Berjaya Air Takes Delivery of World’s First Aircraft in ATR HighLine Configuration

Malaysian airline welcomes its first ATR 72-600 featuring All Business Class cabin

Kuala Lumpur – The world’s first ATR 72-600 featuring the ATR HighLine “All-Business Class” configuration touched down in Kuala Lumpur, marking a major milestone for regional aviation. ATR’s new cabin concept received certification from both EASA and the Malaysian authorities earlier this month, confirming its readiness for commercial operations worldwide.

The delivery represents a dual first for Berjaya Air; the airline’s inaugural ATR 72-600 and the launch platform for ATR’s new premium cabin collection. It also heralds a new era in regional travel, combining semi-private flying comfort with the proven efficiency of turboprop operations.

The aircraft features a fully bespoke, all–business class cabin, accommodating 26 seats in a spacious and unique 1-by-1 layout, ensuring every guest benefits from direct aisle access and direct view to multiple windows. The handcrafted ETEREA seats by Geven – the widest ever installed on the ATR platform – offer generous living space and a refined personal side console with integrated stowage.

One of the cabin’s most distinctive elements is the executive‑style ceiling, where overhead bins have been replaced by sleek valence panels. This design opens up the cabin, floods the interior with natural light, and creates a volume comparable to that of the world’s largest private aircraft – all on board the most fuel-efficient regional aircraft.

Berjaya Air will begin operating the aircraft in the coming days, launching its first flight on a new route between Subang and Koh Samui. It will then roll out its “affordable luxury” experience on its newly expanded regional network, with direct connections throughout Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, and a focus on serving Berjaya Group’s portfolio of hotels and resorts. Travellers will benefit from a seamless experience that offer a high touch of hospitality to island destinations such as Redang and Langkawi. The new aircraft in ATR HighLine All-Business Class configuration will also be available for charter operations across the Asia-Pacific region.

Syed Ali Shahul Hameed, Group CEO of Berjaya Property Berhald, said: “Taking delivery of the world’s first ATR 72-600 in ATR HighLine configuration marks an important step in Berjaya Air’s transformation journey. This new cabin experience enables us to offer guests a seamless and refined journey to some of the region’s most sought-after destinations, while maintaining our strong commitment to operational efficiency and service excellence. Whether serving resort destinations or charter operations across the region, the ATR HighLine cabin allows us to deliver an end-to-end premium travel experience that reflects Berjaya’s hospitality heritage and long-term vision.”

ATR Chief Executive Officer Nathalie Tarnaud Laude added:
“This milestone demonstrates how the ATR family continues to evolve to meet new market expectations. The ATR HighLine cabin collection opens new possibilities for operators seeking exceptional onboard comfort while leveraging all the efficiency and operational benefits of the aircraft. Together with Berjaya Air, we are demonstrating the inherent versatility of the ATR platform, capable of adapting to a wide range of operator needs without compromising its core strengths.”

Berjaya Air will take delivery of a second factory-new ATR 72-600 in the same “All-Business Class” configuration in the third quarter of this year.

ORDER - SUM Air Orders Up to Eight ATR 72-600s

Newly established Korean carrier strengthens partnership with ATR to support sustainable, essential air services across the region

Seoul, 3 April 2026 – ATR, the world’s leading regional aircraft manufacturer, today announced that SUM Air, Korea’s newest regional airline, has placed an order for four brand‑new ATR 72‑600 aircraft, along with four additional purchase rights, with deliveries scheduled from 2028. The agreement was signed on the occasion of the France–Korea bilateral economic forum held in Seoul, attended by the French President, marking a significant milestone for the airline, which began its commercial operations in March 2026 with a new leased ATR 72-600 from Avation.

Founded in 2022, SUM Air aims to reconnect Korea’s most underserved regions – including future island airports and short-haul routes to neighbouring countries like Japan and China – with reliable, responsible and affordable air mobility. The airline received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) on 10 March 2026, following more than three years of preparation, personnel training, safety validation and aircraft integration.

This new order represents the next step in SUM Air’s long-term vision, ensuring the airline can gradually expand its domestic and international network while supporting Korea’s ambition to enhance regional mobility.

