Australian airline Skytrans rebrands to SmartLynx Australia
ASG, which purchased Skytrans last year and expanded it into wet-leasing operations with Airbus A319s, is bringing the airline’s branding in line with other carriers it owns including EU-based SmartLynx Airlines and Thailand-based Thai SmartLynx.
The airline says that its existing RPT and charter operations will continue unaffected, but its “strategic focus will be on establishing itself as an ACMI provider of both turboprop and narrow-body jet engine aircraft” and it is expanding its fleet to 13 planes, including A319s and Dash 8-200s.

FLEET - Etihad Airways takes delivery of its first Airbus A321LR aircraft
Hamburg, Germany/Abu Dhabi, UAE – Etihad Airways has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321LR (long range) following today’s ceremony at the Airbus Finkenwerder site, marking a transformational milestone in the airline's fleet expansion strategy.
The aircraft brings Etihad's signature widebody experience to short and medium-haul routes, with premium cabins typically found only on long-haul flights. This is the first of 30 A321LR aircraft scheduled to join Etihad's fleet.

Redefining Narrowbody Travel
The A321LR features a three-cabin configuration, including Etihad's first-ever narrowbody First Suites - private, enclosed spaces with sliding doors, fully-flat beds, and bespoke design touches normally reserved for long-haul widebody operations. Each window-facing First Suite features a large 20-inch 4K screen, Bluetooth pairing, wireless charging, and additional space for a companion to sit.
The aircraft's 14-seat Business cabin features widebody-style seats in a 1-1 herringbone layout, ensuring every passenger has direct aisle access and window views. Each Business seat includes a 17.3-inch 4K screen, Bluetooth headphone pairing and wireless charging.
In Economy, 144 thoughtfully designed seats offer generous space and comfort, providing an elevated experience for single-aisle travel. Passengers enjoy 13.3-inch 4K touchscreen displays, USB charging, and Bluetooth connectivity. These seatback screens bring premium content back to narrowbody travel with over a thousand hours of movies, shows and games.
In addition, the cabin features enlarged overhead bins providing significantly more luggage space than traditional narrowbody aircraft.

Expanding Horizons

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Etihad Airways achieved a significant milestone in its fleet expansion programme with July 2025 becoming the busiest month for aircraft deliveries in the airline's 22-year history. Throughout July, Etihad took delivery of five aircraft including its inaugural A321LR, two Boeing 787 Dreamliners, one Airbus A350-1000, and one Airbus A320.
This record-breaking month demonstrates the airline's commitment to rapid growth as it works towards its target to carry 38 million passengers annually by 2030. The five aircraft will significantly enhance Etihad's capacity across its expanding global network.

FLEET - SWISS presents new First and Business Class seats and announces first long-haul destination for its new Airbus A350
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) expects to take delivery of the first of its new Airbus A350-900s this October. The first intercontinental services with the brand-new long-haul twinjet will be to Boston, and will begin this winter. Flights from 1 January 2026 onwards are already bookable now. Following its delivery, SWISS’s first A350-900 will initially be deployed on European routes.
The Airbus A350-900 will be the first aircraft in the SWISS long-haul fleet to be equipped with the new SWISS Senses cabin. The Swiss-based airline presented the First and Business Class seats of its new cabin concept today.
“I am delighted that, with the arrival of our new Airbus A350s, we will be able to offer our customers an even more personal, exclusive and individual air travel experience,” said SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Heike Birlenbach at today’s presentation event, which was held in the Operation Center at Zurich Airport.
“As a premium airline, we aim to continue to deliver on our quality promise through our SWISS Senses concept,” Birlenbach continued. “Our new seats are the centerpiece of our new aircraft cabins. But SWISS Senses appeals to all the senses – with its special lighting concept, for instance, and also with our new scent that has been specially created for SWISS. All in all, SWISS Senses represents the biggest product investment in the history of our company – and a further major milestone for Swiss aviation.”
SWISS Senses represents a total redesign of the entire aircraft cabin. The new interior is hallmarked by a timeless color scheme and the use of top-quality materials. The focus on warm and muted tones such as claret, anthracite and beige conveys a sense of coziness and comfort. The SWISS First cabin and parts of SWISS Business also feature the first-ever use of suite seating arrangements.
A further key visual feature of the new SWISS Senses cabin is the use of human-centric lighting, which will help travelers better cope with jet lag. A new state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system with larger screens and the option of hooking up personal devices will also be provided in all seating classes.
SWISS First: privacy assured
The new SWISS First suites offer their occupants total privacy with closable sliding doors, a spacious personal wardrobe, a large seat table, seat heating and cooling, a wireless charging station and a screen display that is as wide as the suite itself. The cabin’s center suite can also be configured to suit two persons traveling together. The suites’ warm colors and elegant wood features convey a strong sense of comfort and calm within top-quality surrounds.
A spacious new washroom has also been developed for the new SWISS First cabin. The facility draws its inspiration from the famous spring in Vals in Canton Graubünden: a slate-black exterior, and a green interior that alludes to the spring’s fresh and cooling water.
SWISS Business: aisle access from every seat
The totally redesigned SWISS Business cabin is intentionally conceived to meet any of a wide range of wishes and needs. In addition to ‘classic’ Business Class seats, the new cabin offers various further seating options. Selected seats can also be closed off with a sliding door to provide additional privacy. All seats are designed to convert into a totally lie-flat bed with a length of 2.0 to 2.2 meters, and all seats further feature seat heating and cooling and a wireless charging station. The cabin’s top-quality materials in claret and anthracite help convey an extremely cozy and intimate ambience throughout.

