Thai Airways International is in talks with Airbus and Boeing over proposed replacements for up to thirty older aircraft the carrier's chairman Areepong Bhoocha-Oom has said.
Speaking to Bloomberg, Areepong said the carrier will seek Cabinet approval for the procurement plan by the end of July. While Thai's fleet of ten B747-400s will be phased out in the coming years, its six A380-800s, which average just over four years of age, will "remain a significant part of the company's fleet".
According to the ch-aviation aircraft database, of the numerous types Thai operates, the oldest include its fleet of six B777-200s (20.5 years of age), six B777-200(ER)s (10.3 years of age), and six B777-300s (17.7 years of age).
