Jin Air to get first of three B777s in December

Jin Air CEO Ma Won has unveiled his carrier's ambitious longterm growth strategy which will see it almost double its current fleet from 11 aircraft to 20 by the end of 2015.

Speaking during a press conference at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul on Friday last week, Ma said the aircraft will include six B737-800s as well as three B777-200(ER)s to be used in launching the Korean Air subsidiary's first long-haul flights to Europe and the United States.

The first of the widebodies is expected in December with the other two due next year.

Ma said market saturation both at home and regionally had forced his airline to move into the international sector. As a result, Jin Air will add four new routes next year to China, Japan and Malaysia.

Customer Orders up to 24 Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen Aircraft

Bombardier Aerospace announced today that a customer, who has requested to remain unidentified at this time, has placed a firm order for 16 CRJ900 NextGen regional jets and has also taken options for eight additional airliners of the same type.
Based on the list price for the CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, the firm order is valued at approximately $727 million USD. The value could increase to $1.12 billion USD should the customer exercise its options.

“Bombardier’s CRJ900 NextGen airliner was already recognized for the strength and reliability of its performance and as the most cost-efficient jet aircraft in its class,” said Ray Jones, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Asset Management, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. “With the most recent enhancements to the aircraft, we have raised the bar on performance once again, reducing the CRJ900 NextGen airliner’s fuel burn by up to 5.5 per cent compared to earlier-generation CRJ900 aircraft, and making it the ideal tool for operators to develop new markets and increase frequencies.”

Including this latest order, Bombardier has recorded firm orders for 1,833 CRJ Series aircraft, including 359 CRJ900 and CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. Worldwide, CRJ Series aircraft are in service with more than 60 airlines and more than 30 customers operate corporate variants of the aircraft. The aircraft are operating in over 50 countries on six continents, and on average, a CRJ aircraft takes off every 10 seconds somewhere in the world. CRJ Series aircraft have transported more than 1.4 billion passengers and have logged more than 38 million flight hours and over 32 million takeoffs and landings.

Lufthansa Cargo: All eyes on Brazil

The eyes of the whole world are eagerly focused on Brazil at the moment. Excitement is high at Lufthansa Cargo as well, with Europe’s leading cargo airline christening its fourth Boeing 777F (registration D-ALFD) “Olá Brazil”. The brand-new aircraft safely landed at the carrier’s home base Frankfurt on Thursday morning for the very first time.

Lufthansa Cargo is emphasising its commitment to the South American country with this greeting. The cargo airline offers a high number of freighter flights to Brazil and also uses the capacities in the bellies of passenger flights.

By investing in five brand new Boeing 777Fs as part of the “Lufthansa Cargo 2020” future programme, the cargo airline is concentrating on modernisation and innovation. Each of the “Triple Seven” freighters can carry up to 103 tonnes of cargo for more than 9,000 km, equivalent to a non-stop flight from Frankfurt to Shanghai.

“We are delighted with the superb reliability and efficiency of the new 'Triple Seven’ aircraft”, said Dr. Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht, Board Member Operations of Lufthansa Cargo. “The B777F fleet is a world-champion when it comes to punctuality and has been a significant factor in quality enhancements achieved for our customers in recent months.”

The idea to give the aircraft the greeting “Olá Brazil” originated from the winning idea in a creative public competition held by Lufthansa Cargo to find a naming convention for its entire fleet in advance of the arrival of the first B777F in November 2013. From the more than 40,000 potential aircraft names, a jury with the involvement of the full Cargo Board opted for the central theme: “Say hello around the world”. The MD-11 freighters will also be christened with greetings in many country-specific languages over the months ahead

Bingo Airways suspends operations

Bingo Airways has suspended operations following the revocation of its Polish Air Operator's Certificate (AOC), ch-aviation has learned. As it stands, the Polish charter operator has already seen two of its fleet of three A320s - cn 2118, 1723, and 1450 - struck off its AOC by local authorities.

According to Polish aviation news portal, pasazer.com, Bingo Airways CEO, Marek Sidor, says the suspension will allow his carrier time to craft a new business plan which involves the securing of new contracts as well as recapitalization.

Once funding has been sourced, Bingo Airways will then apply to the Polish Civil Aviation Office (Urząd Lotnictwa Cywilnego - ULC) for a reinstatement of its AOC, he said.

The development has serious ramifications for markets in other parts of Europe - in France in particular where Bingo was to have based aircraft during the upcoming summer season.

As previously reported, the carrier was also to have leased two of its A320s - cn 2118 and 1723 - to PIA - Pakistan International Airlines for the month of July and was also to have cooperated with Polish start-up, 4 you Airlines.

Boeing, Belavia Airlines Announce Order for Three Next-Generation 737-800s Airline's first direct purchase of Boeing airplanes

MINSK, Belarus, June 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Belarus flag carrier Belavia Airlines have reached an agreement on an order for three Next-Generation 737-800 airplanes. Valued at $272 million at current list prices, this is the first direct purchase of Boeing airplanes for Belavia.

"We are committed to bring the highest levels of comfort and convenience to our customers by continuing to operate the most reliable and fuel-efficient aircraft available today and in the future," said Anatoly Gusarov, director general, Belavia Belarusian Airlines. "The purchase of three Next-Generation 737-800s will make it possible to open new scheduled flights to destinations which currently are unavailable due to the remoteness of the base airport."

The new airplanes will be capable of carrying up to 189 passengers in economy class cabin. Belavia said it will use these airplanes on existing charter routes because the economic efficiency of the airplanes will reduce operational costs and the extended range will allow for non-stop flights to farther destinations, including Tenerife, Canary Islands and Dubai.

"We are delighted Belavia has chosen the Next-Generation 737 which will provide the airline with market-leading efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort, allowing Belavia to grow," said Marty Bentrott, vice president, Middle East, Russia and Central Asia Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "This is an important step in our cooperation with Belavia and it will allow Belavia and Boeing to build on a successful business partnership for many years to come."

The 737-800 is the best-selling version of the highly successful Next-Generation 737 family, the most technologically advanced airplanes in the single-aisle market. The Next-Generation 737's market success has been confirmed by investors who consistently rank it as the most preferred single-aisle airplane due to its wide market base, superior performance efficiency and lowest operating costs in its class.
Belavia Belarusian Airlines is based in the Minsk International Airport. Belavia serves a network of routes between European cities and the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as several Middle East destinations. The airline's Boeing fleet currently consists of six 737-500s and seven 737-300s.
