AirBlue has moved to phase out its pair of ex-Turkish Airlines A340-300s owing to their perceived poor fuel economics and high maintenance costs.
According to the ch-aviation aircraft database, one of the jets, AP-EDE (cn 216), is currently in Islamabad undergoing repairs while the other, AP-EDF (cn 257), has now been returned to lessor, the International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC). As it now stands, the Pakistani carrier is now looking for A330-300s to service its network which, since the recent termination of flights to Manchester Int'l, now consists of Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi Int'l as well as Abu Dhabi Int'l, Dubai Int'l, Jeddah, Muscat and Sharjah.
