than 1,700 units delivered.

Singapore is the nerve centre for Embraer’s services and support Asia Pacific operations. In addition to personnel based in Singapore, the Company has a Regional Distribution Centre within Changi Airport’s free trade zone. Recently, Embraer and CAE announced the establishment of a state-of-the-art E2 full flight simulator and pilot training program in Singapore which will commence in 2023. The full flight simulator will be based at the Singapore-CAE Flight Training Centre located at SIA Training Centre.

Singapore, 23 May 2023 –Singapore Airlines’ low-cost subsidiary, Scoot, has selected the Embraer E190-E2 to unlock growth in the region. Nine E190-E2 will join Scoot’s fleet in a lease arrangement with Azorra. The first delivery of the E190-E2, the quietest and most fuel-efficient aircraft under 150 seats, is scheduled for delivery in 2024. The aircraft will come from Azorra’s existing backlog with Embraer.

The E190-E2 is part of Embraer’s latest E-Jets E2 family of commercial jets, which entered into service in 2018. Airlines such as KLM, Porter, and Azul operate the E-Jets E2 family of aircraft, and new operators, including Royal Jordanian, Salam Air and TUI, were recently announced.

Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family of aircraft delivers the best environmental efficiency, operating performance, and passenger comfort. The aircraft’s sophisticated aerodynamics, novel wing design and new technologies deliver a 25% decrease in carbon emissions and fuel burn over the previous generation E-Jets.

The E190-E2 and the E195-E2 was designed using the 20 million hours of experience the first generation of E-Jets accrued, ensuring that the E2 aircraft are modern and advanced, yet retain the maturity and reliability of the previous generation aircraft. The first-generation E-Jet is one of the most successful commercial jets in the industry and continues to operate across the globe, with more than 80 airlines across 50 countries and more than 1,700 units delivered.

Embraer is committed to developing products, solutions, and technologies to contribute to the aviation industry’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. Embraer aims to be carbon neutral by 2040 and achieve carbon neutral growth from 2022. It plans to implement 25% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) use in its operations by 2040 and 100% renewable energy sources by 2030.

In June 2022, having already been certified for operations using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blends of up to 50%, the E195-E2, successfully completed a test flight using 100% SAF, further reinforcing Embraer’s commitment to emissions reduction and sustainable aviation. NEW AIRCRAFT - Scoot announces lease-agreement for E190-E2s

Scoot announced it has reached a lease-agreement with Azorra for the lease of new Embraer E190-E2s. Already in December last year, Scramble reported that the airline was looking into ordering E190-E2s and/or E195-E2s. In total, the deal is for nine aircraft, which is substantially lower than the anticipated number of 50 that Bloomberg reported in December.

The first new E2s will be delivered in 2024, while the remaining eight are scheduled to arrive in 2025. Scoot is planning to utilize the new type in the fleet for thinner routes to "non-metro destinations" out of Singapore.

Currently, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines flies with 25 Airbus A320s, six A320neos, nine A321neos, ten Boeing B787-8s, and ten B787-9s.

Scoot now has a Pokémon-jet

Scoot has signed a cooperation with the Pokémon Company and will offer bi-monthly themed Pokémon Air Adventure-flights from Singapore to Tokyo-Narita and Seoul-Incheon. The flights will be operated by Boeing B787-9 9V-OJJ (37131), which has received a special Pikachu-livery.

Apart from the special Pokémon Air Adventure-flights, the Dreamliner will be operated on the airline's normal service and made it's first commercial flight in its new livery on 5 September, operating on TR472 to Kuala Lumpur.

Scoot, a the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has a fleet of 25 Airbus A320s, six A320neos, nine A321neos, ten Boeing B787-8s and ten B787-9s.

Scoot’s Berlin-Singapore Route Joins Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) Arrangement

 

Singapore will expand its Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) arrangements effective 19 October 2021, enabling Berlin to be included in the VTL with Germany.

