Air Kasai has suspended passenger operations for the time being airline management has exclusively revealed to ch-aviation. The carrier says its Air Operators Certificate was suspended temporarily for a month earlier this winter season by the Congolese Ministry of Transport following an engine failure on its sole B737-300(QC), 9Q-CGD (msn 23788) wet-leased from Gomair (Goma) after take-off from Kisangani in November 2013.
The grounding, which coincided with the carrier's peak winter-season period, led to the suspension of passenger operations, likely to last six months. Air Kasai also operates an ATR72-200 itself and a B737-200Adv wet-leased from Gryphon Airlines SA.
