SPECIAL COLOURS - Lufthansa's first anniversary aircraft lands in Frankfurt
- Numerous plane spotters, travelers, and spectators welcome brand-new Boeing 787-9 with XXL crane on its fuselage
- Special livery with registration D-ABPU is ambassador for the 100th anniversary of the airline's founding, with five more aircraft to follow in the coming months
- Latest Dreamliner to enter scheduled service in a few weeks
It has landed! The Boeing 787-9 with its impressive special livery marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the first Lufthansa arrived in Frankfurt today, Tuesday. Numerous plane spotters, travelers, and spectators welcomed the special aircraft at Germany's largest airport, which was transferred from the Boeing plant in Everett, Washington. The divisional board of Lufthansa Airlines also personally welcomed the Dreamliner with the registration D-ABPU and the name “Berlin”.
Jens Ritter, Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Airlines: “These are the particularly beautiful and unforgettable moments in our job. It's always a special moment to take delivery of a brand-new aircraft – but today's landing of this anniversary Boeing 787-9, with its extraordinary special livery marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the first ‘Luft Hansa’, was even more exciting and fascinating."
The Dreamliner “Papa Uniform” combines tradition and the future in an iconic design: the blue fuselage is adorned with a white XXL crane, whose wings merge into the wings, turning the aircraft into a flying anniversary ambassador for Lufthansa. In addition to the crane, a “100” is integrated on the left side of the fuselage and the lettering “1926 | 2026” on the right side. A “100” can also be seen on the underside of the aircraft.
In 2026, Lufthansa will celebrate a special anniversary: On January 6, 1926, almost exactly 100 years ago, the first Lufthansa was founded. The official maiden flight then took off on April 6, 1926. To mark this special occasion, a special anniversary fleet comprising a total of six aircraft will take off in 2026: The Boeing 787-9 will lead this XXL crane fleet. An Airbus A380, an Airbus A350-1000, an Airbus A350-900, an Airbus A320, and a Boeing 747-8 will also be receiving the new livery. The aircraft will gradually be given the new design, with the anniversary fleet expected to be complete in fall 2026.
The Dreamliner that landed today will complete its first scheduled flights for Lufthansa in a few weeks.
Porter Airlines Achieves Major Milestone With 50Th Embraer E195-E2
São José dos Campos, Brazil and Toronto, Canada – December 23, 2025 – Embraer (NYSE: EMBJ; B3: EMBJ3) has delivered the 50th E195-E2 aircraft to Porter Airlines, marking a major milestone in one of North America’s most dynamic fleet expansions. Since receiving its first E2 jet in December 2022, Porter set out to reshape travel across North America and set a new standard for passenger experience.
Porter has firm orders for 75 aircraft, with purchase rights for an additional 25, potentially bringing its fleet up to 100 E2s. The E195-E2 has enabled Porter’s impressive network expansion across Canada, the U.S., and now the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.
The airline’s bold strategy includes extending its elevated economy experience into southern vacation sunshine markets; launching 13 new routes to five popular destinations this season – Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, Grand Cayman, and Liberia (Costa Rica) – from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Hamilton airports. With the addition of the 50th E2, Porter will continue exploring opportunities to increase capacity across its growing network.
Michael Deluce, President & CEO of Porter Airlines, said, “Since Porter’s founding in 2006, we have consistently focused on raising the bar for our passengers by proving that economy flying can and should be pleasurable for everyone. The E2’s introduction into our fleet is allowing us to turbocharge these efforts as the fastest growing airline in North America over the last three years. The aircraft offers an incredible passenger experience and supports our promise as being the only airline in the region with no middle seats for any passenger on any flight. Our story is continuing as we reset the competitive landscape.”
Nigel Patterson, Vice President Sales & Marketing, and Head of Region North America, Embraer Commercial Aviation, added: “Porter Airlines is a true disruptor in North American travel. Their commitment to elevating the passenger experience with the E195-E2 highlights the aircraft’s unique blend of operational efficiency, passenger comfort, and environmental performance. Today’s delivery reinforces our conviction that the E2 family is the ideal solution for next-gen growth and market expansion.”
The E195-E2 is the largest and most advanced member of Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family. It delivers up to 29% lower fuel burn compared to first-generation E-Jets, a range of 3,000 nautical miles (~5,556 km), enabling nonstop operations across North America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Designed for high-frequency routes, the E195-E2 combines outstanding economics, the quietest cabin, 4th-gen fly-by-wire avionics, a modern passenger environment featuring onboard Wi-Fi and seatback power – and no middle seats.
Porter supplements the aircraft’s capabilities with a category-leading inflight offering. The airline’s award-winning passenger experience is available to everyone onboard on a complimentary basis, including wine and beer service in glassware, premium snacks and streaming-quality Wi-Fi.
Porter’s rapid fleet growth and network expansion underscore its transformation into a major player in North American aviation. With a reputation for delivering a premium flying experience, Porter is redefining travel for millions of passengers.
NEW LIVERY - Transavia receives first Airbus A321neo in new livery
Transavia took delivery of its fourteenth Airbus A321neo today. The aircraft, registration PH-YHR, is the first to feature the updated Transavia livery. With this delivery, the airline is taking another important step in its continued fleet renewal.
The PH-YHR landed at Schiphol today and is immediately being deployed for its first commercial flights. With the arrival of this aircraft, more than half of the Transavia fleet at Schiphol now consists of the new Airbus aircraft, which are quieter and more fuel-efficient than the Boeing 737s they replace.
The new livery is part of Transavia's recently launched brand identity. All Airbus aircraft added to the fleet from now on will feature this updated look. The iconic 'T' and the characteristic, refreshed green remain prominently featured in the updated livery.
Fleet renewal
Transavia is gradually renewing its entire fleet with the Airbus A321neo and the smaller Airbus A320neo. These aircraft deliver lower CO₂ emissions and less noise, and align with the airline's ambition for sustainable growth. The Boeing 737s are being gradually phased out and will no longer feature the new livery. Since the start of the fleet renewal, a total of ten Boeing aircraft have left the fleet.
With the delivery of the PH-YHR, the Airbus fleet now comprises fourteen aircraft. Seven new Airbus aircraft are expected in the coming year. Transavia expects to have completed its full transition to Airbus by 2031.