Yongduck Choi, Chief Executive Officer of SUM Air, said: “Sum Air, a regional air mobility airline, aims to strengthen regional connectivity across Korea and serve as a key part of the aviation infrastructure supporting regional revitalization through its partnership with ATR, a world-leading manufacturer of regional aircraft. Starting with the Gimpo–Sacheon route, we will build a spoke network linking inland and island airports. The aircraft acquired through this agreement will be deployed to operate routes to island airports such as Ulleungdo, Baengnyeongdo, and Heuksando. The ATR 72-600, optimized for short-haul operations, will play a pivotal role in enabling Sum Air to deliver air services that connect islands and regions across Korea.”

Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, Chief Executive Officer of ATR, added: “The ATR 72‑600 is designed exactly for the type of regional connectivity SUM Air aims to develop. Its short‑runway performance will allow SUM Air to access island airports where jets cannot operate, and its fuel efficiency and cost effectiveness make routes viable that would otherwise not be sustainable. With this aircraft, SUM Air can reliably serve communities across Korea, from east to west and from the mainland to future island airports, while keeping operations economical and environmentally responsible.”

ATR has long identified Korea as a market with significant untapped potential for regional aviation, forecasting a fleet of 25–30 ATR 72 aircraft in the country within the coming years. SUM Air’s decision reinforces this outlook and reflects growing confidence in ATR’s state-of-the-art turboprop technology as the right solution for Korea’s geography and route structure.

ORDER - Abelo Confirms Three Additional ATR 72-600 Options

Leading turboprop lessor Abelo has confirmed three additional ATR 72-600 options from the agreement signed at the Dubai Airshow in 2023. This milestone further strengthens Abelo’s commitment to modern, efficient regional aviation and reinforces the strong partnership between Abelo and ATR.

With these three additional options now exercised, Abelo has ordered 36 firm aircraft to this day, and still holds nine options and purchase rights. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027, expanding Abelo’s skyline and supporting its mission to provide sustainable, cost-effective connectivity.

Abelo has been very successful with its orderbook, with a third of all firm commitments being either placed or delivered, with an increased global footprint with airlines like SKY Express, Aegean (Greece), and SATENA (Colombia). Earlier this year, Abelo also supplied Ethiopian Airlines with two brand-new ATR turboprops.

A First Leg Toward Sustainability: Mandarin Airlines Chooses SAF

Regional airlines are increasingly looking for practical solutions to reduce their environmental impact and ATR is committed to meeting their expectations, in particular by offering a SAF option for the first leg of their ferry flight.

Last week, Mandarin Airlines reached an important milestone in its partnership with ATR by completing the ferry flight of its ATR 72-600 using a blend of 30% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on the first leg of the journey between Toulouse and Taipei. This newly delivered ATR 72-600 will join a fleet of 11 aircraft to provide essential connectivity across Taiwan, mainly from Taipei Songshan Airport. This initiative embodies the increasing commitment of the airline to more sustainable operations in its region.

This flight forms part of ATR’s broader efforts to drive the entire regional aviation sector towards ever-lower emissions levels. While the ATR 72-600 equipped with PW127XT engines is already highly efficient and certified to operate with up to 50% SAF, ATR is also multiplying initiatives to accelerate SAF adoption, working closely with industrial partners, lessors and airlines worldwide:

For several years, ATR has been collaborating with Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA) and Neste to accelerate 100% SAF compatibility across the ATR family. This partnership has already enabled a historic world-first flight in 2022, operated with 100% SAF in both engines of an ATR 72‑600. This landmark flight proved that the use of neat SAF can reduce up to 80% of CO₂ emissions across the full fuel lifecycle.

Regional airlines are increasingly adopting SAF options whenever possible. NAC had already opted for SAF blends back in 2023, saving tonnes of CO2. In 2021, Hokkaido Air System (HAC) had pioneered SAF use in Asia on the first leg of a ferry flight with an ATR 42‑600.

These successive milestones, underpinned by our long-standing 100% SAF capability target by 2030, are further reinforced by our participation in programmes such as Clean Aviation. They demonstrate that integrating SAF into regional aviation is not a futuristic concept, but a transformation that is already underway.

FLEET - Avation Orders Five Additional ATR 72-600s

Singapore-based lessor reinforces long-term partnership with ATR, reaching 54 net firm aircraft ordered to date

Toulouse, 16 March 2026 – ATR, the world’s leading regional aircraft manufacturer, today announced that Singapore-based lessor Avation (LON:AVAP) has exercised purchase rights for five ATR 72‑600 aircraft under its long-term framework agreement signed in 2011. Deliveries are scheduled for 2028 and 2029.

