SPECIAL SCHEME - QANTAS CHEERS ‘GO AUSTRALIA’ ACROSS THE SKY TO AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIANS AND PARALYMPIANS

Qantas is throwing its support behind the Australian Olympic and Paralympic Teams by unveiling a special ‘GO AUSTRALIA’ message on either side of one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

The specially created graphic showcases Australian pride on an international stage and captures the essence of the iconic green and gold Aussie spirit, solidifying the Flying Kangaroo’s proud position as the official carrier of the 2024 Australian Olympic and Paralympic Teams.

Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson said Qantas and the Australian Olympic Team have more than 70 years of shared history.

“Qantas has a long and proud history of supporting the Australian Olympic and Paralympic Teams, from first flying Olympic athletes to the London Games in 1948 to our engineers designing custom cushions and support devices for our Australian Paralympians to travel comfortably on long-haul sectors.”

“We are so proud to support our Australian athletes and supporters to get to the Games once again and hope our special cheer squad 787 will help spur on our teams and supporters to put on a great show in Paris.”

Australian Olympic Team Chef de Mission for Paris 2024 Anna Meares welcomed Qantas’ ongoing support for Australian athletes.
“Qantas has been supporting Australian Olympic dreams for generations,” Ms Meares said.
“We are thrilled Qantas will be proudly sharing their support of Australian Olympians on their 787 Dreamliner.
“As an Olympian, flying on that Qantas plane home from a Games, to meet friends and family in the Qantas hangar welcome home, is such a special memory. I’m looking forward to our 2024 Olympic Team making their own Qantas memories on their journey to and from the Paris Games.”
Australian Paralympic Team Chef de Mission Kate McLoughlin said, “Our relationship with Qantas is so important to the Australian Paralympic Team.”

“Qantas offers flexibility around the travel requirements of people with a disability and the equipment they carry, and it’s great the way Paralympics Australia and Qantas collaborate to understand the needs of our team.
“The flight home from the Games is always special. Qantas has delivered our Paralympians on charter flights home from London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 and we’re thrilled that our team will again be flown home to Australia by Qantas after the Paris Paralympics.”
In addition to unveiling its ‘GO AUSTRALIA’ Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the Flying Kangaroo is preparing to launch its new Perth to Paris route next month and this weekend will resume its direct flights from Perth to Rome for the third year running. Qantas is the only airline to offer direct flights between Australia and continental Europe.

YTO Cargo Airlines (YG, Hangzhou) has inducted its only ARJ21-700(F) freighter into commercial service, with B-3329 (msn 112) operating a return flight from Yining to Tashkent International on June 6, 2024, FlightRadar24 ADS-B data shows.

“This was the first commercial flight of the ARJ21 passenger-to-cargo, marking the official entry of the type into the civil aviation cargo market and a new step in the development of the model,” COMAC said in a statement.

COMAC added that YTO Cargo Airlines will continue to deploy B-3329 regularly between Yining and Tashkent, “actively exploring the unique operating model of domestic cargo aircraft, providing support for YTO’s comprehensive internationalisation and building an international route network.”

The ch-aviation fleets module shows that YTO Cargo Airlines operates a fleet of 13 planes, including ten B757-200(PCF)s and two B767-300ER(BDSF)s.

Air Central (China) (GI, Zhengzhou) took delivery of the second ARJ21-700(F) in November last year. It has yet to introduce B-3388 (msn 109) into scheduled service.

The ARJ21-700(F) passenger-to-cargo jet has a maximum design payload of 10 tonnes and a design range of 2,778 kilometres. It is mainly used for domestic and short-haul international cargo transportation.

Additionally, Brunei's GallopAir signed a Letter of Intent with COMAC for thirty aircraft, including an undisclosed amount of the passenger-to-cargo type.

