JetBlue Airways commenced its latest international route from Boston (BOS) on 10 November, beginning a weekly (Saturdays) service to Havana (HAV), with this service joining the carrier’s existing routes to the Cuban capital from Fort Lauderdale, New York JFK and Orlando.

“This flight is an example of the potentials the Cuban market has to offer. But it is an example, also, of the friendship between the peoples of Cuba and the US, which can open the gateways to companies, institutions and sectors of the US willing to maintain a different kind of bilateral relationship with Cuba,” commented Omar Goslin Collymore, Director Terminal 3, Havana Airport. The carrier will operate the 2,396-kilometre sector between Boston and Havana using its fleet of A320s, with no other airline presently linking the two cities with non-stop flights. According to OAG Traffic Analyser data, over 6,000 people travelled indirectly between Havana and Boston in 2017, with this new direct flight option likely to stimulate new demand between the cities.