This latest commitment covers the 50th to 54th ATR aircraft ordered by Avation since the start of its cooperation with ATR 15 years ago. Over that time, the partnership has steadily expanded and matured, supporting Avation in building a significant turboprop portfolio that today includes 27 ATRs placed with operators across the world. In the past six months alone, the lessor has placed ATR aircraft with three new operators.

Jeff Chatfield, Executive Chairman of Avation, said: “These aircraft expand Avation’s existing order book through the conversion of five purchase rights into firm orders. The ATR 72‑600 is widely recognised as the most fuel-efficient regional aircraft, offering the lowest seat‑mile cost in regional aviation and significantly lower operating costs than comparable aircraft. It is the ideal platform for regional route operations, and development and replacement of older, less efficient equipment. By committing to five additional ATR 72‑600 aircraft, Avation continues to build out its growth pathway for the late‑2020s and beyond, increasing its future fleet availability for key airline customers in high‑growth regional markets. Industry forecasts and independent analysts expect demand for more than 2,000 new turboprops over the next two decades to support both replacement and growth needs worldwide.”

Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, Chief Executive Officer of ATR, added: “Avation’s renewed confidence is especially meaningful because lessors play a pivotal role in expanding the ATR community. Many airlines first experience the performance and economics of our aircraft through leasing, and in countless cases this has led them to later invest in their own fleet of brand‑new ATRs. By exercising these purchase rights, Avation reinforces a partnership that actively drives market growth while helping us deliver responsible, reliable connectivity to communities worldwide.”

ORDER - NEW AIRLINE - AirBorneo Chooses ATR to Modernise Rural Air Service Fleet in East Malaysia

AirBorneo and ATR today announced a strategic partnership to modernise Malaysia’s Rural Air Services (RAS) fleet, with AirBorneo confirming a firm order for eight ATR aircraft. The agreement comprises five ATR 72-600s and three ATR 42-600s, with purchase rights for four additional aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2029.

This marks a significant milestone in AirBorneo’s transformation into Sarawak’s state-owned airline and its assumption of responsibility for the RAS network, a vital public service that connects remote and underserved communities across Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan.

Finalised in late 2025, the order supports AirBorneo’s long-term fleet renewal strategy following the acquisition of MASwings by the Sarawak government in 2025 and its subsequent rebranding as AirBorneo. The airline currently operates eight ATR 72-500 aircraft inherited from MASwings. The new-generation ATR –600 series will form the backbone of a more efficient and more resilient RAS operation for East Malaysia.

The introduction of the ATR 42-600 and ATR 72-600 aircraft will enable AirBorneo to enhance passenger experience, operational reliability and service capability. The aircraft feature advanced avionics, modern navigation technologies and improved cabin comfort. They are also equipped to support medical stretcher operations and are optimised for reliable operations across diverse regional and rural route environments in Borneo.

The mixed fleet gives AirBorneo greater flexibility to right-size capacity across diverse route profiles, while benefiting from the strong commonality of the ATR family. The agreement also includes four purchase rights, providing future growth options beyond the RAS network, including potential regional expansion within the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area.

“This partnership with ATR marks a major milestone in AirBorneo’s commitment to delivering reliable, safe and modern air services for the communities we serve,” said Megat Ardian, Chief Executive Officer of AirBorneo. “Our new ATR –600 fleet will significantly strengthen the Rural Air Services network by offering improved comfort, greater efficiency and the operational capability required for regional connectivity in East Malaysia. The ATR platform has consistently proven to be the most suitable aircraft for our operating environment, and upgrading to the latest –600 series ensures we can continue providing essential connectivity while preparing AirBorneo for long-term growth.”

“AirBorneo’s decision to invest in both the ATR 72-600 and ATR 42-600 reflects the strength and versatility of the ATR family and its suitability for demanding regional operations,” said Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, Chief Executive Officer of ATR. “The ATR 42-600, with its exceptional efficiency and low operating costs, is ideally suited for serving lower-density regional routes, while the ATR 72-600 provides additional capacity where it is needed. We are proud to partner with AirBorneo in strengthening reliable air connectivity across Borneo and the wider region.”

