Venezuela's Conviasa to acquire A330s, ATR72s says Nicolás Maduro
Conviasa is set to acquire three A330 aircraft and an undisclosed number of ATR72-600s, Venezuela's president, Nicolás Maduro, has told the country's Council of Ministers. Mr Maduro made the announcement after Caracas sent a governmental mission to France to hold talks with both Avions de Transport Régional and Airbus Industrie regarding the acquisition, which could see as many as fifteen of the wide-bodies acquired in line with the country's long term plans for the national carrier. He added that the ATR72 would prove ideal for Caribbean routes and flights to Mérida and would compliment the twenty EMB-190 set to join the airline's fleet over the coming years.
