Air India has launched direct flights from Delhi to Rome and Milan.
Flown by a 787, the service will be operated on a triangular route between the three destinations.
Delhi-Rome-Milan-Delhi will operate four days a week and Delhi-Milan-Rome-Delhi will operate three times a weeks.
By offering direct services to Italy, Air India hopes to capture the long-standing demand of not only Indians residing in Italy, but also the growing travel and tourism numbers.
The new service will see Air India become the only Indian carrier with direct flights to and from Italy. Prior to the routes launch, travellers have had to change to other airlines or make connection at international hubs in West Asia.
The announcement comes just days after the airline took delivery of its 14th 787, departing from Charleston, USA and arriving in New Delhi on June 4.
