All Nippon Airways started its longest route on 15 February when the Star Alliance carrier began daily flights between Tokyo Narita and Mexico City

The 11,249-kilometre route will be flown using the airline’s 787-8s and faces competition from Aeromexico’s five times weekly service. The first flight back from Mexico City to Tokyo took to the skies the following day. When the route was announced last November, Osamu Shinobe, CEO and President of ANA, said: “We are proud to be the first airline to operate direct, daily flights between Japan and Mexico to better serve the growing business and leisure demand between our two countries. We hope our flight will also contribute to a closer bilateral relationship, economic prosperity and cultural exchange.” All Nippon Airways now serves 44 destinations outside of Japan including 11 in China and nine in the US.

Vanilla Air joined fellow Japanese LCC Peach Aviation in growing its network this week

Vanilla Air focussed its growth on the domestic market. On 18 February it started a twice-daily service on the 491-kilometre route from Tokyo Narita (NRT) to Osaka Kansai (KIX). The airport pair is already served by Jetstar Japan (32 weekly flights), Peach Aviation (21) and Spring Airlines Japan (14). The following day Vanilla Air began a daily service between Narita and Hakodate (HKD). This 669-kilometre route is not flown by any other carrier, although AirDo, All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines all offer multiple daily flights from Tokyo Haneda to Hakodate. Vanilla Air now serves nine destinations from Narita; five in Japan plus Cebu (Philippines), Hong Kong, Kaohsiung and Taipei Taoyuan (both in Taiwan). The LCC’s fleet currently comprises 11 180-seat A320s, three of which joined the airline in 2016.

Xiamen Airlines on 15 February made New York its second destination in the US.

On that day the carrier launched a three times weekly service from Fuzhou (FOC) to New York JFK (JFK), a distance of 12,477 kilometres. That’s over 2,000 kilometres longer than the SkyTeam member’s previous longest route between Shenzhen and Seattle-Tacoma, a route it launched last September. No other carrier offers non-stop flights between Fuzhou and the US. Both routes are flown using the airline’s 787-8s. It also uses the same type to support service to Amsterdam and Vancouver.

JetBlue Introduces 12th Special Livery Aircraft and New Tailfin Design As Airline Celebrates 17 Years

‘Blueprint’ Becomes Airline’s First Embraer 190 to Feature a Unique Paint Scheme

‘Highrise’ Tailfin Honor’s JetBlue’s Hometown by Reaching for the Sky

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- JetBlue (NASDAQ:JBLU) today announced eye-catching additions to the airline’s fleet with the very first special livery for an Embraer 190 and a new tailfin design that will appear on multiple aircraft this year. The airline is introducing the new paint schemes as it celebrates its 17th anniversary this month.

“Our design team has done an outstanding job of visually telling a JetBlue story through their fresh and creative lens,” said Jamie Perry, vice president marketing, JetBlue. “Whether looking to the skyline of our hometown for inspiration or creating a storyline to bring a paint scheme to life, the team keeps surprising our crewmembers and our customers with their innovative work.”
‘Blueprint’ Is Born

JetBlue has a long tradition of adding unique, special liveries to its Airbus A320 fleet and that tradition is expanding to the airline’s E190 fleet.

Often referred to as the backbone of the operation in cities like Boston; Washington, D.C.; and San Juan, Puerto Rico, JetBlue’s design team created a paint scheme that showcased the so-called “bones” of the 100-seat aircraft. Drawing upon the styles of various aviation, nautical and space exploration vehicle cut-away diagrams, the JetBlue design team created a mechanical x-ray of sorts infused with some JetBlue fun.

The see-through paint job draws on both the technical and fanciful aspects of air travel. Mechanical features like the nose gear, jet engine and yoke were among the more obvious design elements to include. But for the onboard features, JetBlue designers drew upon their own travel experiences, crewmember tales, and the airline’s loyal customers for inspiration, even creating fictional characters to compile a list of the items they might be traveling with. Plane spotters are encouraged to give the overhead bins, under-seat storage areas, and the luggage holds a closer look to see if they can spot the nearly 50 items these “Blueprint” customers are traveling with.

Although “Blueprint” features just three signature JetBlue colors, it is one of the airline’s most intricate special livery designs and took nearly two weeks to paint at a facility in Quebec. The first-ever JetBlue E190 special livery debuted at Boston’s Logan International Airport and will operate on routes served by the E190 throughout the JetBlue network.