FLY91 SELECTS ATR’S PAY-BY-THE-HOUR SUPPORT PROGRAMME

Indian pure play regional airline signs Global Maintenance Agreement with ATR to optimise entry into service and fleet development, relying on manufacturer’s expertise

World’s number one manufacturer of regional aircraft ATR, and Indian pure play regional airline FLY91, today announced the signature of a Global Maintenance Agreement (GMA), a pivotal step towards providing reliable and cost-effective regional air travel across India. Under this comprehensive agreement, ATR will provide repair, overhaul and pooling services of Line Replaceable Units, propeller availability and repair services, as well as engineering and on-site support for FLY91’s growing fleet of ATR aircraft. Initially covering two ATR 72-600, the 100% tailor-made pay-by-the-hour contract is set for a duration of five years, with a clear path from FLY91 to substantially increase its ATR fleet within the same timeframe, up to 30 aircraft.

“As a regional carrier, we are dedicated to serving our customers with reliable, comfortable flights and seamless connectivity,” said Manoj Chacko, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at FLY91. “While the ATR 72-600 stands out as the smartest aircraft choice, offering unbeatable economics and cabin comfort, the ATR GMA will be instrumental in further boosting our operations. ATR’s proven track record of delivering high-quality products and services, coupled with their competitive pricing, played a significant role in our decision-making process as they align perfectly with our ambitious plans for quality, reliability and fleet growth in a competitive market.”

Stefano Marazzani, ATR’s SVP Customer Support and Services, commented: “With over 40 years of expertise, ATR is ideally placed to support FLY91’s ambitious development plans, sharing insightful data and best practices to ensure their fleet benefit from continuously high performance. This means looking for optimisations wherever possible, anticipating and rationalising maintenance costs, striving for better spare parts availability and reliability, improving troubleshooting, advising on upgrades and providing on-site support with the aim to provide extra value. The GMA business model is enabling all parties to go the extra mile together.”

Today, 80% of the ATR -600 fleet covered by a pay-by-the-hour contract is covered by an ATR GMA, which shows both the attractiveness of the offer and its relevance for ATR operators.

FLEET - UK’s One Air mulls more B747Fs, to add B777F

One Air (HC, London Stansted) is looking to add more B747Fs to its fleet, as well as add its first B777-F later this year, the company’s chief operating officer, Christopher Hope, told The Loadstar.

“We are open to potentially more B747 freighters to enter the fleet, but also to add our first B777-F this year. Air One expects the strong demand from China to Europe and the UK to remain, and as the fleet grows, it will support more global charter bookings,” he said.

The carrier, which launched operations in July 2023, currently operates a fleet of two B747-400(BDSF)s, G-ONEE (msn 24998) and G-UNET (msn 25075). Last year, it applied for a US Foreign Air Carrier Permit to launch operations to the United States. In it, the British cargo ACMI/charter specialist said part of its plan was to acquire more modern aircraft (potentially Boeing's B777-F) “when this is sensible for the business.”

One Air wasn't immediately available for added comment on potential arrival dates, and registrations for future aircraft.

One Air is part of a network of aviation companies controlled by Indian citizen Guneet Mirchandani. Other companies under Mirchandani’s umbrella are Aerotranscargo (F5, Chisinau International) and ROMCargo (NJ, Bucharest Henri Coanda).

FLEET / ORDER - Gulf Air mulls new Boeing widebody order

Gulf Air (GF, Bahrain International) is actively considering adding B787-8s or B787-10s, the group's chief executive officer, Jeffrey Goh, told Aviation Week, adding that a decision on an order with Boeing could be made soon.

The Bahraini carrier is more interested in the double-aisle segment “as we have a healthy number of narrowbodies [on order],” he told the digital publication.

The ch-aviation fleets module shows Gulf Air currently operates a fleet comprising 41 aircraft, including eight A320-200s, six A320-200Ns, four A321-200s, nine A321-200NX, four A321-200NX(LR)s, and ten B787-9s. It has orders for 12 additional planes (six A320neo, four A321neo(LR)s, and two B787-9s).

Goh said Gulf Air expects to receive an additional narrowbody this year and half a dozen next year, with two additional B787s in the pipeline, without specifying when they would arrive.

The state-owned carrier has recently been under fire about its financial position. “We’re hoping that this will be a better year than last year in terms of passenger numbers and financial performance,” Goh said.
ch-aviation has reached out to Gulf Air for comment.
