FLEET / ORDER - Aerolíneas Argentinas orders 20 aircraft.

The plan includes 6 Airbus A330neo, 8 Boeing 737 MAX 10, and 6 Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets.

The first aircraft to arrive will be a Boeing 737 MAX 8, expected in the first quarter of 2027. Airbus A330neo deliveries begin in the first half of 2028 and continue through 2029 and 2030.

FLEET - Aerolineas Argentinas expects the first of around six B737-10 aircraft to arrive via lease in 2027.

The first A330neo is not expected until the around 2030, with interim A330s be used in the meantime. The E190 fleet will be maintained.

FLEET - Aerolíneas Argentinas to lease new aircraft

Aerolíneas Argentinas will lease new aircraft to renew and expand its fleet. The airline is also investing in the refurbishment of the cabins of part of its current fleet.

According to the airline's press-release, it will lease eighteen aircraft, consisting of four Airbus A330-900s, two Boeing B737-8s, four B737-9s, and eight B737-10s. No delivery timelines have been communicated.

The plans are possible now that Aerolíneas Argentinas has became profitable again last year after years of posting losses.

Today, the airline's fleet is made-up of ten A330-200s, four B737-700s, two B737-800SFs, 28 B737-800s, fourteen B737-8s, and 24 Embraer ERJ190s.

Nine are now expected between 2027 and 2028 due to delays. The carrier aims to close 2024 with a total of 13 B737 MAX, due to lease agreements outside of the order.

The carrier is also seeking to renew its E190 fleet with the E195-E2. In 2023, three more B787-8s will arrive along with two leased B737-800Fs. Lastly, the carrier is comparing the B737-9 vs the A321neo.

Boeing, Aerolíneas Argentinas Celebrate Delivery of Airline's First 737 MAX

Buenos Aires-based airline is the first Latin American carrier to fly the new 737 MAX

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, Dec. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Aerolíneas Argentinas today celebrated the delivery and commercial debut of the first 737 MAX airplane for the airline and for Latin America.

Aerolíneas took delivery of the airplane, a MAX 8, in late November and flew the first commercial flight about a week later from Buenos Aires to Mendoza, becoming the first in the region to operate the new and improved 737 airplane.

"Adding the 737 MAX to our fleet is yet one more example of the growth we are envisioning for our company," said Mario Dell´ Acqua, President of Aerolíneas Argentinas. "We feel both proud and responsible to continue working to deliver enhanced connectivity and an elevated experience to our passengers."

Aerolíneas Argentinas is experiencing strong growth, with a 15 percent increase in passenger traffic in the past year, and a 22 percent increase since 2015. To support that growth, the airline plans to take delivery of 12 MAX airplanes and use them on flights regionally and, later in 2018, to the Caribbean.

The 737 MAX is the fastest selling airplane in Boeing history, surpassing 4,000 total orders to date. The Aerolíneas Argentinas MAX 8 is configured for 170 passengers and fly 3,515 nautical miles (6,510 kilometers).

Aerolíneas Argentinas set to receive Latin America’s first 737 MAX 8

CEO Mario Dell’Acqua said Aerolíneas Argentinas will take delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 Nov. 29. The aircraft will make its first commercial flight Dec. 1.

“It is a great honor to be the first Latin American airline to fly the MAX,” Dell’Acqua told ATW on the sidelines of the ALTA Airline Leaders Forum in Buenos Aires Nov. 20. “Having the MAX will allow us not only to improve our costs but also to potentially serve routes to the Caribbean with the MAX that we now serve with widebody aircraft, due to its improved autonomy.”

Buenos Aires-based Aerolíneas will receive an additional MAX 8 in December. Three more will be delivered in 2018 and a total of 12 will arrive by 2020, Dell’Acqua said. The airline intends to continue operating its 737-800s.

According to the airline’s fleet plan, Aerolíneas will end 2017 with 12 Airbus widebody A330/A340 aircraft, 41 Boeing 737 aircraft, including 39 737NGs and two new 737 MAX 8s, as well as 26 Embraer E190s that operate on Aerolíneas’ regional subsidiary Austral.

Argentina’s flagship carrier, Aerolineas Argentinas, has taken delivery of their first new, directly purchased Airbus A330-200 aircraft as a part of the carrier’s fleet renewal strategy. The aircraft, equipped with GE engines, joins the airline’s existing fleet of 11 Airbus widebody aircraft, comprising four A330-200s and seven A340s.

“The addition of this new A330-200 to our wide body family will enable Aerolineas Argentinas, to redefine its long-haul network and enhance its international service offering,” said Dr. Mariano Recalde, President of Aerolineas Argentinas. “This new A330 not only shares commonality with our existing A330 and A340 airliners, it also offers exceptional operational flexibility with the right range and lowest costs. Aerolineas Argentinas will deploy its new A330 on starting on long haul routes from their Buenos Aires hub to Miami and New York City, and then Madrid in July 2015.

Aerolíneas Argentinas has been an Airbus operator since 1994 when the airline began flying the A310-300. In February 2013, Argentina’s national airline announced their order for four Airbus A330-200s to renew and consolidate its widebody fleet.

The A330 Family includes Freighter, VIP, and Military Transport/Tanker variants, has now attracted more than 1,400 orders. Over 1,100 A330 Family aircraft are flying with more than 100 operators worldwide. The A330 is one of the world’s most efficient aircraft with best in class operating economics.