FLEET - JSX Starts ATR Public Charter Operations

A new era for regional travel in the United States, combining premium comfort with responsible innovation

Santa Monica, 13 January 2026 – ATR, the world’s leading manufacturer of regional aircraft, and JSX, the United States’ leading public charter air carrier, celebrated yesterday a milestone in their partnership with a special ceremony at Santa Monica Airport, showcasing JSX’s first ATR 42-600 aircraft.

JSX, winner of the “5-Star Regional Airline” award from the Airline Passenger Experience Association for five years in a row, began operating its first ATR 42-600 in December on the Santa Monica–Las Vegas route, marking an early milestone in its fleet expansion. Building on this success, yesterday’s event celebrated the next step in this journey: JSX will operate four ATR 42-600s in early 2026, each featuring a premium 30-seat configuration. Designed to deliver the convenience of semi-private travel with the efficiency of regional aviation, these aircraft will offer spacious interiors, business-class legroom, high-speed internet connectivity (pending certification), power outlets, and complimentary onboard amenities, redefining the customer experience in the U.S. regional market.

“JSX is proud to partner with ATR to relaunch this highly capable aircraft in the United States passenger market,” said Alex Wilcox, JSX Chief Executive Officer. “The ATR 42-600 is a game-changer for JSX, enabling us to expand our award-winning hop on service to thousands more airports across the U.S. while maintaining the premium experience our Customers expect.”

Nathalie Tarnaud-Laude, ATR Chief Executive Officer, added: “Introducing ATR aircraft into JSX’s unique operating model is a powerful statement that our aircraft offering can elevate regional travels. And the ATR is not only relevant for today’s passenger expectations; it is future-ready. Together with JSX, we are defining the next generation of regional passenger experience. Convenience is at the heart of this model, perfectly aligned with JSX’s promise of a Joyful, Simple Experience: effortless boarding and arrivals closer to home, thanks to an aircraft that can access more airports.”

The ATR 42‑600 stands out as a modern regional aircraft, combining advanced technology with exceptional performance. Equipped with state-of-the-art engines from RTX’s Pratt & Whitney Canada, it delivers outstanding fuel efficiency, reducing operating costs significantly. With its modern glass cockpit, ATR aircraft can also operate the latest navigation procedures improving airport accessibility, lowering pilots workload, further reducing fuel burn.

The JSX and ATR partnership began on a high note at the 2025 Paris Air Show, where the two companies signed a Letter of Intent for up to 25 ATR aircraft in ATR HighLine configuration. This collaboration is now paving the way for the growth of ATR’s footprint in the U.S., with the air carrier planning to expand its ATR fleet, and the manufacturer continuing to support JSX’s vision for smarter, more responsible connectivity. Both companies share a commitment to innovation and sustainability, ensuring that regional aviation in the United States evolves to meet the needs of travellers and communities alike.

Beyond this partnership, ATR sees strong potential in the U.S. market, where the retirement of ageing 50-seat regional jets is creating a connectivity gap that turboprops are uniquely positioned to fill, offering airlines an efficient, responsible solution for communities across the U.S.

To enable JSX’s long-term strategy of reaching underserved, challenging airports across the Mountain West, ATR recently secured FAA approval for a critical modification that allows operations at high-altitude airports. It ensures JSX can expand its network to challenging airports, reinforcing the strategic importance of this partnership.

This versatile portfolio offers configurations ranging from dual-class to VIP arrangements, designed to meet the unique needs of boutique airlines, corporate departments, semi-private services, luxury resorts and government fleets.

Emitting 45% less CO2 per trip than similar-sized jets, ATR HighLine-equipped aircraft are set to disrupt and elevate the regional market without compromising on environmental responsibility, making them a compelling choice for operators targeting high-end markets.

FLEET / ORDER - FLYGABON Receives First ATR 42-600, Becomes Africa’s Youngest Fleet

Gabonese airline also confirms second ATR 42-600 to be delivered late 2026
Toulouse, 4 August 2025 – Afrijet Business Service, operating as FLYGABON, the leading airline in Central Africa, has taken delivery of its first brand-new ATR 42-600, becoming the operator of the youngest ATR fleet on the continent. This aircraft enables Afrijet Business Service to complete the transition to an all-ATR -600 fleet, replacing its previous-generation ATR 42-500.
In parallel, the airline has also confirmed its purchase of a second ATR 42-600, scheduled for delivery in 2026. Both aircraft will join FLYGABON’s fleet, which includes five ATR 72-600s.
With a growing network of 17 regular destinations, Afrijet Business Service/FLYGABON is reinforcing its role as a key player in domestic and regional connectivity. From its hub in Libreville, the airline connects four provinces across Gabon – with the aim to connect six by the end of the year – and nearby main regional cities in Cameroon, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Benin, Sao Tomé & Principe and South Africa.