‘Highrise’ Reaches for the Skies

JetBlue has come a long way since launching its first two routes, now flying to 100 destinations across the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America. And even as the airline looks toward more growth in the years ahead there’s still no place like home. That’s why New York’s Hometown Airline® is honoring the city that never sleeps with a tailfin take on the buildings that form the iconic skyline.

The design, which depicts the image of bright lights through window panes of city high-rises, is meant to reflect JetBlue’s growth and New York’s perpetual desire to reach for the sky. Four of JetBlue’s signature colors are reflected in “Highrise” and the illuminated windows can be rearranged creating a slightly different pattern on different aircraft tailfins.

The “Highrise” pattern debuted at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and will be added to additional aircraft this year across the JetBlue network, so customers can be on the lookout for the newest tailfin design in a city near them.

Air Mauritius confirms A330neo lease, defers A350s

Air Mauritius (MK, Mauritius) has signed longterm lease agreements with Air Lease Corporation for two new A330-900neo aircraft. The Mauritian national carrier said in a statement the aircraft are powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 motors and are scheduled to be delivered in September and October 2018. Their arrival, it said, will coincide with the retirement of two A340-300Es whose leases will expire in November and December 2018. The A330neo will initially serve the medium haul routes of Guangzhou, Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok, Delhi Int'l, and Perth Int'l.

The A330-900 aircraft will have a similar cabin layout as the A350-900 aircraft and will be configured in a two-class layout with 291 seats (twenty-eight business and 263 economy class seats) in total.
Concerning earlier reports of an A350/A330neo order revision with Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac), Air Mauritius said it has now decided to retain the delivery of two A350-900s in 2019. However, it will reschedule the delivery of the last two A350-900 aircraft, initially planned for 2020, to 2023.

JET BLUE NEW TAIL COLOURS “Red, White and Blue,” A320-200 - N537JT

This month we celebrate our 17th anniversary. We’ve come such a long way from those first 2 routes – We now serve 100 destinations across the Americas and Caribbean and continue to look toward more growth. As the saying goes though, “there’s no place like home,” which is why to celebrate our 17th anniversary, we have unveiled our newest tailfin – “Highrise,” a uniquely JetBlue take on the buildings that form the iconic skyline of our hometown.

The aircraft, “Red, White and Blue,” came fresh out the paint shop to JFK on February 16 after spending 9 days at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama.

The design, which depicts the image of bright lights through window panes of city highrises, is meant to reflect JetBlue’s growth and New York’s perpetual desire to reach for the sky. Much like our journey as a company, climbing the city that never sleeps is not always easy, but it’s inspiring whatever your vantage point.

Four of our signature colors are what make up the design created by our Brand Design Team. The windows in the image are able to be “turned off,” thus creating a new arrangement that presents a slightly different image.

Our growth may lead us down many paths, but when it comes to the evolution of our brand, we always come home. The “Highrise” pattern will continue to be featured on many of the aircraft we receive this year as well as planes that are due for a fresh coat of paint. “Red, White and Blue” is currently out in the network so be on the lookout as our newest tailfin design makes its way through the sky and to a BlueCity near you!

SHANGHAI, Feb. 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Juneyao Airlines announced today the finalization of an order for five 787-9 Dreamliners, valued at about $1.32 billion at current list prices.

This new order, which also includes options for five more 787-9s, represents the Shanghai-based private airline's first Boeing order and first widebody airplane order.

"Our strategic vision is to develop into an international airline that provides high quality service with an extended network, while ensuring excellent profitability," said Wang Junjin, Chairman, Juneyao Airlines. "Today's order is set to play a key role in our growing business in the years to come, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Boeing into the future."

Juneyao Airlines, one of China's largest private carriers, was founded in 2005 and started operation in 2006. It currently operates domestic routes and short-haul international flights to neighboring countries such as Japan, South Korea and Thailand. The carrier plans to open new routes to North America, Europe and Australia by 2020.

"We are pleased to welcome Juneyao Airlines as a new Boeing customer," said Rick Anderson, vice president of Sales for Northeast Asia, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "This order is an endorsement of their confidence in the 787 Dreamliner, which is the first choice for many single-aisle operators to start widebody operations."

Boeing Debuts 787-10 Dreamliner

Airplane scheduled to fly in the coming weeks, deliver to customers in 2018

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C., Feb. 17, 2017 – The Boeing (NYSE: BA) 787-10 Dreamliner, the third member of the 787 Dreamliner family, made its debut today at Boeing South Carolina. The 787-10, built exclusively at Boeing South Carolina, will now be prepared for its first flight in the coming weeks.

Since entering service in 2011, the 787 family has flown more than 140 million people on 530 routes around the world, saving an estimated 13 billion pounds of fuel.