Accordingly, from 19 October 2021, Scoot will operate thrice-weekly non-stop flights between Singapore and Berlin. TR735, the Berlin-Singapore sector, will be designated a VTL flight, enabling passengers who meet specific eligibility criteria and requirements to avoid the need for quarantine upon return to Singapore.

These new non-stop services complement the existing Singapore – Athens – Berlin (vv) services, which will continue to accommodate travellers who do not meet VTL requirements, or who do not need to fly on a VTL flight.

Singapore’s Updated VTL Arrangements

Singapore is including Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States of America (USA) from 19 October 2021, and South Korea from 15 November 2021. This is on top of the existing VTL arrangements with Germany and Brunei.

The VTL allows quarantine-free* travel from these countries to Singapore for eligible vaccinated travellers.

That means eligible customers may travel freely between Singapore and Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea**, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America via the VTL.

*Singapore citizens and permanent residents (PR) may enter all VTL countries, except for Brunei, without quarantine restrictions

**A different set of eligibility criteria applies to customers who wish to travel between South Korea and Singapore. For more information on the bilateral travel agreement between South Korea and Singapore, please click here.

Vaccinated Travel Lane Eligibility Criteria and Health Measures

Scoot customers who wish to travel under the VTLs must meet all eligible VTL criteria and required health measures. With effect from 19 October 2021, the VTL requirements include:
Having a 14-day travel history in any VTL country and/or Singapore before departure on the VTL flight. The travel history can be a combination of both Singapore and the VTL country. Please note that transit countries are considered part of your travel history.

For example, a customer who has remained in Singapore for at least nine days, can travel from Singapore to Germany for five days, and return to Singapore via the VTL arrangement as the combined travel history would have met the 14-day requirement.
Being fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with any vaccine in the World Health Organisation Emergency Use List. The final dose must be completed at least 14 days prior to arrival in Singapore. Children aged 12 and below, who are ineligible for the Covid-19 vaccination, may travel on VTL flights into Singapore if they are accompanied by an eligible vaccinated individual. Customers are advised to check on the prevailing entry requirements imposed by the countries they are travelling to, including any restrictions on the age of travellers and vaccination status, before booking their flights.
Providing a vaccination certificate in English issued by the Singapore Government or the European Union Digital Covid Certificate (EUDCC) issued by any European VTL country. All vaccination certificates must be digitally certifiable (i.e. with a QR code for verification).
Please note that the CovPass or the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP), also known as the Carte Jaune or Yellow Card, will not be accepted.
Residents of the EU or Singapore who were previously unvaccinated and had recovered from a past Covid-19 infection are considered fully vaccinated if they have received at least one dose of an approved vaccine. Such travellers will be required to provide an EU recovery certificate from Covid-19, or a discharge memo issued in Singapore.

Flying only on designated VTL flights

To view the full set of VTL requirements and health measures, 

Short-term visitors and Long-Term Pass holders must apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) between seven and 30 days prior to their intended date of entry into Singapore. Travellers may apply for the VTP from 12 October 2021.

Singapore citizens and permanent residents are not required to apply for the Vaccinated Travel Pass. However, they must show their vaccination status on the HealthHub app, or present proof of their vaccination at check-in. Children aged 12 and below are also not required to apply for the VTP.

Short-term visitors who require a visa for travel to Singapore must separately obtain a visa. They are advised to do so after receiving their VTP approval and before departure.

All visitors must also purchase travel insurance, with a minimum coverage of S$30,000 for Covid-19-related medical treatment and hospitalisation costs, prior to travel to Singapore.

These visitors must also use the TraceTogether app in Singapore to facilitate contact tracing.

Scoot customers with existing bookings

Customers with existing bookings for Scoot’s Singapore-Athens-Berlin and/or Berlin-Athens-Singapore non-VTL flights who meet the VTL requirements may opt to be reaccommodated onto Scoot’s non-stop Singapore-Berlin and Berlin-Singapore (VTL) flights.