The ATR 42 is particularly valued for offering the lowest cost per trip on the market, thanks to its exceptionally low operating costs – making it the ideal aircraft to launch and test new routes with minimal financial risk. Combined with its outstanding performance in demanding conditions, especially warm climates, the ATR 42 provides operators with an unbeatable balance of resilience and efficiency. It also often serves as the entry point to regional aviation, with the ATR 72 offering scalable growth, and the overall family concept providing our operators with the flexibility to adapt and thrive.
Nyl Moret-Mba, Managing Director of Afrijet Business Service/FLYGABON, commented: “The arrival of our first ATR 42-600 marks the latest milestone in our ATR fleet modernisation strategy and our commitment to delivering an elevated and more reliable travel experience to our passengers. Both the aircraft ordered in 2024 and the additional one will fly under the FLYGABON livery – the national flag carrier launched last year to support the Gabonese government’s vision for stronger regional connectivity and inclusive economic development across the country.”
Alexis Vidal, ATR’s Senior Vice President Commercial added: “Afrijet Business Service/FLYGABON’s continued investment in ATR aircraft demonstrates the transformative power of regional connectivity. By linking communities across Gabon and Central Africa, the airline is not just expanding its network, it’s opening doors to new opportunities for people and local economies.

With a flexible fleet that combines the ATR 42 and the ATR 72, Afrijet Business Service/FLYGABON is uniquely positioned to match capacity to demand while maintaining the efficiency, reliability, and affordability that are essential in regional aviation. It’s a very smart strategy, that responds to market demands and specificities.”

Our market forecast anticipates significant opportunities in the African turboprop market as despite strong demand, 40% of key African city pairs lack direct air links and 60% of potential intra-African routes would be best served by 70-seater or smaller aircraft.

ORDER - Air Algérie Places Major Order for 16 New ATR 72-600s

Largest Customer in Africa Chooses ATR Again to Foster Regional Connectivity

Algiers, 4 July 2025 – ATR, the world’s leading regional aircraft manufacturer, is proud to announce a major order from its long-standing partner Air Algérie for 16 brand new ATR 72-600 aircraft, reaffirming a trusted relationship that spans over two decades. This strategic acquisition also includes an ATR 72-600 full-flight simulator – the first of its kind in Africa – marking a significant milestone in regional aviation training on the continent.

Air Algérie, ATR’s largest customer in Africa, has been operating ATR aircraft since 2003, with previous acquisitions in 2008 and 2014 and currently operates 12 ATR 72-500s and 3 ATR 72-600s. As the airline gradually commits to reducing its carbon footprint, this new order highlights Air Algérie’s continued confidence in ATR’s efficient aircraft and proven technology.

Deliveries of the new aircraft are scheduled between 2026 and 2028. Equipped with latest generation PW127XT engines, the 72-seats ATR 72-600s will be operated by a newly created regional subsidiary of Air Algérie – Domestic Airlines. It will be focused on enhancing connectivity across the nation, especially in the southern regions of the country – areas where air travel is essential for economic and social growth. This further sets ATR as the leader of regional connections and a powerful asset to bring people, businesses, and communities together.

Hamza Benhamouda, Chief Executive Officer of Air Algérie, commented: “The ATR 72-600 is the right aircraft to help us connect all regions of our country and support national development through reliable and efficient air transport. Its performance on short and thin routes makes it an essential part of our strategy while its fuel efficiency also supports our goal of reducing emissions and building more sustainable operations. By investing in this new fleet and the first ATR 72-600 simulator in Africa, we are also reinforcing our commitment to regional connectivity, operational excellence, and the future of regional aviation in Algeria.”

Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, Chief Executive Officer of ATR, added: “This order is a powerful endorsement of the ATR 72-600’s capabilities and the value it brings to foster regional connectivity. With its exceptionally low operating costs, fuel efficiency, and ability to perform reliably in diverse and demanding environments like the Algerian climate, the ATR 72-600 is uniquely suited for low-density routes and remote regions. These advantages are precisely why Air Algérie continues to place its trust in ATR after more than 20 years of partnership – our aircraft consistently delivers the performance and adaptability needed to connect communities and support sustainable regional growth.”

