Fiji Airways to start B737 MAX ops in late 4Q18
Fiji Airways (FJ, Nadi) has announced it will begin commercial B737-8 operations in December this year, shortly after the arrival of its first of the type.
According to an airport statement, the MAX's inaugural service will be Nadi-Adelaide, Australia.
“The first of five B737 MAX 8s is due to arrive in November, with all five of the type on order expected to be delivered by the end of 2019," it said. “The first commercial flight destination for the MAX 8 is Adelaide, Australia which will take place in December."
As previously reported, Fiji Airways is looking to add a further three MAX 8s to its fleet beyond the five currently due from Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare). The type's improved efficiency and operational range will also negate certain operating restrictions that currently affect its fleet of B737-700s and -800s both at home in Nadi and across the South Pacific.
