Kingfisher temporarily suspends operations until October 4
Kingfisher
Airlines has announced the temporary
suspension of flight operations until October 4 after another round of employee
strikes that have recently also turned violent. The financially struggling
carrier has not paid salaries to the majority of its employees since April 2012
and has been forced to cancel more and more flights and take aircraft out of
service. Its management still hopes to attract foreign investment in ther
carrier now that the Indian government allows foreign investors to take stakes
of up to 49% in Indian airlines. Aviation minister Ajit Singh has however
warned Kingfisher that its operating license might be suspended if it will end
up operating less than five aircraft or no longer be able to comply with safety
regulations given an on-going strike of some of its engineers.