Scoot will reach out to customers who booked directly with us to provide the necessary assistance. Customers can also reach out to Scoot for assistance by contacting our call centre. Customers with bookings made through a travel agency or other third-party platforms should contact these parties directly for assistance. Do note that these parties may charge additional fees, depending on the terms and conditions of the booking.

Travellers who do not meet the VTL requirements may travel on Scoot’s non-VTL flights to and from Berlin instead, ie. Singapore-Athens-Berlin and Berlin-Athens-Singapore. Please note that passengers travelling on non-VTL flights must meet the entry requirements for Singapore, and will have to serve quarantine.

Scoot becomes new operator of A321neo

 

Singapore, 28 June 2021 – Scoot, the low cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has become a new operator of the A321neo, following the arrival in Singapore of its first three aircraft. All three aircraft are leased from BOC Aviation.

Scoot’s A321neo aircraft are powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines and seat 236 passengers in a single class layout. The aircraft cabin is based on the Airbus Cabin Flex option which enables optimal use of space. Scoot will operate the A321neo on routes of up to six hours from Singapore.

The A321neo is a member of the A320neo Family, of which Scoot has ordered a total of 39 aircraft from Airbus (including six A321neos) and is acquiring another 10 A321neos under lease agreements.

All of Scoot’s A320neo Family aircraft will be supported by Airbus Services under a Flight Hour Services Tailored Support Package covering component availability and repair, as well as fleet technical management.

The A320neo Family incorporates the latest technologies, including new generation engines and Sharklets, delivering a 20 per cent reduction in fuel consumption per seat.

At the end of May 2021, the A320neo Family had won 7,400 firm orders from over 120 customers worldwide.

Scoot to operate cargo charters for Singapore Airlines

Scoot (TR, Singapore Changi) will deploy its passenger-configured B787-9s on cargo charters between Singapore Changi and destinations in China on behalf of its parent Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi), the airline confirmed to Air Cargo News.

Singapore Airlines Group will become the second operator after Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong Int'l) to use its passenger aircraft's bellyhold capacity to run cargo-only flights to China. The shortage of said capacity as a result of the termination of most passenger services has significantly affected the overall volume of available cargo space available on flights to and from China.

Scoot said it would operate cargo charters to Guangzhou and Nanjing during March 2020, despite all of its passenger services to China having been suspended through April 25, 2020.

The airline underlined that special precautions would be taken with no crew members staying in China. Ground handling agents will be wearing protective suits, and the aircraft will be thoroughly disinfected after returning to Singapore.

While most of its passenger services to China remain suspended, Singapore Airlines itself operates scheduled cargo flights to Shanghai Pudong. It also continues to operate daily passenger flights to Beijing Capital and Shanghai, as well as 3x weekly flights to Guangzhou, the ch-aviation schedules module shows.

Scoot, its low-cost carrier, does not operate any freighters.
Cathay Pacific recently started using A330-300s operated by Cathay Dragon to run cargo services between Hong Kong Int'l and mainland China. It is also considering employing similar measures to Japan.

Scoot takes delivery of its first A320neo

Scoot, the low cost wing of Singapore Airlines, has taken delivery of its first A320neo in Toulouse, France.

Scoot has placed orders for 39 A320neo aircraft under its fleet renewal programme. The new addition complements the airline’s existing fleet of 27 A320ceo Family aircraft.

Featuring the widest single aisle cabin in the sky, the A320neo Family incorporates the very latest technologies including new generation engines and Sharklets, which together deliver at least 15 percent fuel savings at delivery and 20 percent by 2020. With more than 6,100 orders received from over 100 customers, the A320neo Family has captured nearly 60 percent share of the market.

Scoot plans Berlin launch in June 2018

Scoot this week filed flight information regarding its planned Singapore – Berlin Tegel route, announced by the airline in early-December 2017. Subject to Government Approval, Scoot’s Boeing 787-8 aircraft will be operating this route 4 times a week, from 20JUN18.