In addition to the aircraft, the acquisition of the ATR 72-600 simulator – to be installed in Air Algérie’s existing training centre – will enhance pilot training capabilities and support the airline’s high standards in operational safety and maintenance excellence.

This order – the largest one from an African operator in ATR history – highlights the long-standing partnership between the manufacturer and Air Algérie in shaping the future of aviation on the continent. ATR stands alongside Air Algérie as they launch their new subsidiary – not only as the ideal manufacturer for an efficient and low-emission regional aircraft, but also as a trusted partner supporting this important new chapter in their development.

ORDER - UNI Air Signs Order For 19 ATR 72-600s

Largest Order since 2017 Reaffirms ATR’s Leadership in Regional Aviation

Toulouse, 10 June 2025 – ATR, the world’s leading manufacturer of regional aircraft, proudly announces that UNI Air, a group company of EVA Air, has placed a firm order for 19 ATR 72-600s, along with three additional purchase rights. This marks the largest ATR order since 2017, and the second direct order from UNI Air since 2011, when the Taiwanese airline purchased 10 ATR 72-600s. It serves as a clear testament of UNI Air’s and affiliated company EVA Air’s trust in ATR turboprops to serve the Taiwanese domestic market efficiently. Deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2032.

These 19 brand-new aircraft will replace and expand UNI Air’s current fleet of 14 ATR 72-600s, marking a significant step in the airline’s modernisation and growth. Equipped with new generation PW127XT engines, an updated cabin design, and a New Air Management System, these latest-generation aircraft will strengthen UNI Air’s operations and competitive positioning, through improved fuel efficiency, lower maintenance costs, enhanced reliability and upgraded passenger experience.

Operating primarily from Taipei Songshan Airport, UNI Air plays a vital role for locals, tourists and businesses alike, by providing reliable essential air connectivity to 11 destinations, including the islands of Kinmen, Penghu and Matsu using ATR turboprops. Beyond serving these direct routes, UNI Air also contributes to a broader regional mobility network, seamlessly linking communities, feeding into larger domestic and international hubs, and strengthening Taiwan’s integrated transport ecosystem, ensuring efficient and low-emission connectivity for all travellers.

Mr. Solomon Lin, Chairman of UNI Air expressed his enthusiasm: “This marks a major step in UNI Air’s strategy to enhance domestic air services, playing a vital role in boosting Taiwan’s dynamism at local, national and regional levels. With this new order, we are reinforcing our commitment to ensuring a young and modern fleet to serve the domestic market efficiently, offering passengers the highest standards of comfort and reliability. ATR aircraft, renowned for their unbeatable economics, fuel efficiency, versatility and airport accessibility, have consistently proven to be the optimal platform for regional connectivity. As we continue to grow our operations, ATR remains our preferred partner, playing a key role in sustaining and strengthening Taiwan’s air network.”

Nathalie Tarnaud-Laude, Chief Executive Officer at ATR, thanked UNI Air for their continued trust, and added: “UNI Air makes a meaningful difference for the communities it serves, providing them with the frequency, reliability, and connectivity they need. We are delighted to renew our strategic partnership, supporting them in their expansion plans. UNI Air’s confidence in ATR is the strongest testament to the essential role our aircraft play in shaping efficient and sustainable regional aviation networks. This new order is a powerful affirmation of our mission: building aircraft that bring communities closer together.”

This significant order reaffirms ATR’s role as the preferred choice for airlines seeking modern, efficient, and low-emission regional aircraft while further strengthening UNI Air’s position as a regional aviation leader. Along with ATR’s strong wave of recorded sales in 2024, it highlights the renewed momentum in regional aviation. Asia-Pacific remains the most dynamic market for ATR, where our aircraft are ideally suited to the region’s diverse landscapes and evolving demographic needs, supporting efficient and sustainable connectivity.

ATR Reinforces Partnership with Braathens to Support Long Term Wet Leasing Activity

Swedish airline renews ATR Global Maintenance Agreement and opts for innovative flight crew training support

Toulouse, 15 May 2025 – ATR and Braathens Regional Airlines (Braathens) successfully renewed their Global Maintenance Agreement (GMA) for five years. The extension of this comprehensive support package reflects the continued trust that the Swedish operator places in ATR’s unmatched expertise in regional aviation services.

