In the meantime, Sun PhuQuoc will begin operating mid-life A330-200s by the end of the year, marking its first foray into widebody operations. Nam says the aircraft’s range allows it to expand to Central Asia, Australia and Russia.
It intends to take eight A330s, configured to seat 247 passengers in three cabin classes: 20 in business, 21 in premium economy and 206 in economy class.
By 2030, the airline envisages a fleet of 100 aircraft – 80 narrowbodies and 20 widebody aircraft – with plans to expand to nearly 200 jets in 2035.