Airbus delivers 100th A220 from Mobile facility, marking milestone for Alabama’s aerospace industry
MOBILE, Alabama — Alabama’s aerospace industry reached new heights as Airbus announced the delivery of the 100th A220 aircraft produced at its U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, marking a major milestone for the site and for the state’s thriving aviation sector.
The landmark aircraft, delivered to Breeze Airways, symbolizes the rapid growth and success of the A220 production line in Mobile.
Airbus launched A220 manufacturing at the Alabama facility in 2019 and opened a dedicated final assembly line for the aircraft at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley the next year, following a significant investment project.
In a little over five years, the Mobile operation has gone from breaking ground on the new line to delivering its 100th A220 aircraft — a testament to the strength of Alabama’s skilled workforce and the momentum of its aerospace ecosystem.
“Reaching this milestone underscores the dedication and team spirit that have defined our journey,” Daryl Taylor, Senior Vice President, Commercial Aircraft Operations for Airbus in the U.S., said in a statement shared on social media. “Way to go, team.”
In a Facebook post, Airbus cheered the development: “Congratulations to our Mobile team — 100 A220s produced in just five years is a pretty fantastic accomplishment!”
The A220, originally developed by Bombardier and adopted by Airbus in 2018, is known for its fuel efficiency, passenger comfort and versatility — making it a favorite among airlines like Delta, JetBlue and Breeze.
On social media, Breeze celebrated the delivery.
“We love that new plane smell,” the airline said. “The 100th Airbus A220 just rolled off the line in Mobile, AL, and lucky for us, it’s joining the Breeze fleet! We’re proud to fly one of the newest birds in the sky.”
The aircraft is assembled in both Mobile and Mirabel, Canada, but Airbus’ Alabama site has played an increasingly prominent role in meeting demand, particularly for U.S.-based carriers.
Ellen McNair, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce, applauded the achievement and the team behind it.
“This milestone reflects not only the incredible capabilities of Airbus but also the strength of Alabama’s workforce,” Secretary McNair said. “The success of the A220 line in Mobile proves that when global industry and local talent come together, we can achieve great things.
‘We’re proud that Alabama plays such a vital role in shaping the future of commercial aviation,” she said.
Airbus’ operations in Mobile support over 2,000 jobs and reinforce Alabama’s status as a key player in the global aerospace sector. In addition to the A220, Airbus also produces A320 Family aircraft in Mobile, and the facility continues to grow with an ongoing expansion and additional hiring under way.

FLEET - Bangladesh ups planned Boeing orders to reduce US deficit
"We have made commitments that are maintainable for us. The Boeing purchase is part of that," Rahman said. He added that the previous plans accounted for 14 aircraft, but the government is prepared to up its order to "get a better deal" from the US.
He acknowledged that the completion of the deliveries would likely take years, although the first ones would be expected within a year or two of firming the order.
Rahman did not provide further details regarding the types or operators of the aircraft.
Other Boeing operators in Bangladesh include US-Bangla Airlines and SkyAir.
Rahman and the Bangladeshi trade delegation are due to meet US representatives in Washington between July 29 and 31. Trump initially proposed imposing a 35% tariff on all goods from the country, effective August 1.
FLEET - Air Peace Expands Fleet With Arrival Of First Embraer 190 Aircraft
Air Peace Limited, Nigeria’s leading airline, has further deepened its operational capacity with the addition of its first Embraer 190 aircraft to its fleet. The aircraft, bearing registration 5N-CEF, touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at exactly 19:38 on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Speaking with newsmen, the airline’s spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, disclosed that the newly acquired aircraft is a 118-seater and the first of its type in the carrier’s growing fleet portfolio. He revealed that another unit is expected to arrive next month, further reinforcing the airline’s strategic expansion plan to bolster both domestic and regional operations.
“This aircraft type brings a new dimension to our service offerings. It is designed for efficiency, eco-friendly installations, and passenger comfort, such as a 2-2 seating layout, quiet and spacious cabin, making it the ideal fit for many of our routes. It enables us to connect more cities seamlessly and serve underserved destinations with the right capacity,” Efe noted.
He reiterated the airline’s commitment to easing the burden of air travel in Nigeria by continually investing in the right aircraft for its expansive network.
With a fleet of over 30 aircraft, Air Peace has remained at the forefront of West Africa’s aviation space. As of May 2025, the airline recorded an average on-time performance of 85% across its domestic network, a testament to its operational reliability and service delivery promise.
Looking ahead into the third quarter, Air Peace says it is optimistic about its growth trajectory. The airline plans to open new domestic routes, expand regional reach, launch more international destinations, and continue strategic fleet acquisition to meet growing passenger demand