The GMA renewal ensures ongoing support for Braathens ATR fleet, including access to a large pool of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), repair and landing gears overhaul services. This decision underscores ATR’s proven track record in reliability, cost-efficiency, and responsiveness—factors that are vital to the operational success of airlines in today’s competitive landscape.

Beyond maintenance services, ATR is also providing tailored training solutions for Braathens flight crews by connecting flight schools’ students with operators looking for motivated young pilots. After a thorough selection, the cadets are now entering a type rating course with the ATR Training Centre before joining Braathens as junior first officers. To support the cadets’ induction, ATR Flight Instructors will provide line training assistance. This collaboration will help Braathens fulfil its need for regional pilots while maintaining high safety and efficiency standards.

This renewed partnership highlights the strategic role ATR plays not only as an aircraft manufacturer but also as a long-term partner in operational success. Braathens, which previously offered scheduled and charter services alongside wet leasing, has changed its corporate strategy to focus solely on providing flight capacity to other airlines, like SAS and Austrian Airlines, operating flights on their behalf.

To support this strategic move, Braathens’ ATR fleet will also go from 14 aircraft to 17 by the end of the year, with one of the three ATR 72-600 to be delivered brand new from the ATR final assembly line.

“In further strengthening our partnership with ATR, we are reaffirming our confidence in their ability to deliver the consistent, high-quality support our wet-lease operations require,” said Jimmie Bergqvist, deputy Chief Executive Officer of Braathens. “This agreement is not just about parts, logistics and training—it’s about a shared commitment to reliability, safety, and sustainability in regional air transport.”

Stefano Marazzani, ATR’s SVP Customer Support and Services, commented: “Our continued collaboration with Braathens is a testament to the strength of our support and services offering and the confidence our customers place in us. With personalised care, we are able to support our clients’ interests, tailoring our solutions to the needs of their operational environments and business models, beyond typical OEM offers and responsibilities. We are proud to support Braathens in providing essential connectivity for major airlines across Europe, complementing their capacity efficiently and sustainably. We will continue standing by their side, through successes and challenges.”
This collaboration follows a long history between ATR and Braathens, including the successful first ever 100% SAF-powered test flight on a commercial aircraft in June 2022.

The reinforcement of our partnership is yet another token of ATR’s willingness to build mutually beneficial relationships with its customers, broadening the spectrum of what a manufacturer can provide to an airline, and inventing together a sustainable way of thinking regional connections.

ORDER - ATR Announces New Order of ATR 72-600F

World’s largest express transportation provider adds 10 ATR 72-600F to its feeder fleet

Toulouse, 21 March 2025 – ATR, the leading manufacturer of regional aircraft worldwide, today announced a major contract with FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), the world’s largest express transportation provider, for the acquisition of 10 ATR 72-600F. This order adds to a previous commitment of 30 aircraft, and deliveries are scheduled between 2027 and 2029.

The only in-production regional freighter on the market, the ATR 72-600F incorporates the latest technology featured in the ATR –600 series while being specifically designed for cargo operations. A bulk configuration helps in optimising the available volume – up to 75 m3 – thanks to the nine vertical nets, attachment points on the floor and lateral tracks. In addition, with a large cargo door, cargo loading system and wide cross section, the ATR 72-600F can accommodate industry-standard Unit Load Devices (ULDs) and interline with larger freighters.

This purpose-built design, with its 9.2t payload, makes the ATR 72-600F a key asset in FedEx’s fleet, replacing its legacy ATRs, and helping optimise its network capabilities worldwide. Its high versatility allows for seamless operations across multiple countries, logistical frameworks and environments, from the warm climates of Miami, Florida, to the cold temperatures of Anchorage, Alaska. FedEx’s fleet of ATR 72-600F handles critical feeder operations, playing a vital role in the company’s coverage of smaller markets.

“FedEx’s decision to order additional ATR 72-600F underscores their trust in our aircraft’s performance and versatility. Our freighter variant is an essential component of the ATR family, offering significant advantages over traditional passenger-to-freighter conversions, including enhanced reliability and availability, and longer-term planning” added Alexis Vidal, Senior Vice-President Commercial of ATR.

These 10 aircraft are part of the 2024 undisclosed orders ATR released last month.
